Two weeks ago, my husband caught this series of photographs of a house wren feeding one of its babies. The day after he took them, the little bird family moved from the birdhouse, but we see them from time to time.
Sorry about the poops. Just keeping it real here.
The little one is hungry.
And not so little anymore.
The parent approaches with what appears to be a cricket.
He comes in for the landing.
And begins . . .
. . . to place the meal in the baby’s mouth.
Beautiful.
And two weeks later, the baby sings for his supper.
But now he can get it for himself.
Pretty cool, eh?
I’d forgotten about these photographs and it wasn’t until this evening when my husband walked by, saw me working on the photo above and reminded me.
George would like to thank everyone for the birfday wishes. Tonight he asked me for the keys to the car so he can take out the French poodle who lives down the road. I told him to stay away from Fifi. She’s nothin’ but trouble!
Have a great day all ~ and thanks so much for coming by. Love ya.

Wonderful series of photos.
Mother Nature is truly special!
Oh oh...sounds like George is going to be a handful now he is a teenager! LOL Great photo's of the bird mama getting dinner for her baby! :D
Fantastic captures!
Before I forget...again! Great header.
I love the story unfolding in front of the camera...Nat Geo,move over.
Tell George he really needs to stick to the herding breeds because as intriguing or attractive as other dogs may seem, he will NEVER understand them, nor they him.
Hi Kate:
I really enjoyed your photo series tonight. Thanks for sharing them.

Oh, BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY George. Axel sends a mighty great WOOF your way. He'd like to play with your boy - a lot. And I'd let him... except for the whole 'bad influence' thing. (Great Danes are butt-headed goofballs). And the whole Pacific thing is a bit of a stumbling block too. But the thought is there...
:-)

PS Awesome baby bird shots - reminds me to update my topknot pigeons story.
I've heard bad things about fifi... she's high maintenance.
Enjoying all your images everytime I visit here, especially of your handsome George! ~Lili
It's such a beautiful sight to see the baby birds being fed by the parents! Loved these photos!
P.S. Tell George to definitely stay away from the poodles, but he should consider a beautiful Bernese Mountain dog girl named Scout!
Your husband is quite the photographer. I expect he accidentally stepped on the watermelon as he was shooting these, but I'm just guessing.
The last shot you were working on is just gorgeous.
Awesome photos! I am fascinated by you and your husband's photography!
Aww, let George borrow the car, Mom. It's his birthday and he'll find out how superficial she is after the first date.
Those are beautiful pictures! And tell George that all females are trouble! ;-)
Kat :)
Great series today Kate! It's wonderful that you also had such a great followup of the baby bird singing tonight!
Well done to hubby...fantastic photos Kate..thanks for sharing them with us. The poop is OK. Can cope.
Glad you talked some sense into George. Once they are teenagers they just want to go off n do their own thing, don't they?
Isn't that always the case with French poodles? :)
Great set of pictures. Both you and your hubby have a good eye for photography. Between the two of you and George this is always a fun place to visit. Loved the effects of the singing bird shot.
Wow your husband did really great capturing those shots!
Nora Ephron says (and I'm paraphrasing) If you have teenagers living in your house, get a dog. He is the only one who will show you some love.
So I'm sure that George is not your typical teenager!
awesome pics and GEORGE stay away from the poodle they are trouble!
Lovely pics to start my day. Thank you.
That last photo is stunning. Great capture and post processing!
I love wrens... just such fun, feisty little birds! Wonderful shots!
George...those French girls are trouble for sure...love the bird photos....poop and all...
Excellent shots of the feeding - but that last one with the baby singing for his supper blows me away! OUTSTANDING!!
Awesome shots .. was he using MY lens? LOL .... I am so excited .. I took a bazillion photos last nite after brilliant you and I spoke ... my favorite is a little Lego Astronaut .. I even dusted him off before shooting him ...
Ooh, la, la. Curly border collies!
Great photos by your hubby!
Great catch! Those are fabulous photos. I had no idea wrens had such long beaks.
Hahaha, poor George!
Seriously, that last photo is just gorgeous! And I love watching birds and their babies, these are really great shots. Aren't wrens funny?
Great captures!
<><
Love these shots! And I love what you did with that last sing shot ...gorgeous!
Teenagers...Fifi is probably going to break his heart...
Tell husband that's a waaay cool series of shots!
And I REALLY like what you did with the *grunge* layer on the last one....also waaaay cool. Jerry @ Shadowhouse really does us such favors, doesn't he?
Crickets for supper...yuck! I'd rather have grilled chicken!
Your new header is so Pioneer Woman! I love it to pieces.
Oh my goodness, we've had a House Wren nesting all over our yard this summer. He's already spawned two broods and now he's working on his third! Love the song but damn he's prolific.
Your husband did a great job, especially with that last photo. Nice layering too.
What a beautiful snippet of nature.. fantastic shots, Kate.
