How I spent my weekend. Part one.

I’m home from the 2nd annual Blog Fest, held at the home of Chesapeake Bay Woman, in Mathews VA. It’s late and I’m tired, so I’ll just show you some of the pictures caught in my camera lens this weekend.

How fun are these? Worn by my friend, Lauren (Mental P Mama).

Colorful local characters. This is Miss Pookie and her husband.

Miss Pookie gave us a little tour and told us of the history of Gwynn’s Island, where she was born.

My very first dragonfly capture.

I’ve been taking photographs for years and until this weekend, have never been successful with a decent capture of the elusive dragonfly. It’s not like I was making a serious attempt at it or anything, but still worth noting.

I discovered a trick. It includes being very hot and sweaty and using a long lens. Taken with my new Nikon 70-300mm.

I met new friends IRL. (Look at me, using cool abbreviations). This is Tracey Grumbach from Nine Acres Photography. It’s crazy we haven’t met before now. I’ve read her blog for over a year now and she lives in the next county over from me.

I took a fantastic sunset boat tour.

The mate was a mighty sailing man, the skipper brave and sure.

(you’re gonna be humming that all day now, aren’t you?)

DSC_0347 copy 2

This was our cabana boy at the beach.

Nah, I’m kidding. I couldn’t resist posting this photo of BHE’s nephew because he’s so darn cute. And I’m not getting my cougar on, so don’t be thinkin’.

DSC_0389 copy 2

George sent buttons for everyone.

He’d rather do that than meet IRL. Have I told you how shy he is?

This is the chandelier in the blue room at the White Dog Inn in Mathews VA. I was absolutely enchanted with this magic ship.

By the way, the White Dog Inn is absolutely, hands-down, fantastic. I need to elaborate but I am too tired tonight.

I had a such wonderful time and will continue with more pics tomorrow.

See you then,

Great photos and thanks for a great time. I'll never, ever, look at a cornfield the same way again, and every time I drive by that particular one, I'll think of you. And I will laugh. Lots.

Love to you and George.

Jealous. Esp of those thongs (flip-flops, whatever you call them). You got dragonflies, I got cow bits (in my blog post I mean).
You win!

Thanks for sharing your weekend, Part One. Looking forward to the next installment.

Oh, so jealous. Does IRL mean "in real life"? I love meeting blogpals in real life; I have yet to be disappointed.

oooouuuuwwwwhhh Seems you had so much fun. Love all the pictures. But want the flipflop your friend is wearing, already got the exact same nailpolish (so you think it will happen with the shoes to?)

It's always so much fun walking trough your space Kate. Thanks for your wonderful way of letting me have a peek into your life.

What a fun time! My husband said one day that he just "didn't get the whole cougar thing." Uh... really? Ahem. Well, don't worry your little head dear. I mean really, is there any explaining? LOL!

Would love to attend sometime... just can't do this humidity this year. It's keeping me indoors after 8AM.

Curious as to how many attended this fabulous week-end and oh.... congratulations on the dragonfly shot! Stupendous!!

George buttons, a dragonfly, a cabana boy, a crystal sailing ship, grape-enhanced flip flops! Now I call that everything you need to have a great time! Oh no, I forgot the ladies! You have nothing if you don't have the ladies!!! This is gonna be a big event one of these days!!! Did you stay at the Inn? I checked out the website and love the rooms at the B&B!

Country Girl said...

Jeanne Walker,
No, we stayed at a rental house nearby. Much less expensive. It would be awesome to stay at the Inn, though!

mmm,
If you e-mail me your address, I can send your parents photo to you, or mail to Janice.

Thanks, everyone!

I don't even know where to begin. It all looks fabulous. Including the cabana boy, although I did wonder about the beer in his hand...must do things differently on the east coast, I thought...

I know exactly when that was taken, I had walked down those fliptyflockety rocks one time too many and my foot hurt ... sigh ... it was such a great weekend.
