Preparing for snow storm #2

We are officially not snowbound today, and late this morning I ventured down the driveway and into the world. I guess it was good to be out and about again, but seriously I couldn’t wait to get back home. Call me crazy but I couldn’t wait to give my dog the new toy I’d bought for him.

Coming back up the driveway was a tad bit dicey, but I put the Element in low and just kept going. I’d driven to the post office and then the local WalMart where I picked up a few supplies including a new bird feeder, some more seed and suet for the birds, a movie for myself, and just because I love him so much, I bought George a toy.

This flying squirrel actually made me laugh out loud in the pet aisle. And at only five bucks, it was quite the steal. But that’s not the best part.

The best part is that it’s a sling shot. A flying slingshot superhero squeaking squirrel! Say that five times really fast.

Folks, it doesn’t get any better than this!

Um, yeah. Maybe I’ve been stuck inside for just a bit too long . . .

Seriously, though. Doesn’t it look like the squirrel is yelling, “Nooooooooo!” in this picture?

Ok. I have been stuck inside for too long. But you’ve gotta make your own fun. And doing a puzzle just wasn’t cutting it, y’know?

In other news, snow storm number two is scheduled to begin around sunset tonight with lots of accumulation predicted. I think we’re ready.

Tonight Ellen Degeneres joins the cast of (what my husband calls) the Singing Survivor Show. I think it will be interesting. And her show today was pretty dern good, too.

DSC_0675 copy 2 Tonight I’m also making one of my husband’s favorite desserts. It’s Dlyn’s Apple Cheese Crisp.

Hope your night is a good one, my friends.

That has to be the cutest dog toy ever! Our cat has her own little stuffed bear, which my daughter just loves. :)

Best of luck with the snow. Stay safe and warm!

I'm just one of those people who don't care for apples AND cheese, so I think I'll try your recipe minus the cheese, cause it does look good!

Love the Flying Squirrel! That's great. What a lucky guy George is. And, hubby too, if those are the kinds of desserts he gets. Yum! Enjoy your movie and SSS (Singing Survivor Show).

I think Ellen is just hilarious!!
That is a cute toy. I did play hookie (sp?) today....we got @ 3-4 inches last night & my boss is out of town. Worked on a quilted table runner (with snowmen on it of course).

George's new toy is to funny and you're such a good mommy!

I would love to be snow bounded for a week. Looking out the window would be so peaceful, beautiful. But would have to make sure the pantry was packed and Internet was going strong.

Be safe and stay warm!

I think that the squirrel is from the "Mr. Bill" Collection of dog toys.

"Oh no George, not the canines. Noooooo"

I'm so sorry that you are experiencing storm #2. How sad is that the storms now have numbers after them? Sorry, I am giggling and you can kick my butt if you like!!!
I don't have much to blog about lately. I am pathetic.
Stay warm and dry, my friend.
Have you made chili yet? Brownies? Baked bread?

What a cool toy! We don't do many toys with The Herd - they simply don't last more than a few minutes.

My dogs love those long plush dachshunds you see just about everywhere, we go through atleast three a month, and I LOVE buying dog toys for my dogs.

This time we're getting the storm too, expecting 20 inches by tomorrow afternoon and high winds, hoping we don't lose power.

I am planning to try that apple crisp, it sounds delicious :-)

It's snowing pretty good out there, very quiet. The winds are expected tomorrow along with much more snow. It's pretty now, though.

And George is sleeping with his toy. He really does love it!

That flying squirrel? I want one. Not for the dog. For me. That thing looks like so much fun, and no, I do NOT get out much.

Oh my goodness, I so need a 'flying squirrel' for Jimmy. That is SO cute!!!! Lucky George!

Sounds like you're prepared for continuation of the snow series! I saw that the governor asked people to stay in. I hope you don't lose your power.

I would love to get the squirrel toy for Maggie, our 18 month old Brittany Spaniel but she would destroy it in the blink of an eye. (Only one of the reasons she doesn't come inside except for those coldest nights).

Stay warm!

UPDATE: Isla's got herself a squirrel!!!! No wabbits at our store, only ducks as our other option but she seems to know just what to do with said squirrel.
