will stop a border collie on the go.
It’s as if the weather doesn’t matter to George.
Sometimes when he misses the frisbee, he must dig it out from under the snow!
These photos were taken Monday. I know today is Wednesday, but we don’t get snow here in Maryland like we used to when I lived in Pennsylvania years ago.
And it will probably the last time this winter. We had 8 inches and most of it is still on the ground. I think it’s beautiful.
Yes, to those who have written, my husband is the elusive man. I don’t think I have a full photo of him on this blog, but there’s a good one [here]. I mean, if you’re interested in the slightest. Why, I have no idea.
Until tomorrow, my friends . . .
Awesome. I was just talking to my friends about how we are missing the snow here this winter. We usually have at least 3-4 really good snows but all we've had is 2 small dustings. No snowman building, hot chocolate drinking, need to bundle up and build a fire snows at all. At least I have your pictures to look forward to.
Our freak snowfall Sunday is almost all gone. Tiny pockets still remain where the sun hasn't penetrated. Temps are forcasted to be in the high 70's by Sunday. It's almost pool time! Enjoy your snow, Kate :)
Dear Country Girl... I simply love your blog! ... and your pictures are beautiful too.
Those are awesome shots....like you turned them black/white then colored back in the frisbee......but oh so natur-al.
We have had sunshine all week so far and the snow is melting, but I'm not holding my breath on it being gone for good!! I've learned my lesson!
Have a happy hump day!
Hello and welcome to Merrim. And to Cindy, I didn't turn them to black & white. These are SOOC with a little bit of PW's boost action. Just wanted to put that out there!
We have another two-hour delay because some of the county roads are slick with thick ice.
I used to love the snow in Maryland... no wind or drifting... it would just fall from the sky like a Norman Rockwell painting. We get snow like that here in Roanoke too. The sight of it is almost too beautiful to bear.
Like George, our Handsome and Missy love the snow too... they have been in and out the doggie door a hundred times since the snow fell.... Love that it makes them happy.
The Blue Ridge Gal
Every photo and story I hear about George has convinced what a great dog he truly is! Nice to see him enjoying the snow!
He needs one of those brandy kegs under his neck. You know, for sustenance.
George is having a blast. Our lab, Katie was in heaven. She wanted someone to run and play. Dixie was okay but used the potty and went back inside. She is not in a great mood anyway. Still on tennis ball restriction. Bella wanted no part of the snow. When we put her on the ground, she just stook there and shivered. Your play by play shoots are great.
George is one fun pup. I'm glad he and your husband find so much pleasure sharing a plastic, red disc together. Looks like it was a great day.
He doesn't notice the weather because he is living in the moment, have you ever noticed when you are taking pictures and truly focused you don't notice those things either.
Ha ha ha - I LOVE that George plays frisbee in the snow! Our dog LOVES to play frisbee too - but she's a 12 pound poodle that would never be able to jump through the snow fast enough to get the frisbee! (So the frisbee sits on the counter all winter long.... Sometimes we find her staring at it longingly...)
For now, she's stuck playing with the tennis ball inside, or playing hide and seek when we get home from work... What a life! :)
wonderful shots and time together is always beautiful
You got more snow than we did! These photos are so cute -- there is something deeply satisfying at the sight of George having SO MUCH FUN!
It's really cold this morning -- 11 degrees. I've been driving Katie to school because she doesn't want to walk in the cold, and I don't blame her.
Hope you enjoyed your snow day and delayed opening. :)
My favorite is the one of George crouching in anticpation as your husband walks towards him. He looks like he's holding his breath yet panting at the same time.
Our little meager snow storm was nothing compared to yours. I love when it snows as long as I have no where to drive.
As for the snow storm, you captured the snow at its most beautifu moment.
Let me ask you this...what layout do you use in blogger?
Why we would be interested in what your husband looks like? That's a great question- I have no clue really- I'm just extremely curious by nature- you talk about him a lot in your blog and I guess for me I just like to have a face to go with who we are talking about...I've seen your little face behind your camera in your profile photo and I'd recognize George anywhere..so I guess it was just the final piece that was missing was what your honey looked like and now that curiosity is satisfied..thanks :-))
Hey- I was thinking- it's a good thing George's frisbee is red...easier to find when it gets buried in the snow!!! We have a light green coloured one..I don't think we'd find it as easy...but now our snow is melting (moan) so we may never know...ugh...
Have a great day!!!
Now that our snow has gone it is lovely to view the white stuff on someone else's patch. George is in his element - our dogs are the same when the snow falls.
I just attended a dog show where some Border Collies were featured herding ducks. I don't know if I've ever before seen the kind of excitement that those dogs showed. If only I could get that kind of focus going!
He's such a sweet dog and he loves being out and playing with your man.
OH Kate !!! HOW ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!! It looks like so much fun! Isn't it amazing how dogs don't care, rain, shine, sleet or snow.... "let's play!" is all they care about. We really need to learn from them.
Thank you for your sweet comments about hubby! Another thing we can learn from dogs is how they react after surgery...they just play through their "pain" too! Amazing creatures, aren't they!
Enjoy your snow while it lasts.
And I am with you....why is it that all want to see your hubby...I like that he is the elusive man! lol :) hugs, cheryl
Forgot to mention, how much I love the look that George is giving you in the first picture! He is some dog......!!! lovehim xoxo
Looks like they had a great time! Border collies have endless energy...nice to see it expended on having fun!
That snow is just beautiful and George romping through it is really cute.
I just love that dog!
Deb, I sent you an e-mail. I use Minima.
Thanks, all. I also can't believe how many of you went to see my husband's pic!!
That George is one of the handsomest dogs I've ever seen! And he's having entirely too much fun in the snow.
Pretty pix! Our Ralphy (God rest his doggie soul) was king of the frisbee.
George makes me smile, as does your husband playing with him. Wonderful pictures of wonderful subjects.
Delightful!!! Makes me feel cooler just looking...
One question: how do you get your layouts to do this (four in a set)?? Love the look.
CG - thanks for the comments at my place! I am honoured... been searching for the post you refer to and feeling like a dill - can't locate it! Can you possibly email me (email@example.com) with the link.
Your challenged friend!
Your pup is so sweet looking and I love the action shots with the red against the white snow!
Elusive yet wonderful.
git it George, git it!
Ah, George. Such a lovely dog. You can keep the snow your way though...
