It’s been a fairly decent little weekend. Saturday dawned beautifully and I was up and out of the house early to go shopping for something to wear to a wedding I’ve been invited to next weekend.
The owner of the property came over later on with some members of his family and they practiced skeet shooting in the front yard, shooting towards the empty field that lies on the south side of the property. I love the fact that owner’s father taught him right at this spot and that now his son is passing on the skill to his children.
I took pictures of everyone with his wife’s camera. She’d told me she couldn’t be here but had sent it along hoping that they’d take some photos.
After a bit, I came inside and went online to Pioneer Woman’s site and was utterly shocked that she’d included the photo that I’d submitted in her most recent photography assignments. I haven’t submitted anything there lately because there are just so many entries that it boggles my mind. But this time, the theme was ‘Your Favorite’ and I figured it really didn’t matter. I chose this photo of my husband fishing, not because of its artistic merits but simply because it’s one of my favorites. I’m in Group 3 and the other entries are fantastic.

My trip to the mall didn’t take very long earlier. I had my mind set on an idea of what I wanted and went to a lot of different shops to get some inspiration.
This necklace at Banana Republic really caught my eye. But I really didn’t have time to build an outfit around a necklace.
In the end, I found everything at Ann Taylor, which I saved for my last stop, knowing it was probably where I’d find what I was looking for. I chose a pale grey silk diagonal ruffled top and paired it with an ivory-colored open front cardigan. I already have the slacks I’ll wear with it. The most fun element was that the salesclerk was one of our graduates from a couple of years ago and I loved this necklace that she picked out for me. And it was on sale (even better).
Sunday wasn’t so great. Remember the question about the recurring dream from Friday’s Q&A? Well, oddly enough, I had another of mine. They’re nightmares, these dreams, and this one left me feeling out of sorts for quite some time. I always have a bunch of people I’m trying to save and get to a safe place and I always end up losing some. I get frustrated that I can’t save them all. I did get outside and took a good long walk in this chilly weather we’re having and then went back for the camera and macro lens and got a lot of photos of things that had fallen to the ground.
I had a bit of a tiff with my husband. I think it was about sheets. I like my sheets of soft cotton and he prefers flannel as soon as the weather changes. I’m sure this is why my parents and so many of that generation had twin beds . . .

I love the colors of the leaf in the photo above and will post more this week of things I found on the ground. Yeah, it’s exciting business around here, isn’t it?

Thanks to everyone who participated in the Q&A. I read so many interesting answers that I’d like to share with you this week. Hope you all have a good start to yours.
Until tomorrow, then . . .

I have personally come to believe that sleeping together is pretty barbaric.
Sleeping alone in your own bed is a sweet joy that should not be saved for old age.
I savor it.
And even though husband protested at first, now he totally loves sprawling out uninhibited in his own space.
Joy.
The image of your husband fishing is so good it's actually emotionally moving, really!.. and I love the leaf. Just love it.
Congrats on having your picture chosen, I noticed and gave you a thumbs up. lol, that first necklace, I thot was belly dancing underwear...I think your lovely outfit you put together at Ann Taylor is so pretty. Beautiful leaf. Love Fall! I can't wait for it to really come to my neck of the woods.
I purchased a double strand of pearls a few weeks ago on clearance and it ties in the back with a ribbon, but just doesn't feel secure around my neck so now I'm afraid to wear it for fear it will come untied... sigh...
Love the necklace you chose.. from one of my fave stores by the way.
And flannel sheets always make me sweat. Great leaf shot!!

I used to love flannel sheets but now I can't stand them. They're just so warm. But I'll live!
I'll be belly dancing my way upstairs to bed soon. Becky, I can't believe you thought it was a belly dancing outfit! That's too funny.

Oh I love that fishing picture!
(And go for the separate beds....I will never go back to sharing:0)
Oh the bliss....;)
Until you said it, I thought my family was the only weird one who had twin beds as some sort of norm. My grandparents next door not only had twin beds, but separate bedrooms. (Perhaps that's a subject for another day, but still. Regardless of the dysfunction, they may have been on to something.)
You may not be able to save every single person in this world, but you do a darn good job of pleasing the piece of the world who reads your blog.
And CONGRATULATIONS on being featured on the Pioneer Woman's site! Please remember that I must accompany you to the lodge when she invites you or to Chicago when Oprah invites you.
I love feather beds. Handsome says they stick him when he sleeps. No feather bed. Like when you decide whether or not to have kids. The "no" always wins. sigh
I miss our hillside home in Wisconsin that overlooked a huge 65 acre, woods, lowland and field. We always shot clay targets in the fall. We'd just get in trouble trying that on our 3 acres in Florida! lol
Hope you're week is better. Perhaps a little wine before bed would chase those nightmares away?
Oh, yeah...Congratulations on being one of Ree's favorites! Hope you win!!!
xoxo

