Another contest! Win this framed print!

Time's Up! Winner to be announced around 9 PM. Thanks to all who entered!

I am in the mood for a another contest. And this is the prize. It's a 6X9 print of a photo I posted on my PictureADay site called Looking Up. The photograph is printed on archival quality Kodak Professional Supra Endura VC Digital Paper and framed in mpix's bronze ornate with a 1" white matting under clear glass.

To enter this contest, you have to answer one simple question. Are you ready?

The question is: "What is one thing that you do for yourself that makes you truly happy?"

Inquiring minds want to know.

Personally, there a number of things I do for myself to make me happy. Photography is one of them. Walking is another. Cooking? I'd be lying if I said that made me happy, although surprisingly, sometimes it does. I told you it was the pink countertops!!

So, tell me. It's the only requirement to entering this contest.

You have until Wednesday, November 12 at 6:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. After that, I will draw one number from a hat. It doesn't matter when you respond, but it must be before 6 PM this coming Wednesday.

I'm going to be a little busy early this week. I have some appointments with my husband and I'm also (surprise!) working on an Etsy to sell my prints. I'm also planning on selling some of them pre-framed, as is this particular print. If purchased from my site, it would probably cost you $65 framed.

So think about the question. And remember, that whatever it is that makes you happy ~ I am not judging on what makes YOU, PERSONALLY happy. I'm pulling your name out of a hat. And you are telling ME what it is that makes you really smile.

Have fun with it, ok?

I will post the winner around 9:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on Wednesday evening, November 12.

Until then, my friends, you can catch me daily at my PictureADay site . . .

MANY, many things make me happy. I'm pretty easy to please. Family, photography, sports, my mom's cooking, the list could be long.

I'm glad to hear you will be selling your work!! Yea! Good for you!! I have a feeling it will be a good experience for both you and the buyers!

Regarding yesterday's game, remember Iowa has already lost 4 games...! I thought both teams played really well and, to be honest, Iowa was extremely lucky that game was played in poor weather. If it had been a nice day, well....!

Penn State will be in the Rose Bowl and I have always considered that to be the #1 bowl game in the country! And Coach Joe is the #1 coach in America, too!

Mine is photography as well. And blogging. And baths. Okay, it sounds like I take a lot of time for myself...but I really don't these days!

I was going to do a give away of my photo soon too! Great minds think alike?

This is a tough question because so many things make me happy. I love spending time with family, sleepovers with grandchildren, photography, getting together with friends, scrapbooking, sailing, and vacations anywhere. But the one thing that makes me really happy would surprise most people.

I love nothing more than being home alone and clean. I love house cleaning and I love a clean house. This doesn't imply in any way that my house is clean. Quite the contrary. But taking off a week from work and cleaning the house from top to bottom would make my toes curl!

Your photos are something to aspire to. I'm answering though 'cause I like the question. (I feel all funny entering contests.) But what makes me happy are old home videos. We four watched one when my kids were 1 and 3 years old today. Unbelievable just how amazing they are and have been. Breaking my heart right now.
Plus I love fudge, hikes, kick butt pictures, words that speak magic and anything old. Oh, and you. You make me happy.

That is a wonderful idea! I think you will do really well on Etsy, at least I am hoping that others will appreciate your talent as much as we do.
And, this is the photo that I really love, love, love.
so, what is the one thing that I do for myself that makes me happy? That is easy...spending time with my grandson, Jack. He's to the age now that when he sees me, I get the biggest grin and it makes my heart just melt. When I sing him "our songs" which is the ABC song and a song I made up...his mouth turns up and his eyes light up...and well, I am a totally happy. Cheap medicine, but I like to think it is Priceless!

Life makes me happy...the good the bad and the inbetween. I'm just happy with all of my blessings.

If I was being selfish though...I would say photography is one thing that I do just for myself that really makes me happy.

