Jiggety jig

I have the day off due to the President’s Day holiday. This morning for breakfast, I enjoyed my english muffin with the orange marmalade I bought in the city this weekend as a Valentine treat for my husband. It’s delicious!

I also brought home some wonderful coffee from Zabar’s which I sipped in the sunshine on our front porch this morning after taking a big walk with my favorite dog around the property.

Thanks for all of your heartfelt comments yesterday (and every day). It’s such a pleasure opening my mail and seeing your kind words.

I’ve met so many wonderful people through this crazy thing called blogging.

Here’s a rather mixed-up assortment of photos from my weekend get-away.

This is Lauren’s dog, Dora, who greeted us at the kitchen door dressed in her Valentine’s Day finery when we arrived in CT. What a sweet dog she is.

Cupid the talking bird. What a pretty bird with beautiful colors.

The Dakota at Central Park West and 72nd. I want to go back and take more photos from further away of this wonderful building.

There was a lot of this.

And a little of this, too.

We visited Ricky’s on W 72nd (between Columbus and Amsterdam). It’s a really fun store that carries health & beauty supplies and all sorts of fun stuff like this. I just find this kind of thing really amusing. I’m sorry.

I’ll end with this lonesome dove (groan) in Lauren’s backyard in CT.

See you tomorrow, my friends.

Wow, I would not be able to walk straight, my eyes would be going every where. Too much to see. The cheese store alone boggles my mind.

I love the joke gifts. Never apologize for things that make you laugh.

It looks like you had a wonderful time and that it gave you chance to recharge your batteries a little!

Seeing that Tiptree marmalade takes me back to England! I had Wilkin & Sons jams the whole week we were there and fell in love with them. So much so that a few months after we got home Mr. Tide bought me some online! YUM!

English muffins and marmalade - I can relate to that Kate! As for that wonderful cheese counter - wow, wish I had been in that store when we were in New York last summer.

I agree, I've never seen more different kinds of cheese before in my life. We have Cracker Barrel and Velveeta, perhaps some Kraft Parmesan. The End.

Great pictures - thanks for sharing them.

wv=moning. I'm still moning about missing the trip, but it was nice not to have to go to work this moning.

Just got back from vacation too and I completly agree that one of the best parts of going away is the coming back....Oh and I love marmalade with English Muffins but every time I go to NYC I have to have bagels with lox and cream cheese...that is something that is hard to find here...

Loved all your winter snow pics btw:) You certainly got more snow than we did up north...

They should have a larger variety of fart pills.. like 'silent' fart pills, 'who farted in the elevator' fart pills, 'sneaky' fart pills... Well, anyway that's how I'd market them.. LOL

Welcome back Kate! I hope you had a wonderful trip to NYC. I sure wish it wasn't so far away or I'd go more often.

Zabars looks like a fabulous place! Now THATS a lot of cheese! And THATS a lot of snow for NYC! He hee . . . .

Glad you are home safe and sound : )

The pictures are great: the dog, the parrot, especially the cheese shop! A country girl from Texas who lives in Arizona has trouble relating to a cheese shop like that! They probably have cheeses there that I've never even heard of!

I can hardly contain myself, I so want to guess the next title of your blog, I say that saying all the time, my step-children and grandchildren then look at me like I've gone crazy. I'm also in agreement about Zabar's "Wow".

Wait a second...didn't you just get a whole stream of days off...? Get the guest room ready, I'm moving in there.

Looks like you had a great trip. Excellent photos and you've gotta get a yellow cab shot if you're in NYC, am I right?
