It’s quiet here on the hill, and this morning’s fog made it even more so. I haven’t much felt like writing lately, and I hope you’ll forgive me for that.
Maybe I’m having a bit of writer’s block, and when that has happened in the past, I’ve always resorted to using images to fill my space.
Problem is, you have to take pictures. And I haven’t even had the desire to do that.
Sometimes things just get to me. And after a day of being cheerful, which I admit I sometimes pretend to be, I’m worn out by it all.
But I know I’m lucky to have all that I do.
I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing. ~Agatha Christie
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.~ Robert Frost
Sometimes I think my life would make a great TV movie. It even has the part where they say, "Stand by. We are experiencing temporary difficulties." ~Robert Brault
Maybe I’ll watch Amelie tonight. That movie always cheers me ~
(fortunately, i have plans for the weekend. and they are fun.)
Until tomorrow, my friends . . .
(hell. maybe i should break down and have some cake)

Gorgeous, mysterious photos!
Been there, done that with the whole writer's block, don't want to take pictures, etc. This too shall pass.
I've never Amelie. It looks good; I'll have to check it out.
Chin up and enjoy your movie!
I've been loving this fog lately but unfortunately I haven't taken any pics. Yours are beautiful as always! I hear you about being cheerful all day ... it can be so exhausting!
Although I hope your day got brighter it's nice to share "those" kind of days...we all have them.
I hope you are eating cake and watching Amelie right now. I wish I could be there with you~it sounds like a great way to spend an evening. Hugs!
Cake DID go straight to my boobs! Hope you are feeling cheerier soon.
Beautifully illustrated words.
Let us all eat cake!
Ha! Yes, cake might do the trick. Or chocolate.
Love the foggy photos... soon the sun will come out, that always cheers me up.
But no one can be happy all the time, it comes and it goes....
I definitely thought of you yesterday morning... We had a typical summer-ish WV foggy morning and a cardinal was perched at the apex of a young black walnut tree in our yard. His backdrop was just a foggy mist of trees - so similar to the textures and photos you use!
Oh, Liz ~ he sounds like he was beautiful!

Considering you were not motivated to take pictures (a state I completely understand), these are magnificent. Haunting.
Have fun this weekend...
Wonderful photos ! I have the same bahumug days , sometimes there just isnt anything to write about or I just dont feel like it especially when the weather is gloomy I am a sunshine person need the sun and fortunatly it has been sunny and like summer with the temps and all is greening and growing ! Hope you rise from your slump and have a good day !
Hell yes have cake!! Been thinking about you.
Ok, first of all your images don't need words they speak volumes...beautiful, powerful volumes! Second, it's been far too long since I watched Amelie...love, love, love it! And thirdly, that card is hilarious!
Kat :)
Oh my, what to say.....all of us struggle at times, but with an artist, it is especially vexing.....Years ago, when I was going thru an awful divorce, I read "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron. It helped me tremendously, by allowing the frustration and anger to escape....it can be found "used" at Amazon...well, worth any price I imagine....
P.S.
I LOVE my print.....smiles
Well, let me just say that I love that you know what cheers you when the darkness settles in. Thanks for sharing your real, true self!
Thanks for the book suggestion, Ellen.
I usually respond directly through my e-mail, so when you see me commenting here on the post, it's often because I can't hit reply and have your e-mail address come up.
Thanks, everyone ~
I know what you mean by being worn out after a day of being cheerful... seriously, I totally get it
fog + manor house/land + Kate's photography talent = OMG pictures!
I want your property, picked up in its entirety and placed in a more remote area, and populated by my sheep and horses. And I want to watch Amelie, since you keep mentioning it!
Life and it's complications. Just when you think it's not worth it, those darn birds are singing in the morning and the coffee is good. So, I keep going anyway. Ends up most days are worth it.
Enjoy your weekend !!!
Sometimes the pictures tell the story. Beautiful images. Happy Spring!
Hang on to that Agatha Christie quote Kate.
I can sooooo relate!
(not about the cake) but about everything else!!
So glad you have fun plans for the weekend!
I am having a similar type of week...month...year. Not sure why...I keep saying I need to start a journal to get my feelings down and even that seems like too much effort! Good luck finding your groove...if I find a good solution, I will let you know.
SNORT indeed is there one where the cake goes to your butt? I could use a lot more help there ....
LOVE the fog photos .. I took a couple with the iPhone this morning ..
It's not a block. It's introspective. And foggy mornings will do that (I live near Culpeper and we've been in fog too).
It's ok. You're the only one beating yourself up. Stop it. You've taken beautiful photos, put some beautiful prose in your blog, and added a funny at the end - what a GREAT blog in MY opinion! :-)

