Brew me a cup for a winter’s night

DSC_0443 copy 2

Brew me a cup for a winter's night. For the wind howls loud and the furies fight; Spice it with love and stir it with care, And I'll toast our bright eyes, my sweetheart fair. ~Minna Thomas Antrim

I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape - the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn't show. ~Andrew Wyeth

Winter is nature's way of saying, "Up yours."

~Robert Byrne

The forecast calls for snow tonight and all day tomorrow, coupled with high winds. Our neighbors to the north are in for more of it than we are. And I think many people are feeling the same way as Mr. Byrne does!

Until tomorrow, my friends . . .

It's been snowing here all day - beautiful, fluffy, huge flakes. Tree branches are beautiful and evergreens are bending under the weight...spring cannot be far away!

I hear you're getting 18 feet! Well, so I exaggerate...but not by much!

Stay warm, my friend!

I feel for you all in the east.....we've gotten hit hard with rain this year in California, but don't have to deal with mounds of snow...thankfully! Hope spring emerges soon for you.

As you probably already know, it's humid and cloudy here. Been trying to rain all day. Perfect weather for cutting up a beast (we had a visit from a very nice butcher!).

I don't envy you your blizzards - although it would have saved on coldroom costs for our chore today!

We missed it this time in Richmond, VA. Thank goodness! I woke up this morning and creeped to the window and sighed a long deep happy sigh. I love Winter and more so Fall- but after this one Spring can't get here fast enough!

Thank you again for what you did and sending all these lovely, wonderful ladies over to my blog. I am so enjoying visiting their places and "meeting" new friends.

Have an awesome day!

Kim

I was just thinking, right now I'm with Robert Byrne. Ha!

We had rain all day yesterday and today we're supposed to get another 3"-6"! My husband is freaking about water coming in the house even though he just installed a drainage system around the whole perimeter a few years ago.

In northern NH they're getting hit with big time snow. What a weird winter this is.

Yeah, we are finally supposed to cash in on some of the snow storms that have been hitting the east coast. They are saying 4-8 inches here, but I'm not going to lie... I am secretly (or not-so secretly) hoping to get pounded with the beautiful white stuff! :)

we got nothing but rain... boooo I wanted some more snow.

May you stay safe and warm and with the power on!
I send you some spring air, hopefully enough the melt the snow at impact,
hugs,

I can appreciate Mr. Wyeth's expression. I am a landscape person, it's a metaphor for me for so many things. It isn't that I like the "dead" time, but that things hidden in the summer are revealed, and the full beauty of the land can be appreciated.

Stay warm. We are cold and windy in TN as well, with flurries most of yesterday (no accumulation). The inconvenience of snow is indeed a pain, but I never tire of its beauty.

It's still colder than normal here in the south, but the sun is shining!!

I heard there was more snow in store for some of the States. I'm so sorry.

We had a dusting of snow on Tuesday night. The last time MS got 2 snows in February? NEVER, according to our news people. 3 in one winter...NEVER.

The weather forecasters messed up. We were supposed to get up to three inches. Nada. A few sprinkles and now it's sunny outside.

I'm with AM up there, I wanted more snow.

Love the bird!

The Farmers Almanac is calling for a horrific storm; looks like nature is accommodating the almanac. We're in blizzard conditions, expected to continue through the weekend.
Love the quotes.

As one of your neighbors up north, I have to say the Byrne's quote hit home! :) I want to see my garden so much it hurts!
