The best laid plans . . .

Oh, I had so many plans for today. There was cleaning, and scrubbing. (I do enjoy a bit of that from time to time, you know).

There was the making of my signature dessert, my apple pumpkin pie (which I plan on posting later on).

There was a visit back to my new favorite wine store. And well, I did get that one accomplished. (Priorities, you know).

But this morning, while having a cup of cappuccino out on my front porch with my husband, I walked down the steps and TRIPPED off the very last step where it meets the earth. And I fell down. And I actually cried because my ankle hurt so badly. Cried!

I hate crying. Usually. But this hurt so badly that I simply had to cry.

My husband rushed to help me. My dog sniffed me and declared me AliVe. And right before I fell, I had taken this little video of George. He'd been fetching and catching his toy in the air and I thought it would be fun to show off his abilities on my blog.

But I erased it accidentally. (Because I am an idiot).

Have you noticed my extreme use of the parentheses in this post?

So now, I'm having a glass of wine and nursing my ankle. I may still make the pie later on.

Riddle me this: What do you do when a beloved co-worker changes in an instant and hardly talks to you anymore? What do you do when you know it's nothing you've done? What do you do when you absolutely miss the jocularity, the camaraderie, and the downright exhuberance of said co-worker? And I am not putting the links in for him anymore. I am just not.

It's just so . . .

disheartening.

Don't mind me. I'm just pissy because of my clumsiness.

And two posts in one day. Wow! I haven't done this in, well, since I began blogging! And the picture? Well, it's actually a watercolor I was playing around with in Photoshop while I've been sitting here nursing my ankle. It's just a simple pic of a tree that wasn't really any good. I'd taken it through one of the windows that had a screen in it, and I'm posting the original on my other blog tomorrow. I just liked how the watercolor looked.

What a day! I hope your ankle is doing a bit better. If you need something to cheer you up head on over to my blog and get your latest award.... ;P

As for said co-worker, Corner him, pin him down, and demand an answer! lol just kidding, I really don't know. I hope it all comes 'round.

Give George a pat for me!

Oh what a day! I think your trauma beats the water shooting from the toilet today due to city work on the water lines.

In my experience co-workers are mysterious things. You just never know what is going on. But I know what you mean.

Feel better and here's to a trip-free, plumbing neutral Thanksgiving!

I was gonna ask about the picture. I like it a lot!

Twisted ankles are something I'm waaay too familiar with. And they hurt like hell!

Hope yours is better soon.

Poor you. I hope your ankle is on the mend and won't be bothering you for too much longer.

As for the co-worker, just ask what's up? If he still doesn't talk to you, push him off that killer last step. ;)

Hope your ankle is going to be okay...luckily you did'nt break something, that wouldn't have been good...As for your co-worker I would just come out and ask what his problem is...people don't talk enough these days...

I like the photo - it's sort of other-worldly. Hope the ankle heals quickly - hate it when I do something like that!

That photo is gorgeous and calming.

I think you threw yourself down those stairs on purpose so you'd have a mighty fine excuse to drink some of that wine.

Weird, about the coworker. Strange. Somethin's up.

(Have a great Thanksgiving!)

I am SO sorry about your fall. Sometimes, though, a good cry just makes everything better. Keep IT on ice and the wine room temp and hopefully tomorrow morning it'll all be better.

I don't know how to respond to the other predicament! Sorry.

Okay - first of all. You're being pissy because you hurt your ankle? OMG!!!! I was beginning to wonder if you ever got "pissy"! Yay! You're human afterall!!! LOL

You're always so chipper and positive... which is great, don't get me wrong - but I was beginning to wonder - does Kate ever just break down and bitch and whine like the rest of us??

Give the co-worker a corn cob holder. Ask him if he needs help getting the cob out of his ass. I use inappropriate humor like this to break the ice in a tense situation - and usually it works. Then ask him what's the deal?

So sorry to hear about your ankle... but glad you're resting it and having a glass of wine. That's what the doctor would've ordered for you.

Hugs to you and I hope you have a Happy Turkey Day!

Oh no! Thank goodness the dog declared you alive! K, that was funny.

Co-worker, what's wrong with this person...I mean come on! Spank them, it always works. Maybe this person is in love with you and know they can't have you, and they are mad! Okay kidding, kidding!

Here's to a better day today. Enjoy the pain numbing wine while you rest your injured ankle.

As far as your co-worker, if they don't have the you know whats to tell you what's bugging them, move on. They aren't worth the aggrevation or your time trying to figure out what happened. Take it from one who has been there(and for me it is the new priest in my parish who for no reason that I can figure out, has shut me out of volunteering at my church and avoids me - his problem not mine, it's just not worth your time thinking about it.

Sorry about your ankle Kate! Have a good day (without trips)!
Love the photo!

Gee, that dog is amazing. Pretty soon, he'll have his own show on TV, right after House -- "George." But he'll be much nicer than House, and get all the women.

Hope you are soon feeling better. I sprained my ankle falling off a pony once, and had to walk home. No fun. Rest and wine sounds good to me. :)

xoxo,
Mary

I hope you are ok? How awful to fall and hurt your ankle of all things. It's not like you can not use it. Icy Hot! THat's what I used when My horse kicked me. It really seemed to help. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

You poor thing - do take care. And I would have cried too.

Owie!!! Sending hugs of speedy healing for your ankle. I've done that more times than I care to admit. No. Fun.

Could your friend be suffering from a sudden traumatic personal event? or depression? I know I'm so not my usual self when I get hit with a nasty wave of depression. Sadly it tends to drive my friends away when I really need them the most - not that I'm willing to admit or accept that during those dark, dark days. But it sure does hurt when I've recovered and see the loss I've suffered. Don't write him of just yet. Maybe send him a "thinking of you" note and give him time. If he doesn't ever come to you, go ahead and move on. But a sudden change in personality can signify something serious, so make sure he has some loved ones looking out for him if it is more than you can deal with right now.

Happy Thanksgiving to you three! I hope it is a quiet, pleasant day.

Ouch! Once again, I wish I were nearby to help...

That coworker is probably casting about for ways to be of help to you. Talk to him. Easier said than done, but that's what I would do. Take care of yourself, and no standing on that leg!