A clean, quiet, cozy, candlelit, jazz-filled room with something delicious to sip on that involves chocolate.
But I would say, even greater than that is something that I don't really "do for myself". You can read about what I mean here
http://www.dyeries.com/2008/01/my-life-today.html

I wrote it a while ago but I thought of it immediately.

Go Etsy! You'll do great!
I started a shop a while ago and I'm still waiting for my new photo card paper to post my cards.
Soon I hope...

One thing that makes me truly happy is a house full of people, gathered around my dining room table - eating, or drinking, or playing a fun game of cards or classic board games.

In a nutshell - making good memories with loved ones.

Congrats on the ETSY!

Lovely photo, my friend! What I do just to make me happy is brew a cup of Earl Gray and sit down on the couch with a cat I've pet a thousand times and a book I've read a hundred times. "Three Women" by Anne McCaffrey, usually.

What I do for myself that makes me happy is pick up my grandchildren and keep them overnight. And take lots of pictures of them too.

Your photography makes me happy! I never leave your site without a smile on my face.
Besides the obvious, family etc. I also love to dance! When I'm feelin' down or like life is running away with me. I just stick in some middle eastern rhythms and shake my stuff.
That and ice cream. Ice cream always makes me happy! Fatter but happy.
*hugs*

The thing I do for myself that makes me happy is cross-stitching.

(P.S. I'd love to do a stitched version of that lovely picture!)

Well, Kate, you know, lots of things make me happy also. Playing tennis, reading books, company of friends and family, photography, not to mention reading your blog..not so much da cooking tho...but when I really thought about it, you know I think I like going for a walk most of all...it is soo lovely to be outdoors , fresh air, exercise, and enjoying God's creation. Now if I could share that with a special friend, partner , puppy or grandchild, that would be super special. But just on my own is just fine too!

Annie

ps If perchance my name came outta da hat...then you could send it to NY to my daughter...she LOVES Daisies..well, I do too...but I could admire it whenever I am in NY couldn't I? Or she could bring it out here when she visits in a coupla weeks. Save you da postage. (Not that my name is comin outta da hat, I know)

Quilt design is probably at the top for happy and satisfaction thought cooking and recipe creation is a close second.

This is a wonderful print! And I have the perfect wall for it!

Lots of things make me happy but one thing I do for myself - on those days when life seems one step ahead of me and I can't get even. I get a cup of nice strong coffee, or later in the day, a glass of nice wine, my camera, with the telephoto lens and I go sit on the back porch and take photos of the birdies. In about 10 minutes it starts to get all better. In 30 minutes, I am a new woman.

I can't wait to see how you do on Etsy - your stuff is so good!

Sue said...

Oh yes....Cooking has to be my number one choice...followed up by driving in my little red car with the CD up high listening to....don't laugh or judge me....Benny Goodman.

I have several little indulgences that make me happy. Once a week I buy a New Yorker magazine, and I settle with a cup of hot chocolate and read it. I also pamper myself with Crabtree and Evelyn fragrant soaps and lotions. Blogging makes me happy, so does painting. Having long conversations with my special friend makes me happy. Being with my munchkins makes me happy.

That's a very nice photograph. I hope I win it. That would make me happy. :-) Daisies are my favorite flower.

Good for you and for Etsy. Be sure and let me know your store name there.

Some really simple things makes me happy. Planting flowers in the beds in the springtime. Watching my hummingbirds feed during the summer. Taking long drives in the country and listening to babbling brooks.

i love being creative - decorating and crafting. That is my element!

Besides chocolate? Reading, taking photos is way up there in the list, along with anything creative.

In fact, the one thing that made me happiest lately was making a book of my fall photos on Blurb. I'm not selling them or anything, but I had a blast making it!

