Stop trying so hard

Can I tell you something?

All week long I’ve come here, and try as I may to write a post or even choose some photos to share, nothing is forthcoming. I can’t talk, I can’t write, and all my words keep getting in the way of each other.

I’ve decided to stop trying so hard. I simply cannot post every day.

So rather than have the words fighting with each other, here are some photos I took this week to share with you.

DSC_9957 copy 2

I love Sunday breakfast. I’m going to look forward to that this weekend.

DSC_9954 copy 2

And I love my new bowl from {here}.

This one was half-price at the local mall.

DSC_9960 copy 2

I love salsa on my eggs.

Actually pico de gallo is what I prefer, but when I’m out of that, I’ll go with the salsa.

: : :

I am loving Instagram too, especially when I haven’t much to say.

Because all I need to do is upload a photo.

Here are a few that I shared this week.

Taken this Spring at 30th Street Station, Philadelphia.

IMG_20120628_063615

Taken yesterday evening in Charlestown, Maryland

where I met co-workers for dinner.

Sometimes, I just want to fly away.

Far far away from my troubles.

Do you feel that way sometimes, too?

: : :

And now, because inquiring minds want to know . . .

some questions for you.

1. Do you remember your favorite subject in school? How about your least favorite?

2. What was your favorite book as a child?

3. When you hear the word ‘summer’, what comes to mind?

4. What is your favorite summer drink? (Alcoholic or non – doesn’t matter)

5. If you’re living in the US, what are your plans for the 4th of July?

See you in the comments, my friends . . .

Oh my gosh I know what you mean. Since I made the idiotic commitment to post EVERYDAY this year it is a real challenge. Don't worry we're still here. I love your question posts and look forward to them.

1. My favorite subject in school, well I liked all the subjects, even English, Literature, Accounting, General Business, Ecology, etc. I really didn't like history or math, well, I liked history just not to take a test and remember that stuff. Gave me a headache!

2. My favorite book was probably The Boxcar Children. My favorite books were Nancy Drew and Trixie Beldon. In junior high it was Wuthering Heights.

3. Summer = tomatoes (veggies)

4. Favorite summer drink is Gin and tonic with extra lime!

5. My plans for the 4th, actually the weekend, this weekend is to go to the cabin area and stay holed up inside. Bad, BAD memories after The Hubby's accident a few years ago. The actual 4th we will stay in town and I will paint!

Have a great weekend and as usual love the photos...my fav is the eggs and I LOVE salsa on my eggs.

oh, ugh, yes, sometimes i feel just exactly like that. last night i curled up with a good book and read for hours, and that was almost the same as flying away.

1. My favorite subject in school was English, my least favorite; gym.
2. The Secret Garden
3. Reading, reading and more reading.
4. Right now, strawberry lemonade.
5. No big plans, which sounds perfect to me.

I hope you have a relaxing 4th... and that you get to fly away for a least a while. xo

I enjoy how honest and true you are to yourself. Thank you for sharing the pictures! You capture things so perfectly!!

1. Do you remember your favorite subject in school? I loved Math and my least favorite was history. It's kind of ironic that I love history now but I think it's because I'm not reading a dry book about it.

2. What was your favorite book as a child? I had 2 sets of favorite books: Little House on the Prairie and Anne of Green Gables. I still read them both all the way through every few years.

3. When you hear the word ‘summer’, what comes to mind? Sun and water.

4. What is your favorite summer drink? (Alcoholic or non – doesn’t matter) Iced Chai Tea latte

5. If you’re living in the US, what are your plans for the 4th of July? Having our Pastor over for dinner. I'm too pregnant to have a big gathering and I'm not up for crowds right now either. We usually do fireworks but they are banned this year due to it being so dry here in Wyoming.

I know exactly how you feel about blogging and have been taking a rather lengthy break except for my daily photo blog...that blog is nice because I really only need to write one sentence:) And as you know I absolutely love Instagram and it is fun to see you there!

1. Science was probably my favorite class in high school or Home Ec...reading in elementary. I hated math in both schools:)

2. Little Women...I probably read it at least 100 times.

3. The beach for sure! Heat and humidity!

4. Campari and soda with a slice of lime. Beautiful color that screams summer to me. Second choice is a gin and tonic:)

5. Until the last two summers I spent every single 4th of July for 59 years celebrating my sister's July 4th birthday with a family cookout involving clam cakes, chowder, lobster, and little necks. Since her death I unhinged and at loose ends on that day no matter what I do. I believe my children pick up on that and try to keep me busy that day... with sailing followed by a lobster and corn dinner cooked at home. No definite plans for this year...

Hi there! Who says we have to blog every day? The blog police won't be coming and knocking on your door!
But I know the feeling - wanting to, trying to and somehow nothing comes together. Time to let it all just be. The creative juices sometimes need to be left alone to work their magic.
I send you an enormous Mediterranean hug!!!

1. School. Favourite was Latin as the teacher was so fascinating. Least was Chemistry as that one wasn't

2. Anne of Green Gables. Ballet Shoes. Chalet School series.

3. Summer. Swifts in the sky. Hot nights with only a sheet. Swimming in the sea.

4. Cold beer. I should be more adventurous!

5. I don't live in the USA but my stepson is going to Brazil on July 4th and I will be celebrating. What a wicked stepmother I am!

Another big hug!

Favorite subject in school was history. Least favorite and actually more like HATED was Phys. Ed. I was skinny, uncoordinated, always chosen last. Favorite book was Little Women. I must have read it at least a dozen times. Ahhh, summer. Sitting on my screened-in back porch watching birds, butterflies, squirrels, rabbits. Although it's so hot right now, it's impossible to enjoy being outside. Favorite drink is cold Coors Light. No plans for 4th of July. Wish I was doing something but no point in feeling sorry for myself. I'm blessed. Take Care, even when you don't write, we all enjoy your photography and it inspires all the rest of us to try harder.

