New beginnings

It’s early afternoon on a cloudy Sunday in Maryland as I write this. My knee feels much better but is still not good and I want to thank everyone for the advice on the cortisone shot. I leave late this week for Stockholm and I really want to be able to walk around just a bit.

I took these photos early this morning while I was sitting outside having my coffee and tossing a stick to George. I haven’t been able to walk him lately and stick is the next best thing, I guess.

My playlist, as I write this post:

We Never Change – Coldplay

Northern Wind – City and Colour

Wonderlust – The Night VI

Clair de Lune – Lauren Sullivan

St. Patrick’s Day – John Mayer

Lost Stars – Keira Knightley

I love music. And yes, that last one is actually sung by Keira Knightley, the actress. If you haven’t seen Begin Again yet, I recommend you do. I have this thing for Mark Ruffalo and when I saw he was starring in it, and then read that it was about music, I checked out the trailer and promptly went to my local Red Box. Really loved it.

I was surprised to get so many comments regarding an offhand comment I made about my blog having run its course. I am not going to quit writing, ok? I was just saying that I could feel myself pulling back from it all. But it’s good to write. It makes me feel more connected, I guess. And I have a lot of friends and family who keep up with me this way. Which is why I can’t talk about them all and tell you what bitches some of them are.

Gotcha there, didn’t I? You know I am totally kidding on that one, don’t you? I don’t think I have any friends or family who are bitches, come to think of it . . .

I think she hears a wee mousy.

We have had two tiny little ones in the house this fall.

Ugh.

Yesterday morning, I sat in the sunshine while I had my coffee. What a difference a day makes. This morning’s clouds were beautiful, though.

I have always loved bare branches against an interesting sky.

You can tell it’s November.

Bare branches reflected in the storm door.

I have been meaning to paint this door since we moved here and I finally did last month. My husband was against it for some unfathomable reason. I painted it basically the same color that it might have been before it was completely faded to a near pink color and I polished the brass knocker too. I know the wreath is too small but I don’t care.

Here’s the trailer to Begin Again.

Oh, and I have every intention of blogging from Sweden, so keep posted.

Until then ~

I've got the same thing for Mark R so thanks for the suggestion.
We all need at least one "friend" or family who is a bitch so we can feel better about ourselves :-) heehee
A small wreath is better than no wreath.
My stupid iPad won't show the trailer so I'll check it out later!
Cheers and happy packing

You don't know any bitches? Really?? LOL... I admit I do miss your photos when you are quiet here, but the point of blogging is really to fill a need in you. And the wonderful thing about blogging is that you make the rules... it's all up to you. Perhaps you want to change the focus of it? I so adore your bird pics - are you not shooting as many these days? Anyway, I should talk... very quiet at my place lately too! But I shall get back into it. Not done yet!!

I am so glad your knee is feeling better, Kate, and I hope it continues to do so.

You have a safe and wonderful trip!

I think the door looks great! The color is great on a white house.

Sorry if I was one of the people harassing you about your blogging practices... I am the last one who should complain! :-)

Have a wonderful, safe trip... I hope your knee allows you to roam wildly!

So glad you're not quitting writing the blog :D I want to see that movie now, because I recognized one of the guys is from Doctor Who! And it's about music, which I love, so it's a win-win. :)

Aha! So I wasn't the only one alarmed that you may "drift away", huh? Did you get my reply to your kind e-mail, by the way? My computer has been in a funk...well, maybe that's me in a funk. Or both!
Do I remember Ruffalo being in a movie where it seemed his character was sort of a psycho or stalker? I don't think I've watched hum in anything since....so convincing! Maybe I've mixed him up with another actor--I do tend to do that. A lot. My son gets so exasperated with me about this, we've almost stopped discussing movies. Or I'll just nod my head when he's talking about an actress or actor--just as though I know just who he means! ;) I could just huffily say, "Well, you don't remember who Charles Bronson or Richard Burton were--so there!" (Unfortunately, he's so good at movies, he WOULD be quite familiar with them.)

I am sending hopes and prayers for your knee to recover, sweetie. A bum knee-- that's the last thing you need on a trip of a lifetime, but people in all sorts of shape and sickness go off on great adventures and have a ball.

Keep on keepin' on just like you want--this is your space; we're just crashing anyway! Take lots of pictures, eat lots of the cuisine, hug on your son! Oh...and have a very wonderful Thanksgiving, lady.

Trudy

Kate - have a wonderful trip!!! Take tons of pics (like I even have to say that!). I always keep a journal so that when I look back on my pics I can remember where they were taken. Sometimes, when you have hundreds they all start to look the same! But I hope the knee holds up and it's nothing but glorious.

I have been to Sweden and it's a beautiful country..Be careful walking on those cobble stone streets.. Bad for one's knees. I did buy a brace for my knees while there and it really helped me.
Love your blog and George and all the lovely things you get to see and do everyday..

its a long flight so be sure you get up and walk up/down the aisle every so often or your knee will not like it and you wont be able to get around and take pix as much once you get there! and you forget me, I am indeed bitchy

Have a wonderful trip! I look forward to your posts as always... and I have been melancholy about my blog lately too.. very busy in a good way and just not wanting to spend the bit of free time on the computer. Just now catching up with blog friends and their happenings...

Oh, yes, I do love Mark Ruffalo, too. I'm going to have to watch for this on Netflix. Have you seen him in Thanks for Sharing? It's a bit of a risque subject, but he's brilliant in it.

You made me laugh with your reference to the bitches in your life. I used to fly under the radar, but now, I've discovered that old clients and even strangers here in Little Itty Bittyville have googled me and made their way to my blog. So, I'm having to censor myself a wee bit and be careful what I say and reveal. I kind of miss my anonymity.

Have fun in Sweden. I'm looking forward to your virtual postcards.

Bon Voyage,

Have a great time! Nice to think you will be closer:)
Don't forget what I told you about trigger points and knees and ankles - massage on the points that are not the main problem but which add to it! Helped my ankle when nothing else did.
Love to George and to mouse sniffing puss

I love pictures of landscapes against clouds. Clouds can set the mood for a picture.
