Scenes from Greenport, NY

I wish I had more time to spend on the North Fork of Long Island, where I spent this past weekend. I was just so taken with the area and some day hope to go back and go all the way to the end, where Orient Point is situated.

Here are more scenes from Greenport, a charming waterfront village.

The beach in the early morning. I loved seeing the leaves among the stones.

This bench along Main Street makes me want to sit for a spell in the warm sunshine.

Loved this banjo-playin’ street musician. We all stopped to sing a song with him.

I love the feel of history about a place and enjoyed looking at these old photos at Bruce’s Cheese Emporium & Café along Main Street. Note the ceiling and the little brass bell at the top of the door.

I have a thing for mermaids, too. I have this one in a print by John William Waterhouse.

I took a walk down Carpenter Street off of Main and came to this rustic old sign. Lots of boats in the yard, too.

On another note, our dear dog has developed a flea allergy dermatitis. I’ve read that it often presents at age 3-5. Even if he has one single flea on him, he will be bothered by the bite. It’s not the flea that does the damage, but the incessant itching that ensues afterward. It’s my fault for not remembering the drops last month. And I have to do it in secret because SOMEONE doesn’t believe in doing the drops. Don’t even get me started on that.

George is on an antibiotic and a steroid now which I don’t like but had to do. He’s sleeping soundly as I write. We had a dog years ago, another border collie, that had FAD (flea allergy dermatitis). George will always have this, according to the literature I just read. Poor little pup.