Silly Rabbit,
For not writing or taking photos, that was a pretty good post. And such nice comments. I do know what you mean by getting worn out by being "on" and making that effort to be cheerful. It's when you come home and take it all out on those with whom you live that you run into problems. Not that you do that, but I have and I just have to make sure I don''t do it too much.
Anyway, the real reason I'm writing is to send you a quote (I love all your quotes). I hope you recognize it, but even if you don't, the meaning is still there:
"Just keep swimming... just keep swimming..."
(((Kate)))
If cake would go straight to my boobs....I'd eat it everyday.
Instead it makes me look prego!
Cake, straight to our boobs...oh sigh. Well see you got all of us happier, so something good happened.
I think it's a spring funk, it seems to be going around, lasts a little while, and then suddenly it's gone.
Jen @ Muddy Boot Dreams
Well just photos are okay, and not having energy etc. as well. Love your photos.
Sometimes we all get days, when we can't even be bothered to even take photos. What I tend to do is just take a day of and then normally I can't shut up again and photos? There's always the archives :-) Take care of you and have a lovely weekend.
Pass a piece of boob cake, will ya?
i loved your foggy photos, your few words and your honesty....
and since i know what you're doing this weekend....well have the best time EVAH !!!
xoxo
Your pictures speak for themselves, but the prose you chose was perfect for them. Amelie sounds like a movie I would enjoy. You probably don't realize this, but your posts always motivate me to try to capture beautiful things like you always do. Enjoy your fun weekend plans my friend. xoxo ~Lili
Just said a prayer for you - for encouragement and inspiration and a peaceful lifting up of joy.
Awww...sometimes silence is the loudest message.
Thanks for sharing!
Wonderful photos Kate, I hope your weekend rejuvenates you :)
Hang in there my friend. Your motivation will return when you least expect it. Wishing you peace. And hugs.
OMG...that fog! So gorgeous Kate. And damn...I wish cake went to my boobs too!
xoxo
Love the A. Christie quote. I have those days too Kate. Thank goodness for weekend plans to look forward to. Have some fun.
Perky is overrated. Those are beautiful images, as usual. I LOVE that quote by Agatha Christie. Definitely adding it to my collection.
Blessings,
Carolynn
Beautiful images and great quotes. We all feel like this at times...and you might not think you are writing much, but your post spoke to me in a strong way.
Yes you spoke loud and clear. I hope your weekend..gets sweeter, cake and all. ha.
Hey you,
I totally can relate to this. Sometimes I just have nothing more to give after busy days...I have no desire to go out and take another nature shot...or puppy dog shot.....or food shot....and so I either find old photos or borrow photos and do the quotes like you did today...enjoy the quietness and don´t worry, you´ll be back...the good ones always come back ;-) Have a lovely Friday my dear! Oh- check out my blog- something yummy for you to make your black and white.....;-)
Beautiful images and beautiful writing.. simply just made my day!
I've been loving the fog every morning, but have been too sick to go out and take many pictures. I love your photos -- especially the one of your driveway. You know the only thing I love better than a good fog is a good path... ;)
And hell yes, eat cake!
Hope your weekend is wonderful! xoxo
Gorgeous photos Kate.
sigh
Those foggy photos are fabulous!
You know--they say that Sept. and March are the two worst months as far as when "depression" hits. I don't know how true it is, but hey--with depression, any excuse is good, I guess. It's just how to "fix it"--that's what I'm searching for. :) Hope you're having a good weekend, Kate.
So sorry to see that you're in and feeling foggy. I too haven't had much of a desire to write or photograph. Could it me that we are in need of some much needed sun and warmer weather? I know that this would make a huge difference in my outlook. Hang in there this to shall pass and thanks for the delightful photos.
You may have writers block but you managed to find the most perfect quotes. Acting cheerful is exhausting at times but hang in there! Hope your fun weekend is restorative!
Amelie is one of my all time favorites too! Just looking at this promo made me smile and feel good:)
xoxo
Be still and eat cake! ((((Hugs)))
You may not be feeling inspired today, but you have inspired many people today just by being you. Your pictures are gorgeous.
