I finally opened my graduation photo files from Sunday evening. Took me long enough, I think. I don’t have much of anything to share with you but at least I started working on them and the few that I can show you are below.
I would never share photographs of the students at my school without permission, but these are mostly taken from behind. After the ceremony that is held in the auditorium, the seniors proceed to one of the outdoor courtyards where they wait in a receiving line and are greeted first by the faculty and then by all the guests.
When there were only a dozen or so of them, as it was in 2003 when our son, Matt, graduated, there are now over 30. This makes the line much longer, but it is what it is. I like this one where they are all waiting. The girl in the foreground is the fourth and last in her family to graduate, beginning with her older brother in 2000, I believe.
Our salutatorian is the little blonde you see, and that’s my friend and co-worker, Alisa, who is giving her a hug. This year’s graduating class was in kindergarten when I started at the school.
My friend and co-worker, Christine, with two of her daughters. They live in the development right through the trees off our property. The one on the left takes care of our plants when we’re away in the summer. The one on the right is home from college. We had trouble getting them all together for a family photo because there were so many people.
You see? Their daughter was graduating this year and we couldn’t find her older sister for the shot, so I took one without her. We call Christine’s husband “Saint John” partly because he’s a great guy and partly because he’s in a houseful of womenfolk.
And that’s all I got for you today.
So how are things in your neck of the woods? It’s supposed to be super hot here on Wednesday. I may have to invest in a kiddie pool.
Kidding.

Kiddie pool sounds like a good deal. It didn't get as hot here today as predicted, but there's much more heat on the way. Is summertime over yet? ugh.
it has been TOO hot here and TOO dry - just TOO early for this already even for Texas. But I am grateful for the electrical service that runs our A/C! :)

Hot here too... hey.. there's something to be said for those kiddie pools... nothing like sitting with your feet in them reading a book and sipping an iced tea with fresh mint. Or a Mojito. Those work great too.

Seems a reasonable crowd....my graduating class in '75 was 856 total, took for ever to "walk" that group...smiles.

Oh--it brings back good memories of when my kids graduated. Their graduating classes never got as large as 30!

got a 'kiddie' pool for granddaughter, she loved it and then went home...i loved it for the rest of the summer...you can reline, pad your head in a cozy way and sip your beverage without getting your book wet.....all good.
and dog and cats and chicks love the handy sipping pool...

Hot here yesterday and today. Under heat advisory until midnight. Mid 90's with heat index in the 100's. Ugh!
Supposed to be mid 70's tomorrow. Ahh! (Southwest lower Michigan.)

So lovely to see them all dressed and looking so grown up. The candid shots are really quite special.
We noticed a few weeks ago that our very energetic puppy wasn't running around and playing and was, instead, just laying in the shady spot under the lilac bush. He's a black lab and it doesn't take him long to get hot. So, we went down the hill to the Dollar General and bought him a little kiddie pool, and he loves it! I only wish it was big enough for me to use sometimes!

My sister is here to work in my gardens with me . . . it's so flipping hot I was getting nauseous and had to come inside! I hate working in the hot sun!

Here on the eastern shore of Maryland it is suppose to be hot hot hot tomorrow, a pool of any size sounds great.

Kate, Thank you for posting the lovely pictures of my family. You have a real gift for capturing everyone's inner spirit! (how come we can't see John's halo?). The pictures are wonderful and you have been such a constant source of cheer for these kids for the past 13 years!

I just heard about wearing white for graduation for the first time about four weeks ago (instead of caps and gowns) and I LOVE that idea. This is only the second time I've seen photos of it. Our caps and gowns are a bright purple and I'd much rather wear an elegant white dress. Beautiful photos!
Love the pictures! And the setting at the school is gorgeous as well. I am yet to see graduates all in white in this neck of the woods. It definately is appealing. Keep up the good work! Your photos always inspire me. As do your words.
