What a beautiful morning it was here in Maryland. Although it was cold enough outside for a sweater and my Carhart vest, the sun was such a pleasure.
I picked up some pansies to plant in containers.
My sister is recovering nicely and it was good to see her and some of the family.
Shallow depth of field here, which might really bother some people. (Hi, Ray). But I like the little ruffles.
I sat outside in the sun this afternoon, in a spot protected from the wind and read books l received from {her} in the mail. Thank you, my friend. It was such a beautiful surprise.
Progress on the lilac bush is always interesting. These shoots will grow into branches.
All of the trees are budding and soon the dogwood will bloom.
This is what the dogwood buds look like.
There are two white dogwood trees by the house.
I added a texture to this one just because.

Beautiful post Kate!
Always good to come home - I agree! and with George to greet you - you couldn't go wrong :)
I always LOVE all of your photos! No matter the depth of field. I'm actually taking a digital photography class next Saturday, which, in part was inspired by all of your lovely photos:) Have a wonderful evening!
Beautiful pictures. I see our state bird in the last post. And mockingbirds get to be rather annoying. Be glad you didn't recognize it!
isn't it always nice to be in your own bed!! love the pansies!!
I like the ruffles on the little faces, too.
Welcome home! My hubby & I are leaving to tomorrow morning for a week long camping trip. It's so exciting but I know I'll be happy to come home this time next week!
Loved the photos! Spring is such a wonderful time of the year! I enjoy photographing and watching all the new growth.
Pansies are so cheerful with their little faces!
I know George had a swell time with his dad, but know he was surely glad to have his mom home!
Hope you feel refreshed and hope that your sister is feeling better...how could not since she had her sweet sister with her this weekend!
Have wonderfully blessed, restful but exciting week, my friend!
Love the ruffles too.
Glad you had a good trip and are happy at home!
...Don't pansies have the sweetest faces? Such pretty colors you picked out too... :o)
...Glad to hear your sister is doing good and good to hear that you made it home safely. I too love that feeling of coming down the road and seeing our little place sitting there looking all quaint and warm. And crooked. And needy. Gah! *giggle*snort* ;o)
...Sweet photos! Our trees are just starting to bud here and unfortunately we're supposed to get a hard freeze tonite. These are the times I hope the weather people are wrong. *sigh* :o\
...Enjoy your evening!
...Blessings... :o)
this bud's for you....sorry, i couldn't help myself :)
it was so cold here this weekend....the sun was bright and warm, but i enjoyed it from indoors :(
and ah yes, home. it truly is a special place !
I bought some pansies this week when I heard the weather forecast was going to be cold and possibly snowy....there is no way I could frown with those sweet smiley faces looking at me. So glad you are home and you sister is well. Your family has it's share of health problems right now.
Like yours, our dogwood will soon be popping open. We had snow this morning. and bitter cold. that will slow things down a tiny bit.

home to george. ahhh...
It's like Dorothy says, "there's no place like home!" Glad your sister is better, what happened to her?
Beautiful pictures, and I'm a fan of shallow depth of field, but I'm weird anyway! ;-)
Kat :)
What beautiful photos, Kate. I happen to love shallow DOF (sorry, Ray) ;)
I need to see some signs of spring around here.
Glad you had some relax time and news was good.
Like Dorothy, I whole heartedly agree, There's no place like home.
I really love your close up work...I'm slowly getting better at it. But, I have a question. I noticed on the flowers you captured them from the backside in most all of the flowers, is there a reason for that? Not that there is anything wrong with it, Just curious about why.
Kate, I'm glad your sister is doing well. And glad you got to sit out and read and spend time with your camera. I love the shallow ruffles.
I hope you have a better week.
Beautiful shots.
Is that an official Blog Fest Tervis Tumbler? I'm sipping coffee from mine as we speak...
I was waiting for a black and white one....glad everything is ok♥♥♥
Glad you had good news and everything is going well.
Love your photos and post today ! Hope you have a wonderful day.
I wish we had dogwoods in Vermont... they are so beautiful! I know you'll be taking many photos of them when they are in bloom :)

It's always so calming to come here to your site. It reminds me to take a breath and enjoy the little things in life. Thank you:)
That's a nice looking text texture on that last shot!

He is so boring with his 'why cant everything be in focus', in his defense may I say he is a video editor and therefore 'needs' everything in focus... I love those pansies .. and the branches AND that you know which ones are which
loved all of this, kate
me too...no place better than HOME
:-)

A lovely day indeed. Spring is all around us, even if the temps are still nose-diving some days! I just got back from a trip to Ohio last week to visit family... have to agree with you, it is always divine to return home. I love this place we call home. :-)
Good that your sister is doing okay.
Luv the shots.
So glad you're home safe and sound. You were missed.

Ahhh, home & your own bed!! Hope nothing serious with sister.
Sunshine :)
welcome back, Kate. Glad you are glad to be there. I am hoping you are on school vacation this week, so you can really get a break. I love your photos and I just know you 'lost' yourself when you were making them. xo
Kate I love your textured image. Stunning as well as the pansys.
How exciting that you can wear just a vest outside.
Were warming slow , still have lots of snow with more on the way. I did however hear a goose today which did infact make my heart sing. My husband had to come out to listen.
Beautiful photography.
Great photos, yay! pansies! They don't have them out at our garden centers quite yet, but right around this time of year, I start stalking my favorite place and the day they arrive I am there!
Love the dogwood buds.
Been so busy being with Mama since her fall last Saturday, I just didn't feel like commenting on your last one. I'm so sorry your C.C. was compromised--it's not fair. Thankful you got it straightened out, and that you were also able to get away a bit. This past week has been a roller coaster ride of emotions for me, and I feel it may be this way for a little while, but maybe not as long as I'd like....
Beautiful shots Kate! I love the texture on that last photo...just stunning!
:-) See you the 10th! xo
We're on the road right now and yours in one place I wanted to be sure to check into while I have a connection. I probably missed a post or two so I'll have to see what's up with your sister, but glad she's doing well. The cold weather followed us to Ohio, nice to see it's warmer where you are. NC up next for us. Beautiful images as always, love the French script background. xo ~Lili
