Great movie quotes

I was visiting some of my favorite blogs today and while reading a post about pets on the Mental Pause Chronicles, I saw in the comment section that MP had inadvertently left out her dear friend, Annie's pet, Stella. I'm sure MP feels really badly about it, but let me get to the point.

What is the point? Oh, yes. Great movie quotes.

Immediately, I thought of a Streetcar Named Desire and Marlon Brando screaming into the night, "Stella! Hey, Stella!"

And so I give you the top ten movie quotes of all time. I just love movie quotes, don't you? Well, don't answer that if you don't give a damn. Which, by the way, is Number 1. Also, please note Number 10, which I just used in this Skywatch Friday post.

1. "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn." (Gone with the Wind, 1939).
2. "I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse." (The Godfather, 1972).
3. "You don't understand! I coulda had class. I coulda been a contender. I could've been somebody, instead of a bum, which is what I am." (On the Waterfront, 1954).
4. "Toto, I've got a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore." (The Wizard of Oz, 1939).
5. "Here's looking at you, kid." (Casablanca, 1942).
6. "Go ahead, make my day." (Sudden Impact, 1983).
7. "All right, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up." (Sunset Boulevard, 1950).
8. "May the Force be with you." (Star Wars, 1977).
9. "Fasten your seatbelts. It's going to be a bumpy night." (All About Eve, 1950).
10. "You talking to me?" (Taxi Driver, 1976).

For more quotes, visit American Film Institute's movie quote site. I mean, if you give a damn, of course.

Here's looking at you, kids.

Those are the most used movie quotes... but for the Star Wars one I like "I've got a bad feeling about this" it works all the time in my regular life

Q: "Do you want to super size that?"

A: "I've got a bad feeling about this."

Working mom, I use them all the time, too!

MP, you are so not a schmuck.

Claudious, I am laughing out loud. That is SUCH a good line!

We have a few movies that we quote. A couple of our favorites are from a more modern movie called Orange County. "I'd like to pretose a toast" is probably our favorite. There's another one that we quote a lot but it requires hand gestures so I'm not sure it will come across well - "I've got ideas! Like a hat that goes beeeruuuuoop (that is where you make hand gesture.... anyway we love that line).
Then we've got a quote from the Simpsons that we use every so often - "We're all outta ideas and we tried nothin', Doc!"

I love all the quotes you listed. It's funny how you read a quote and you totally hear the actor's voice in your head.

I am totally rambling... LOL :)

Well you know I love movie quotes and those are definitely the best ones around. Except they need on from the Princess Bride in there somewhere.

My husband is a movie fanatic, and my son is a film major, so we can hold an entire conversation in movie quotes, including the actor's accent... Schwarzennager is a favorite, as is Cary Grant. I'm more of a Katharine Hepburn, though...

These are great. Glad to see you included Ms. Bette Davis. One of her lines is an all-time favorite of mine - "I'd love to kiss yah, but I just washed mah hair." From Cabin in the Cotton.

I love the nostalgia that old movies invoke. They are as timeless as their characters. Watching an old movie can transport me to another place and time just like listening to oldies music. Thanks much for the walk down Memory Lane.

I love old movies and these are so great. My hubby always told me how much he loved the movie Shane as a kid. So I have heard "Shane. Shane. Come back!", "Shane," (1953) many times.