All of the photos in Group 3 are amazing! I bet your outfit looks wonderful, hope to see more photos of it soon.
Beautiful image of the leaf and your first one is just stunning.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time.
Hey, I want to be included with the group that goes to the ranch in OK to see PW!
My husband and I each have separate beds in separate rooms. We started sleeping apart when we were living as full-time motorhomers: my puppy and I in the queen bed and DH on the sleeper sofa in the LR. It became a way of life. Now that we own a home, I have my room and he has his...all is well here. I love my bed, my pitch-black room and no noise except for a fan that hums me to sleep!
Love the pic of your man. Hope it wins PW's photography contest! Again I wanna go!!!
Love, love, love the fall!
Have a greatly blessed and joyful week!
That image of your husband fishing has that hauntingly beautiful quality to it. Darn reoccuring dreams, I had mine too. ~Lili
I do hope your photo is the winner! It is, of course, my choice:)
I am having a recurring dream now, 3 nights in a row, that I'm pregnant. Oh what could that mean?
I still like snuggling up to my hubby on a cold night, but there are times I'd love my own bed.
the necklace you got (vs the one from BR) is lovely and works perfectky with that very chic top
I bought Oprah's raved about t-shirt sheets a few years back .. ToonMan could NOT sleep on them .. they were too warm ... GAH ... he also is so hot he cant sleep with the down comforter ... Jack Sprat & I share a bed but not the covers ...
Oh CONGRATS on being selected AGAIN at PW's place - you clever thing!
I hear you on the bed/sheets thing - although my husband likes to have the air ARCTIC in the bedroom. I swear I have ice hanging from my nose by morning in the middle of summer!
Sorry I missed your posts this week - been crazy here. Even my blog missed out!
:-)

Congrats on your photo being featured on PW's contest! And, I love the necklace too.
I love coming to your site - it makes me feel at home. :)
Man, I hear you about the flannel sheets! The last set I had was a very fine set from Land's End, but I still slept too hot. Until the day my husband begins changing sheets, they wll stay in the back of the linen closet!
Love your photo. And congrats on being selected. I completely missed PW last week, so didn't even know it was going on. I never submit...
Sleeping single in a double bed...surrounded by books and magazines and a tv overhead. My trusty lapside by my side, and a framed picture of that man fishing to inspire me to go see what hubby is up to sometimes...with your permission of course...grin!
That so reminds me of "Message in a Bottle" Do you take "ammo" with you when you go on hikes and sit by the sea????? That's a beautiful picture...don't care what you say!
Oh, and NO flannel sheets...
shiver!!!
I am not surprised that your picture with your husband by the shore was chosen, it's incredibly expressive!
Well do I remember tiffs with my ex regarding sleep habits; (I championed separate beds for years, but then, we're divorced now so don't take any advice from me). The fishing photo speaks volumes--it's sweet, and the necklace is, well, I'd borrow it if you let me. The leaf on the ground also speaks volumes. I love Autumn, and I loved the feeling that leaf gave me. Lovely post :)
I luv the photo of your husband. You know fishing is one of our favorite things to do.
LOL...my hubby wants a sheet, a blanket and a quilt even in the summer.....
I told him he could go thru the change for me and then he'd know why I don't even want a sheet on me!
congrats on the PW notice. that is awesome.
and the outfit - i like the necklace you got at AT but then i'm sorta the classic type at times.
the leaf is stupendously gorgeous.
I saw your photo over at PW, congrats! It is a fabulous shot.
And that leaf photo is stunning, it has such depth.
I'm with you I hate flannel sheets. My husband could care less either way so I win that one, but he snores a lot and for that reason, there are times I wish we had separate bedrooms. Oh well. Not in this lifetime...
I have to go check you out chez PW. You are going to be the belle of the ball;)
I would much prefer fussing over sheets than to be told that I s.n.o.r.e. Moi?
Beautiful photos. Love the silhouette of your husband fishing.
Custom make a sheet, sew one half of each together and both of you will be happy. No need to have a tiff about it. :)
Ann Taylor always seems to come to the rescue:) Love that soft grey with the necklace...
The fishing photo that was featured at PW is beautiful...I wouldn't be surprised if it won the whole shabang!
...as for sleeping accomodations...Mr O has an entire extra layer on his side of the bed only...:)
Oh, your outfit sounds lovely and that necklace is spectaculor!
I'm with Hilary--my hubby is a really early riser (about 4 or 4:30 a.m. and that last hour of sleep I get is so wonderful! I suppose we should get a King-size bed!
