It feels too early to be experiencing the holiday hype and part of me just wishes it were over. But just part of me, mind you.
There are so many wonderful things about the holiday season, and giving to others is one of the biggest for me. I don't have a lot to give (monetarily) this year, however. But one thing I CAN do is to take a minute of my time and send a printed card to a soldier currently serving in Iraq.
And it just feels good to do.
I received an e-mail from a friend today suggesting that I visit a website to send a card to a soldier. I'm suspicious in nature, so I visited Snopes.com to make sure it was legit.
On the Snopes site, I found out that the Xerox Corporation launched the website LetsSayThanks.com in June of 2006, after holding several successful campaigns in many major cities. They decided to open the website due to such a strong positive response to their initial program.
LetsSayThanks.com is a free service that enables the public to send a card to United States military personnel who are serving overseas.

You can attach your own personal message to a postcard that has been designed by a child whose artwork was selected from over 500 entries across the country. The cards are printed in batches at the New York Xerox facility and are distributed, along with packages from Give2TheTroops to all men and women who are deployed on active duty overseas.
Xerox says they will run the program as long as its needed.

If you have a moment, please visit the LetsSayThanks.com site. A kind word from folks back home can go a long way to someone who's serving our country overseas. Let's let them know how much we care.
Until tomorrow, my friends . . .

Lovely Idea, Kate - I'll definitely do this.
Cool, I'm on it.
Sooooo glad you joined the rest of us who have loved and enjoyed participating in Xerox' efforts and it's just so easy to do! Happy Holidays!

What a great way for a company to show their respect and encourage others to do the same. I'm a pacifist at heart but I can appreciate how difficult it is for all of those serving overseas.
Thanks for the reminder. I did this about a year ago and need to participate again!
This sounds like a wonderful idea! Thank you for the info!
Thanks so much for posting this. I had done this some time back and completely forgot about it. I have already went over and chosen my card, wrote my own words and sent it.
I hope my card brightens someone's holiday season.
My daughter showed this to me last week. I love it!
What a wonderful idea! I'll definitely do this, and ask my daughter to participate, too.

God Bless you Kate. My hubby got some cards from kids when he was deployed over Christmas 5 years ago and he still has them.
I'm going to go to that site and let my kids pick some out to send.
Thanks again,
