I’ve walked for miles, my feet are hurtin’

In mid-January, a friend of mine asked if I’d do a favor for her and take some publicity photos for for the local newspaper. No big deal, she said. Someone had won a room make-over contest and my friend, the interior designer, needed a photographer to take some pictures of her and the winner choosing fabric, shopping for a couple of things, etc. Without even thinking of it, I said sure, no problem, but I'm really not a photographer. Then she told me to shut up.

It ended up being a lot more involved than that (of course!) and we went to ten different places to take photos, stopping for lunch and continuing on in the afternoon. Finally, we wound up back at my friend’s office, which is attached to one of the two shops she owns with her sister. They sell jewelry from Brighton, Pandora and Troll among other kinds, and handbags from Brighton and beyond, and lots of beautiful accessories. Her decorating office is in the back of one of the shops.

I snapped these photos at her shop because I like handbags and I thought these new ones from Big Buddha were cool.

My feet were killing me at the time. I had no idea it was to have taken all day, not that I minded but man were my feet hurtin’. All I could think of on the drive home was putting my feet in my softest socks and then slipping them into my sheep slippers . . .

And dreaming about this gorgeous handbag I fell in love with at my friend’s shop. I loved the color. And the fabric is a buttery-soft, suede-like material.

Just some fun eye candy, these little Spartina bags.

I have the one on the left in a different color. It’s a little make-up bag I use when I travel. I’m such a traveler, you know.

This is my friend Kathy, the decorator. Long-time readers may remember her as the birthday girl from this party bus post. We’ve known each other since the day I moved to the area, which was back in December 1996. I remember going to town to get a couple of last-minute Christmas gifts (we moved three days before Christmas) and stumbling upon her little decorating shop.

As it turned out for this photo shoot, I was to take pictures of Ingrid (the winner) visiting all of the advertisers places of business and perusing their wares, meeting the owners, and looking like she was shopping for anything from material from the fabric shop to bead board at the local hardware store. One of the advertisers was WalMart, where she went on a shopping spree for bedding and the finishing touches like lamps and photo frames. I was surprised at all the beautiful things we were able to score there.

But best of all, I got a super slingshot flying chicken for my favorite dog. More on that tomorrow.

I will tell you though, that every time I come home now, he runs to the car, waiting for me to open the passenger side door so he can see if I brought home a treat or toy for him. Man, I love this dog.

Until tomorrow, my friends . . .

My pup jumps and jumps and jumps and jumps (and cries) from the second he sees me to me putting my purse and bags down. It has become a ritual!

Great store! (and awesome photos!)

Oooo love those handbags, especially the blue one! I actually bought a turquoise leather bag last month -- the color just drew me in... :)

Cute bags. Not that I'm a girly girl. Heck, I don't even carry one if I can avoid it.

I hope you got a good foot rub for all your walking time! Our big dog Cougar gets so excited when we come home, he gathers up anything that looks like a toy and the minute we open the car door he's right in our lap..begging for us to trow it for him! Gotta love em! Come say hi :D
PS.. I loved that same purse that you did..very pretty!

I looove all those purses, but the blue one...man, it's awesome! Years ago I bought a purse in that soft suede-camel color. It was a huge soft bag with a sling that made the purse come down to my bum!
I bought it a small shop in NYC and paid a bundle. But, I have still have that bag! Whenever I use it, women always want to know where I purchased it!
So, go buy your fave bag. In 20 years you will be blogging about the best investment you ever made!

I am having a giveaway. Come by :)

Great photos, and it sounds like a fun, if not a little bit tiring, day! And I can't wait to see George's new toy!

Kat :)

P.S. I would tell you to shut up if you said you weren't a photographer too, fair warning! ;-)

Love those handbags. Handbags and shoes have always been a weakness of mine and I am not a serial shopper by any stretch of the imagination.

About the feet. You'll know for next time - I'm sure there'll be more photo shoots...

And now for the killer comment. The one that gets me barred from your blog.

Really Kate, not ANOTHER toy for George....

Every good dog deserves a slingshot chicken. HA HA... Why... perhaps even I would like a slingshot chicken.

Would die for that gorgeous handbag by the way. What was the price tag, or did you look?

Actually I just heard about the Spartina brand of handbags today in a local Roanoke magazine I received in the mail very cute and I may even go check them out in downtown Roanoke.

I also have a dog who get excited when I come home, I've been told that Sheeta sits at the window every day at 3:30pm waiting for me to come home. Also when I leave she whines and cries.

The purses are also great, the blue purse is a definite.

Now I just want to throw away all my boring brown and black pocketbooks and drive to your neck of the woods to visit this store.

As I've said before, you have an innate ability to make the reader/viewer want to have whatever it is that's being pictured.

Those bags are gorgeous. Now, let's take a look at some nice slippers that I'll end up wanting to buy too.

Blessings on your poor, tired feet. May they find rejuvenation in the presence of The Wonderful Dog. Sounds like quite the day. Full of color!

See that bag on the right? The one with the big white flowers? I take that one, please. Wouldn't that be a perfect summer bag?

Great photos -- as usual. :-)

I never use bags, when you've got seven dogs in your house- you're not really a bag type lady...when I run out of the house I grab my wallet and I'm set....
BUT...with that said- I LOVE those bags- especially the blue one- oh it looks yummy and I'll BET it's sooooo soft! I can see that in the photo..I do have some bags, but they mostly stay in my closet...and I haven't seen such wonderful bags as those in shops here in Norway-
Hope you got some rest today...

I would be kissing up to my friend for that blue bag, it is beautiful.

What color, what brightness, we all need a few spots of that.

Sounds like you enjoyed it, even though your feet are saying, pamper me in softness.

My heart stopped when I saw that beautiful blue bag! It's dangerous; I know because I fell in love with a similar one last year (and bought it for myself for Mother's Day -- at least, that's what I told people!)

Beautiful purses. LOL...my friends laugh at me cause I don't carry one. I have a tiny zipper pouch that fits in my pocket.
