NYC Redux

I can hear the wind howling outside the thick stone walls of the manor house tonight. My husband was just saying how lucky we are to be on the top of a hill in a clearing rather than down below in the trees and the flood zone nearby. We’ve had a lot of rain today, and the wind is the kind that takes you by surprise with its force. And it’s been unrelenting all day long.

I’m dipping back into my NYC shots from last weekend and found just a few more to share with you before someone shouts ‘uncle’.

Taken along W 78th St. heading toward Columbus Ave. I may or may not have used the side of the steps here to make some of my own texture shots.

Ok, I’ll be honest. I did not take any texture shots. But it would have been a good idea at the time had I thought of it.

Trying to find a parking space is something I’ve found that I quite dislike.

Standing at Columbus Ave. looking North. The Museum of Natural History is located to the right.

I wonder if this is one of the first days that the outdoor tables are set up. I found this table & chairs along Broadway.

Skip forward to the next day and the view from our table at Pure Thai as we waited for the rest of the group who were traveling down from CT.

The food was great. This was Annie’s lunch.

And this beautiful Bird took our photo.

And then finally, heading home in the rain. We’d been stopped in traffic, so I could take this right before I started up again. I liked that I could see the plane coming in for a landing. The airport is right along the Jersey Tpk.

Hope you enjoyed. Have a wonderful weekend, my friends . . .

Hope it's a good one ~

Sheesh, how did you get such a great shot with so few people and no traffic? It's like a hollywood movie set...

I second what Emom said. Love these.

I LOVE city stoops. I don't know why but they are so interesting in a nice line, yet each has it's own architectural design and material. Stoops and NYC fire escapes that cover entire walls. Fascinate me. I love the side streets even more htan the busy ones in the city.

It looks like you know your way around NYC pretty well, Kate. I can't even find my way around Times Square!

So pretty. Your photos remind me of something I read about Woody Allen a long time ago...that he loves NYC so much that he always shoots it with a rosy glow.

If you participate in memes, these would be great Ruby Tues shots.
I saw an apt. on Selling New York and the parking place was $30,000 more to the cost! I guess it would be worth it on a day like today. Rain beating on the windows.
bless you

I could look at your NYC photos constantly as well...

and I suppose it was an advantage when I was there in that staying in a spacious hotel room and taking cabs was not the reality of living there...

Love the extra shots...my old stomping ground.

JBM just loves the turnpike for the chance to see planes landing at Newark Airport.

Wonderful photos. And that lunch was delish! Gonna take me a while not to want to douse Thai food in soy sauce (very limited Asian palate here outside of Chinese take-out and sushi).
What a good day Sunday was! xo

I vote for you to travel around, take gorgeous photos, and put them up on your blog. It's the next best thing to being there.

And anyone who cries "Uncle!", I will sit on.

That's 79th and Columbus, not 78th and those outdoor tables are on Amsterdam not Broadway between 79th and 80th Sts and the shot with the Museum to the right? That looking EAST... seeing how well I know my own neighborhood I am wishing I knew where I was when I got lost after driving you to M's place .. xo

LOVE those stairs, and that last shot with the texture... beautiful! And I would be very happy to see more NYC shots... :)

We got a bit of water in the cellar, but did not lose power, thank God. Oh how I would love to be up on a hill... :)

Hope your weekend is happy!

I loved your NYC photos! Am still wondering how you managed to get so many great shots and so few people on the streets or sidewalks!

Mmmmm I love Thai food. And oh that's nice to be able to just drive there (although not in the rain of course). I can't imagine how much parking is there now though. I always forget how much closer we are from there compared to where we used to live. xo ~Lili

A NY street that is that empty? You must have been up very early! Great shots!

Oh Kate these are all so wonderful....love the street scenes.

That food looked scrumptious, what was it? Looked like chicken and bean sprouts? What was the sauce? Mmmm, just had breakfast but think I might be hungry again! ;-)
Can't get enough of your New York shots so I won't be yelling uncle anytime soon! The outdoor eating looks familiar to places in Oslo..they have the same set up. Love the idea of sitting and watching people walk by while you eat..I love watching people! :-)
Have a super Saturday Kate, hope the weather has settled down!
