Monday morning

I felt a taste of fall this morning, a slight chill to the air that had me pulling up the coverlet on the bed to get warm in the wee hours of the night. Later, when I felt my husband wake up, I fell back to sleep listening to two owls as they spoke to each other back and forth, from one side of the property to the other.

I spent the weekend relaxing, reading, and snapping some images in the backyard. I can feel summer winding down.

I have more photos to share with you later, but for now, here’s my tribute to the start of what I hope will be a good week.

What do you hope for?

Lovely butterfly pic, Kate. Yes, even in the south I can hear and feel summer winding down. I enjoy the changing seasons and already look forward to fall; the smells, colors, cooler temps, fall festivals, and holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving.

We are stuck in the upper 90's here in California.. but only fair as we had a very mild June and most of July.

So glad that you had a relaxing weekend to recharge and get ready for the new school year. Mine go back tomorrow... but today my baby turns 13, so one last day playful bliss!

Have a good week!

I'm hoping to get a lot of riding in this week.

State Horse Show is the 1st week of Sept. and the competition will be fierce.

An amazing capture!

I hope that I can accomplish a lot of decluttering... always happens after a week in a staged rental condo. I feel the need to purge. Of course, if I just sit down with a good book for a few hours, the feeling will pass... lol

Well, you are right, it does feel a bit like fall approaching. I was a bit chilled but that could be coming from 90+ temps in Florida. Recovering and catching up from our week there. Love this butterfly pic that is captured so finely. Looking forward to catching up!

Isn't it glorious, this whole summer winding down thing? We didn't have fall or winter this last year, so I'm REALLY looking forward to this season!

Isn't this weather so refreshing...school is in the air!

Apparently you can capture anything with wings beautifully. :)

Hi Kate,
Finally catching up on back blog reading and loved your trip to Maine!
Yes, there's a hint of fall in the air here too. Being a recent transplant from Louisiana, I found the whole summer to be heavenly.
Can't wait to hear more about the Olmstead biography.... like most gardeners and plant lovers, I know who he is!!

I love this photo...gorgeous color. What do I hope for? Honestly. For our house to sell in Cali...friggen paying a huge mortgage to not live there is killing me.

Our evening temps are hitting down into the 40s...but I don't mind it at all. Such a gorgeous color combination of that butterfly/flower. xo ~Lili