Oh, goody, I always love everyone's answers to your questions!! Here goes:
1. favorite subject in school? Reading and Art

least favorite? Until 5th grade I loved all subjects, but after 5th grade I didn't care for MATH. The funny part of this is that when I became a teacher I was determined to get better at math and learn better ways to teach it. It ended up being my FAVORITE thing to teach!! I even taught Math Methods class to education students at the University!!!!

2. What was your favorite book as a child? I remember we were never allowed to use Nancy Drew books for school book reports and they were frowned upon as "literature" but one of my best memories is getting the latest N. Drew book, curling up in the arm chair (that I still have - reupholstered many times since) and diving into the mystery of it all!

3. When you hear the word ‘summer’, what comes to mind?
Making apricot jam

4. What is your favorite summer drink? (Alcoholic or non – doesn’t matter)
Lemonade

5. If you’re living in the US, what are your plans for the 4th of July?
I'm celebrating with friends at a non-barbecue pot luck. This year the host is having everyone bring U.S. history questions for the annual History Quiz!!! So intimidating, but fun:))

I don't post every day any more. It's too much pressure and I don't always have anything to say. So, I've taken Thumper's mother's advice and interpret 'nice' as 'interesting': "If you can't say anything nice, don't say nothin' at all."

1. My favourite subject was English because I loved to read and I did well in class.

2. In spite of my answer to #1, I don't recall having a favourite book. I did have a favourite record - it was a collection of classic stories by the Brothers Grimm read by an adult Shirley Temple. My favourite movie was Mary Poppins starring Julie Andrews.

3. When I hear the word summer, I imagine the feel of the sun on my skin, the lazy sound of bumblebees collecting their honey and soft breezes carrying the scent of freshly mown grass.

4. My favourite summer drink would be frozen slushies. This year's flavour favourite is root beer.

5. I'm Canadian. We celebrate Canada Day on July 1st. I don't have anything particular planned except to wish my niece a happy birthday on that day. I think our village has fireworks, so I may take that in later that night. I remember being pleasantly surprised by how good they were last year, our first year here.

Then we're off to the Alleghenies to see our 7-year-old grandson, David, be baptized on the 8th, and then back to see our grandson, Rob--who is now 21--be baptized on the 15th! What's going on here! :) They're the best things I can think of.

5. If you’re living in the US, what are your plans for the 4th of July? Going to the festivities here in town: Hot Air Balloon Rally, Kids Bike Parade etc

Have a fun Fourth!

Daily posts can definitely run into dry spells... your post are usually awesome, so you skip some just don't abandon us! :-)

And now for the curious...

1. Do you remember your favorite subject in school? That would have to be history! How about your least favorite? Definitely Algebra, that one really got me!

2. What was your favorite book as a child? Not so much as a young child but more a 'tween "Down These Mean Streets" by Piri Thomas. Given to me by my sixth grade teacher... looking back I wonder what she was thinking, but I will never forget this book.

3. When you hear the word ‘summer’, what comes to mind? Swimming pools, barbeques, and old pop music!

4. What is your favorite summer drink? (Alcoholic or non – doesn’t matter) Frozen Daquiri

5. If you’re living in the US, what are your plans for the 4th of July? Don't have any yet

Omgosh...I almost missed questions! How did that happen???

1. My favorite subject in school was biology. My least favorite a tie between math & english. I could have liked English but always have awful teachers.

2. Favorite book as a child, The Cricket in Times Square.

3. Unfortunately, a large chunk of my life lately has been living in places with ungodly summer temps. So hearing the word summer actually makes me cringe. How sad huh?

4. Iced coffee, period.

5. The 4th of July is my birthday. My plans are talking to anyone who calls to wish me a happy day, a big fat black olive pizza, a coffee ice-cream cake & watching fireworks.

I just love your questions! But i'm a little late to the party as i have been out of pocket but here you go!!!

Fav subject Science...least fav...MATH...

I really don't remember reading much before i was a teenager when my grandmother introduced me to romance novels...funny i don't read romance novels anymore...lol

The only thing that comes to mind when i think of summer is aircondition....sad i know but true...

Really anything cold and wet but i'd have to put ice tea at the top of the list.

No plans for the fourth. Just gonna hunker down and hope they don't set off any more fires! Please be careful people!

Love, love, LOVE botany, hated algebra!

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

Bull thorns, melty tar in the road, home made popsicles, apricots off the tree, lazy buzzing bumble bee, taking a nap in the shade

Peach iced tea, a margarita on the rocks

Lie low.

Thanks for this opportunity to walk down Memory Lane.

Ahh.... sometimes all it takes are pics - no words needed! LOVE that last shot of the birdie of course - and LOVE your instagram shots!!!
Now I'm late in answering the questions but I'll give it a shot:

1: favorite subject - Yikes - I really had no favorite - but my least fave was History - I had a terrible History teacher.

2. Favorite Book - Charlotte's Web - I still have the hard back my mother bought for me as a Christmas Gift. This was the book that started my LOVE of reading.

3. Summer - immediately my mind thinks of butterflies.

4. Summer Drink - Strawberry Daiquiri

5. Resting up from my 10 day vacation :) Thankful for AC - so many around us don't have it. Hoping to get to edit some of the zillions of pics I took while away - and getting caught up on Laundry :)

Have a Wonderful Day Kate!!
