What’s at your core? A photography contest from Intel

I received an e-mail today from someone from Intel who wanted to give me a heads up on a photo contest that’s being launched this week to promote their new Core Family Processors (the Core i3, i5 and i7).

The contest, “Access Your Core”, allows you to submit your work in one of three categories: Photo, Slide Show or Short Video. The work should depict what is at your “core”, what makes you who you are and what you are passionate about.

Anyway, should be interesting. Especially since the winner in each category receives a new Intel computer with Core processor and a cash prize. So if you’re into photography, why not give it a go?

I may submit the photo above on behalf of my husband. He took it just this afternoon and I don’t know about you but I think it’s pretty good. I love how the white-throated sparrow is in focus and the motion of his wing. My husband has always been passionate about birds and he has been getting into photography lately, so I think this would be a good photo to enter for the theme ‘access your core’.

A male cardinal warms himself in the sun. It went up to 40 something today.

Do you remember that tv show called 30 Something? I watched every single episode of that show. Those people looked so grown up to me at the time and but watching the opening credits just now, well they all look so young . . .

A male slate-colored juncoe looking very sprightly here. My husband took all of the photos in this post using our Nikon D80 and our Quantaray 70-300mm lens. For $100, that lens was one of the better purchases we ever made. It isn’t the greatest but it’s been pretty darn good to us.

Hope your day is a good one. Until tomorrow, then?

I like all three photos, but the colors of the cardinal against the icy, snowy background is especially pretty.

Oh, they look so young! Have you ever seen the movie "Shirley Valentine"? The same thing. When I first saw it, I thought how much older she looked, then a couple of years ago I watched it again and I thought, goodness gracious, she looks so young! Ugh.

Good luck with the contest! I'll have to think about that!

Absolutely gorgeous.....kudos to your husband.
I have yet to figure out why some weeks there are tons of birds at the feeders, and then other weeks, nothing.
Was it something I said??

The cardinal is by far my favorite - the colors are spectacular! And he "speaks" to me.

the cardinal is beautiful - the others are good, but the cardinal is one of those iconic type shots

Yes, 30 Something was a must see in my house at the time. That feels like sixty years ago. An entirely different life.

Those photos are fabulous, but I have to agree with you - the one your husband took is great - the wing blends so well with the arched design on the bird feeder.

Speaking of temperatures, it's going to be a balmy 50 degrees on Sunday so they say. Not sure who "they" are, but that's what they're saying.

I love that little red cardinal. I looked at that contest thing-y and if you send in that first picture it is a shoe-in none of the other pictures come close. Of course that is just my opinion(LOL)

i don't think intel is interested in the back story but 'what's at your core?' is pretty emotional to me. husband has found a new way to look at his life through photos. and he's good at it! anywho, all the pix are lovely.

The bird in flight is a winner! Wow, I hadn't seen that into in many years to 30 Something. When it was a hit, I was 30 something, now my children are moving into that place with new babies, relationships, and trying to find that special one. I guess I'm the one looking old now. Life goes on...

It was pretty damn good to me too .. I am posting the photo of the mourning dove on Monday and I think I have a cardinal set for WW .. maybe, my brain is leaking facts so I am not sure when I set his eminence to post ..

I think all of A's pix are winners!
