I had forgotten all about it until I came home and pulled up what was on the memory stick. It’s a beautiful sunrise on the hill.
Oh, look. He signed it!
Well, it looks like that to me.
This one wasn’t all that great, so I added some texture to it. I used Scratch the Surface 4, a free download from [this set] at Shadowhouse Creations, as well as Shagreen Bone, available [here] from Flypaper Textures.
I used Shagreen Bone for the background here as well. These are the leaves on the dogwood tree. Or, as we call it, George’s squirrel tree.
Earlier this week, my husband and George went out the back door. George took off like a bat out of hell, chasing a squirrel and ended up biting it!! The squirrel shrieked, my husband said, and turned around (while he was being nipped) and batted at George with his paws. This must have surprised the dog, because the squirrel escaped and ran up the fence, and then dove headlong into the low-hanging branches of a tree.
Geez, George.
I think somebody needs to take his squirrel warrior job a lot less seriously.
Dinner tonight at our house. Pork chops with an apple salsa and acorn squash.
I love acorn squash. Especially when it comes right out of the garden. (And when it’s got a well of butter and maple syrup in it).
Calories be damned!
What am I talking about? I’d better be able to still fit into those pants for the wedding this weekend . . .

The documentary describes the making of the follow-up album to Born to Run, the classic that made him and the E-Street Band famous. He was 27 years old, burdened by a lawsuit that involved his former manager, and brooding about people’s expectations and the newfound fame when he wrote the Darkness album.
So, question for you . . .
What are your weekend plans? Inquiring minds want to know.
Love,

amazing pic and love the boss add!
ps check out my giveaway!
Never been a winter squash eater...really don't know what to do with 'em or how to serve 'em, but this acorn squash that you cooked up is intriquing. Might have to buy one and experiment with cooking it.
Love the pics from today and yesterday! Can you believe not too long ago it was so very hot, and now you're wearing a sweater and your vest! Ode to Autumn!
Hugs, Jeanne
My babies are coming home! And we will most definitely not be consuming acorn squash! But I would welcome a veddy civilized lunch date;)
I think I had plans, changed when I saw the pic of the Boss. Sigh.
Now I will drone on about age and Glory Days.
This weekend....I hang curtains that I have yet to make....I will go over to check on my parents....and I will be grateful for my sweetie....smiles.
I. LOVE. The picture of the leaves. That is so beautiful. They're all wonderful, but the leaves? Beautiful.
Your dinner sounds so yummy.
And speaking of dinner, this w/e it's Thanksgiving!
I am going to the Adirondacks, my favorite place in the world. Can't wait. The leaves should be gorgeous.
And now I am hungry for acorn squash, one of my favorites.
Years ago the big dog we had back then decided to chase a fox. He got halfway across the field and the fox turned around and bopped him right on the nose. My dog was so surprised he just stopped and stared. Silly dogs.
great shots by your hubby...George the warrior...my schauzer Jake is always on squirrel patrol...so far never caught one...the bird dog has caught a lot...especially the babies...
hopefully lots of outside activities this weekend is suppose to be nice
not sure yet about the weekend. i've never been the biggest boss fan but there are certain songs that i love by him.
i also love the flypaper texture packages.
Oh my- what a cool way to serve that acorn squash (cut like that!) It's beautiful! As are the sunrise images!
I like the pictures...what a sunrise!
Haha...George sounds like quite the dog....and so does the squirrel!!
This weekend....Football. Again.
And then...I think a good long mountain hike:)
Happy day/weekend to you!
Hiking, Kate!!! My boyfriend and I are in the White Mts. I'm not sure what hikes we will do, but I am hoping that my target toughie is on the list--Franconia Ridge!
Have a good one!!
p.s. That squash looks SUPER!!! I use butter and brown sugar.
Dinner looked yummy - that's the only way to eat winter squash :)
My youngest just turned 16. 9 teenage boys are overtaking my home for a birthday party/sleepover on saturday :) They are all good kids and it should be a blast.
Have a great weekend!
Hi Kate,
My daughter and I are going to a horse show just down the road....and very probably will see Bruce S. up and close and in person! His daughter is a top equestrian and she is always a top contender at this competition. One year he walked right by us and we said hi and complimented his daughter, Jessie, (she really is a beautiful and talented rider and deserves every compliment!). He smiled and said thanks. He looked really good by the way...and I nearly fainted.
Then he went into the port o john just like a mere mortal person...
If I see him this weekend I will let you know!