I can't wait to see your Etsy shop. I bet it will be a huge success! I've considered doing something like that, so I'll have to pick your brain, if you don't mind... :)

Well....i feel good when I run, Ilove to cook but what makes me truely happy is cleaning my little house and sitting round sipping (some would beg to differ and say chugging) a glass (OK bottle) of wine in my sparkling clean house with nothing on the agenda. Lay on the sofa...watch TV...get up and cook a little something on the creative side...sit back on sofa..sip more vino....eat..sip more vino...get the picture?

Krystina said...

First off congrats on the Etsy!

And secondly, the one thing that truely brings me to a happy place is the sights, sounds and smells of the barn. Horses are my passion. I don't care if im riding, or mucking out the barn. I'm where i truely belong.

WOW beautiful photo... What makes me happy...I love to cook for others... then to see them eat and enjoy just makes my heart sing... I love photography too but am not too sure how good I am at it there for it is my selfish pleasure ... it makes me happy... Doing things with my family makes me happy either burning trees, picking up sticks, cleaning house playing games going to the movies or out to eat or just sitting spening time together... because all those things are things where time is spent together. that makes me happy.
reading blogs and keeping up with my friends(internet friends) makes me happy...
Hope you have a wonderful week and this business gets up and running and you sell tons!
and to think I have two prized photos from a soon to be famous artest :D WAHOOOOO

What makes me happy?
Well, considering the zoo Iive and work in, I would say the secret trifecta of happiness is a few uninterrupted moments paired with a peaceful and quiet background while I get lost in my writing.

let me think....yep, that is what makes me happy!

Hi kate, my answer would be doing shopping for my family, especially on christmas time. It would really make me happy, because I want to make them happy, too. And I want them to feel that Christmas is about giving to your love-ones.

Once every couple of weeks or so, I eat lunch alone at a cheap diner or sandwich shop, read the newspaper, and people watch.

It's been one of my life's simple pleasures for nearly 40 years now.

What a great question. I thought I knew but now that I"ve read all these other comments, I have to agree with just about everything everybody else mentioned. I guess there are a LOT of things that make me happy. Who knew? I didn't. At the moment, the thing that makes me most happy is figuring out this blogging business and finding my voice. I love grabbing a glass of wine at night or coffee if it's morning and just.....write about anything. The reason I started the blog was to find a happy place. I didn't expect to find actual people that I've never physically met who made me happy like .......YOU. I love it whenever I get a comment from you. You're so funny, giving and kind, with an edge of course. :-)

One thing I adore is to make a decision to take a day off when I wake up, especially if the weather is really nasty, and just piddle the day away working on some craft project or whatever.

Definitely photography too. I'm definitely moving up to a better camera before spring happens.

Congrats on selling your stuff on etsy. You're going to have the bee-yoo-tee-ful praying mantis available, right? <:-)

Well, tearing up the quarter mile on a nitro Harley, front tire in the air, 175 mph and still going. It’s an adrenaline rush! The design and fabrication of a 900 hp land based rocket seems to sooth my soul, until that moment when you blister the quarter mile at 200 mph! Sounds crazy, it is. But I would have to say the one thing that brings me true happiness is having my baby Adrienne in my arms, nothing can compare with that feeling she gives me! She can make every thing all right, and with me that’s a challenge within it’s self.

Getting "out there" with nature is what makes me happiest. I'm getting older, so it's not always something really "active." It might be watching the sunset, or photographing sunflowers or clouds. My very favorite thing is to forage for Mother Nature's gifts, such as berries and nuts. Most people I know don't "get" this about me. It's much easier to buy berries and nuts. But, for me, it's all about the bounty of the Earth.

Playing with my grandbabies makes me happy. I also love getting pedicures once a month, it's the one thing I just do for myself. Great photo by the way.

Sometimes doing what is going to make a person happy is not a happy thing. I recently left a 3 year relationship because I realized that it was not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Am I happy about that? No. But in the long run I know I have made the right decision so that I can be happy. Too much of a downer? The good parts are my 4 grandchildren and my daughter, a good job and good friends. And good blogs! Thanks for the chance to share.
