Morning treat

When I awoke early this morning, the windows in the bedroom were covered in frost. The wind had howled all night long and inside was just a little chilly, especially up in the bedroom. We use blankets to keep warm at night, to cut down on the heating oil.

I ran downstairs to get my camera, smelling the delicious scent of coffee emanating from the kitchen. God, I love that smell.

I'd like to thank you all for your kind comments on Sunday's post (below). I've been busy cleaning all day and then made dinner and am just sitting down for a well-deserved rest.

I like cleaning and polishing (to an extent) and am proud of how nicely the house gleams. Our eldest son comes by train from NYC tomorrow afternoon and I can't wait to see him again. Our youngest son may not make it out by Christmas Eve, but you never know with him. He just may surprise us. And we'll see him on Christmas Day for sure.

A present came via FedEx today. Although we both agreed that we would not exchange gifts this year, SOMEBODY couldn't help himself. And all I had gotten him was a card. Oh, bugger!

Readers are urged to head on over to Kacey's blog, Wine on the Keyboard, to vote in her Photo 2008 Contest. Beginning last March, Kacey has had a contest every month and each month's winning photo has been presented. You can vote for up to 3 of your favorites.

Disclaimer: I am not asking you to vote for mine. It's just a fun thing to do, plus there are a lot of beautiful and fun entries. So go ahead and vote!

Until tomorrow, my friends . . .

Now that is beauty exemplafied. My mom crochets doilies and the frozen, icy windows reminds me of that.
I just wanted to share something with you tonight. My friend, whose husband has been unable to work for many years, applied for disability last August. Today, the Social Security office called them directly to share that he was approved. Finally. There's hope, my friend, for your husband to also become approved. I pray that you receive this news very soon.
As for me and mine...we are still waiting for "Walter" to retire. Once he does, my husband has a darn good job awaiting him.
Merry Christmas to your family. Enjoy your boys.

Gorgeous Gorgeous Gorgeous shots of the frost! I do love the smell of coffee in the morning, too, but have to make it myself. *sigh*

First of all, thank you for the snow on your blog. I added it to mine and love it. Your icey windows are unspeakable. What a great surprise. The smell of coffee in the morning is the best. I too have to make mine but the wait is worth it. Merry Christmas to you and your boys. This will be the first Christmas with out my daughter. I have a sad place in my heart without her.

Those frosty windows are beautiful. I just picked up my son from the airport today. He flew in from Buffalo and boy did we have a mess at the Portland airport. Lots of snow and very slow going. Hopefully it will be a little better when he returns. Enjoy your boys.

Stunningly beautiful photos of the frosty windows, Kate! They are gorgeous! I'm glad your boys will be joining you for a family Christmas. For several years before my daughter and SIL moved to Georgia, it was just the two of us on holidays. It was quite lonely although I wouldn't admit so at the time. Best wishes to you and your family for a safe an enjoyable holiday, sweet Kate. I'm sending warm hugs your way :)

So pretty Kate! We are leaving in a few minutes, but I wanted to come by and wish you a most blessed Christmas - I don't get over here nearly as much as I would like these days, but I didn't want to miss saying hi. And that post right below? Amazing!

That never happens here in the city ... if it did, I am sure I wouldnt get a good shot so its just as well ... I think you should get a nice little photo frame and put a photo of George in it that your husband took and give it to him.. I bet he'd love that

Jack Frost nipping at your windows is certainly preferable to you nose or toes.

Beautiful, frosty shots.

I agree with Daryl.. a framed photo that he took, or that is particularly special to him would make a perfect gift.

The frost, lively it is, little hands holding and holding along a line across your window. I bet your feet were fast while you ran for your camera! And the smell of coffee. Ummm.