I wish I had some plans other than work.
I am off to the Tidewater area of Virginia to the Deltaville Seafood and Arts festival and hopefully meeting up with some famous bloggers.
Yummy looking dinner! This weekend will be spent cleaning and decorating for Halloween - one of my baby boy's favorite holidays. By Sunday our house will Halloween Tacky.... :)
It's Thanksgiving! I'm excited to be serving all of our homegrown veggies this year, including acorn squash, served with my husband's first ever batch of maple syrup. Yum-0!
~Andrea~
We're headed to Vermont just for the day tomorrow.. up Route 100... packing the camera, ofcourse!
One of your commenters name is Jeanne Walker, which is my Aunt's name, spelled exactly that way!.. She is 80 years old and in great health, walks every day. Just wanted Jeanne Walker to know there is a Jeanne Walker in CT!
Well it's my anniversary today(16YEARS) and my husband and I are attending my friend's 40th birthday dinner tonight! And then this beautiful fall weekend I plan to do a little driving north of the city to take alot of photos because this is the time to do it! All those vibrant colours, fields of gold and farmers markets can't wait!
p.s. took pics at the lake of pre sunrise too...what a beautiful morning!
ELPH will be back home tonight and the weather is supposed to be beautiful this weekend. I'm just hoping that the weekend holds more boat rides than yard chores:)
So Georgie, you were expecting no resistance....
Hubby fishing a b.a.s.s. event at the reservoir today and tomorrow.
Tomorrow, I'm helping with a pony birthday party..... Momma mia, what have I gotten myself into!
Staying close to home, preparing for next week's trip to Massey C.C. in Richmond, hoping the news will be good and preparing for if it's not.
Probably making more apple butter and drying apples for winter. Regular things in an attempt to pretend life is still normal.
I get to be the mom-of-the-groom this weekend. He and the lovely bride are being married on the river, on a riverboat. Yaaaaaaaaaaay!
Love the dogwood leaves! Woo.
Love the pictures. Clayton almost but never has gotten his prey (aka the squirrel) but usually is running so fast that he tumbles and rolls. Acorn squash is on my menu this weekend. Looks yummy!
FlyBoy and I are taking a much needed break together and JBM will be hanging with Ellen.
I love acorn squash ... my weekend plans include ritual beautification™ and some housekeeping... pre-packing for my trip on Weds. to Las Vegas, bay-beeee!
Such beautiful photos...even the bad ones!!!
I'm packing a small(ish) bag, loading up the bead bag, gathering the yarn and hooks........and waiting for my sister!!!!! :) :) :)
LOVE that sunrise shot! Incredibly beautiful.
The Frenchman and I have plans to sleep in. That's priority #1. After that, we'll be shopping for a tie & vest for his wedding ensemble. A nap may also be in the cards. The Frenchman has informed me that he'll be making me a traditional turkey dinner for Thanksgiving this year, although I don't get a long weekend. He's such a sweetie. Rain is predicted for the weekend, so it will be spent indoors.
Great photos! And our Mr. Quinn found a squirrel recently that fell out of a tree and was stunned...it shrieked too!
Plans for the weekend, pick up a mattress from our daughter, mow the grass, get mums, make my famous apple cake, and visit my friend who just had surgery!
Have fun at the wedding!
Kat :)
Relaxing, resting and more relaxing before the new quarter starts on Monday. I need it after last quarter. Have a wonderful weekend.
Just hoping to be able to get out and see my horse, it is supposed to be beautiful this weekend. Have to take advantage of these wonderful fall days before winter sets in.
Beautiful dawn photos! LOVE acorn squash, too! And that Bruce special was good.
Gonna enjoy the great weather this weekend. :)
We sure could use George around here, and he can be as serious as he wants to! Oh tomorrow we are going to an artist's reception in George's birth town. ~Lili
I have the grandchildren for an overnight tonight and all day tomorrow...will probably be too tired to do much the rest of the weekend:) If not there is an art festival I would love to go to if I can talk anyone else into going with me...and maybe out last sail of the year...
I didn't know about that special on Bruce! I am heartbroken that I missed it:(
