It's the little things that matter

I know that my Simple Woman's Daybook post yesterday may have sounded a little bit down. It just gets that way sometimes, and although I don't like to talk a lot about my troubles, sometimes I can't help it. Thanks to all of you for your wonderful comments and a huge welcome to the new faces I'm seeing lately. Good to have you all stopping by.

And yes, the movie was Moonstruck, one of my favorites. When Nic Cage tells Cher that he's in love with her, she promptly tells him to "SNAP OUT OF IT!" Lordy, was she ever beautiful after she stopped by that beauty salon and they finally got their hands on her hair and colored all the grey out of it.

Today WAS a little bit better, if I say so myself. And I will. Say so myself.

Work was a whirlwind of activity with the constant phone calls among all my regular duties in the K-12 private school where I'm employed. But I got a nice surprise when one of my co-workers called me on my office phone to tell me to check out Pioneer Woman's Photography page because one of my photos was posted there. Whoa, Nelly!!

Ree at the Pioneer Woman has a flickr group called PW Flickr photo pool that I just joined last week. I submitted a couple of photos using her actions, and it was this one that she posted. This is a photo of my friend, Mary Ellen, who was one of the women I went to NYC with last December. I took it on the subway as we were returning back to the apartment after having dinner with my son. Of course, she doesn't think it's a good photo of her, but I beg to differ. Hey, P-Dub liked it.

Then when I came home after work today, my husband had a cup of tea waiting for me, AND he had the Bruce Springsteen Halftime Show from last night's Superbowl last waiting for me on YouTube. (I'd missed it because I wasn't feeling well and went to bed early. )

And he had a hug for me.

And so, my day is complete. I hope your Monday was a good one, too.

Until tomorrow, my friends . . .

PS ~ Here's a shout out to Doris who I don't know but who reads this blog. I hope you are well and are beginning the process of putting your life back together after your husband's long battle with cancer. Please know that I think of you often and wonder how you are coping.

That is a beautiful photo!

Good to hear you are feeling better today.

Thank you for hoping our Monday was a good one too - yes, I've had a good Monday - largely because of bloggy friends who have made the cold weather bright and glowing with their humorous and brilliant comments!

It's like passing warmth around and seeing it grow; here's some for you over the blogosphere too!

Hot tea and a warm hug. {sigh} There is nothing in the world worth more than a hug from a loved one. Okay...I love it when my grandchildren argue about who is going to sit on my lap...or when they tuck their tiny hand in mine. I guess I like all kinds of physical contact. And a hot cup of tea. Hugs to you, sweet Kate. I hope you're feeling warmer :)

P.S. Thanks for responding to my S.O.S. on texturizing. I'm back to the drawing board to try again.

You sound good today. But it's good to hear from you whatever your mood or situation. And you missed a great last quarter last night. :)

Congratulations on the P-Dub photo!

I am so glad to see that you had a better day. How exciting to see your work on PW's site. WOW! And how sweet to have tea waiting for you. I think he's a keeper.

We all have bad days, and I don't think any of us can be upbeat everyday. Especially when you are so amazing with posting everyday. Life happens and we all understand. I'm learning that part of the beauty of this blog thing is that we can all help each other( even long distance) during the hard times and rejoice with each other over the good times. And I think that's pretty cool.

My prayers are with you my friend.

♥hugs♥

I guess it's time for me to comment as I have been following this blog for awhile now and love your openness and the fact that you are letting us in on this journey God has you and your husbnd on....I pray often for your husband while he is home and you are working and he's working too on getting better. God bless you both

Thank you so much,Kate for the comment. I still read and enjoy you every day. It has been a month now since my husband passed and reading blogs helps me to pass the time and get my mind off of everything for a while. I emptied out his pickup today and plan to have the oil changed and get it washed and cleaned up soon. I had in mind to sell it, but I drove it to town today for the first time ever and I think I may just keep it. It is so hard for me to climb up into, but once there it drives great ! My car is 15 years old and I love it, but this truck is only 6 years old and is paid for, so why not? I am doing ok,except for the loneliness. So much to do and so many decisions to make! It is a lot to adjust to. At least my oldest daughter comes over nearly every day and helps me. I will be ok, it just takes time. And I have a lot of that on my hands lately. I do have his dog,Rocky Road, to keep me company and sleep with me. He is a Jack Russell Terrier, so you know how active they are ! I just wish I was able to take him walking like Buddy used to do .I don't have a blog so I can't leave a link, but my e-mail is dlindsey@etex.net. Thanks for your concern . Doris

I saw your photo on PW last night - very nice. But I usually save your blog for morning reading before work when I can enjoy it with coffee. And, where did you find your patterns for your photo textures...I've played with few, but like yours so much.

I like the snowy header pic, btw.

Hey there Country Girl! Glad to see you are over the Monday blues...we all have them...important thing is to not let them turn into Tuesday blues and Wednesday blues...and so on... ;-))
Interesting to read you work with kids, I do also!! It's very rewarding and no day is the same...great isn't it!!!
It's freezing here in Norway, the sun has gone to bed and I'm not able to get the fire going fast enough...a cup of tea (your cup was gorgeous) looks delightful...
Have a great evening...

So cool that your photo is over there on PW's site - as it deserves to be! And I am glad that you are feeling a little better today. You are in my prayers very often - if God brings someone to me remembrance, I say a little prayer for them and He brings you to mind almost every day.

And are you good luck for me or what? I won another giveaway I heard about here - Char's pay it forward. So tomorrow I am paying it forward too :).

And Doris may not read through all the comment but she is in my prayers now too.
