Outside my window the skies are growing stormy.
I am thinking that this beer I’m having is really good. It’s Dogfish Head Shelter Pale Ale, brewed in the next state over, Delaware.
I am thankful for friends.
From the kitchen, we just had Albacore tuna salad sandwiches. I had mine on an English muffin with a slice of Swiss cheese, spring greens and tomato. Unfortunately for my waistline, I had potato chips as well.
I am wearing a pair of jeans, a white t-shirt and an old J.Jill long-sleeve denim shirt in pale blue. I am such a countrybumpkinfashionista.
I am creating a mosaic of orchids to post on Flickr.
I am going on a road trip this month. Want to come along? I’m kidding. We couldn’t all fit in my car.
I am reading something I pulled off the library shelf last night. It’s “To Ocracoke! Boyhood Summers on the Outer Banks” by Fred M. Mallison. I love this book.
I am hoping that I will lose weight just by wishing real hard. Um, yeah.
I am hearing golf on tv. My husband likes to watch golf. He says it’s calming and there are no referees to make a bad call.
Around the house it smells like Vanilla Lime candle scent from Yankee Candles.
One of my favorite things is a visit to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA. I went there today with a friend and it was wonderful.
A few plans for the rest of the week include the school auction this Saturday night. My friends from NJ are coming to stay overnight and attend with me. I need to get a new pair of shoes to wear to it as well.
Here is picture thought I am sharing
This is a blue poppy that I photographed today at Longwood Gardens. I used a texture from Joy St. Claire on it. I posted another flower on my Picture a Day Blog.
When I saw these poppies, it made me very happy. All of Longwood Gardens makes me very happy.
For more of the Simple Woman’s Daybook, visit this site. I rarely post on the Mr. Linky there; I just filling in the sentences every week. It’s a simple thing for me to do. Hope your day is a good one.
Until tomorrow, my friends . . .

that poppy is just stunning - it took my breath away when I saw it on flickr. well, it's so gorgeous that I wish I had seen it to photograph it too. love Joy's stuff...it works perfectly with that shot.
I will have to see if I can find that book - I love the outer banks.

That Blue poppy is incredibly beautiful and vibrant~!!
Oh Kate, that is such a beautiful blue poppy ~ and I love the texture you used.....very pretty!
I am drinking a beer as well. I don't drink hardly ever, but I was so thirsty, and I drank all the o.j. and the only other thing was Mtn Dew and I didn't want the sugar...so all I could find was beer! I surely didn't want water...not until it gets hot out! And it tastes really good!
Lastly, I always buy the Blueberry Yankee candle....but you have me sold on the Vanilla Lime.... Oh, wouldn't that make an awesome Ice Cream Flavor??????????? Yes!
Absolutely love this picture!! It's beautiful!
Lovely surreal poppy there.
Countrybumplinfashionista....LOVE that word...hahahahaha...I'm going to use that to describe my style from now on too!!
And hey- let me know if that wishing really hard ever pays off with a weight loss..I've been trying it over here but nothing's happening so far..so if it works for you I'll come visit you and see if some of the magic wears off on me!!! ;-)) hahahaha!!!
Have a super day!!
That seems like such an unlikely colour but god, it's gorgeous.
And this, "I am hoping that I will lose weight just by wishing real hard." this is exactly how I lose weight, or, er, try to lose weight. ha! Never works. Sorry.
Maybe if we all wish real hard, we'll all lose weight.
what vibrant colors and sharp detail, I loved it, was a great pick me up for a Monday morning
that sandwich sounds yummy
Such a gorgeous image of the poppy! Love the colour and texture. Your Simple Woman's Daybook entries are fun to read :-)
countrybumpkinfashionesta? you are a funny lady~
spectacular flower ..
Husband was switching back/forth between golf and basketball ...all afternoon
Hi Ms Kate,
such a list of comments. I don't know if you get them on back posts so I'm writing one to cover three posts here, I'm sorry!
First, you can never, ever ever have too many pictures of hyacinths. The bluepurple ones.
And then after that, other bluepurple flowers. Like the poppy.
Second, did they have the pansy walk at Longwood this year?
Again with the bluepurple flowers...:-)
Also, I flat-out love the word soupcon. Read it in Little Women when I was small. Have never, ever used it. So was delighted that you did here!
Thanks!
That is the prettest blue flower I have ever seen. I like your Simple Women's Day Book I think that is something I could do.
ohhh that's gorgeous.
What a lovely shade of blue that flower is! I have to stop eating tootsie rolls in the middle of the night when the dogs want to go out. I could move them from that spot I continuously pass by. But better just not to buy them. After all, I'm not giving up my little Hershey's milk chocolate pieces with almonds!
Brenda
LOVE that poppy!!! The texture really looks perfect on it. I eat my tuna sandwiches on an E-muffin with spanish olives. Yum! :)
