Optical illusion

It’s a rainy Sunday morning as I write this and I have just finished reading all of your wonderful answers from my Friday Q&A. I respond to all of these, you know (if you have your e-mail address attached). If you don’t, here’s how to do it.

A co-worker came to my desk on Friday and showed me this cool lens he’d bought. Actually, he’s bought a lot of cool things ever since he saw the school bulletin board one day and asked who took the photos. Then he asked me what kind of camera I had. Well that was a couple years ago and now he’s got a Nikon D90 and is always buying something fun for it.

He practically forced me to take his newest acquisition home this weekend to play with. It’s this cool Fisheye lens converter from Opteka.

It’s a super wide angle fisheye and I think it’s kinda fun. I screwed it over my 18-55 lens and took this photo of the beginning of the trail at our place. You can hardly see it, but that’s the barn behind the second tree on the left.

My husband’s garden is looking really groovy.

I’m having fun, can you tell?

And guess what? The snap peas are coming in.

On the outer loop trail (my husband named the trail he made) looking toward the house. The outer loop trail hangs a left there at the garden gate.

Oh, here comes George to greet me.

“I shall pose for you, mother. Is there anything else I can do for you? Perhaps rid the yard of some pesky squirrels?”

“This is my best side, by the way.”

This dog is so polite.

Today I’m making a broccoli salad to take on a birthday BBQ I’ve been invited to this afternoon. And tonight at 7 PM, I will be glued to my television for several hours.

I can’t tell you how much I’m going to miss this show.

Please pass the tissues . . .

Awww, so sorry your show is going away. I was not one of the people who watched the show so there will be no tears for me I guess.

The fish eye lens looks like a fun one to own. I'm still waiting to get a great macro lens for my Rebel.

Let me know any tricks you learn on Wordpress if you decide to switch.

Love the lens, but George looks good in any picture.

P.S. - Never saw Lost - ever. We just are not really TV people.

Terry O'Quinn said it perfectly .. I will miss these people so much.. but like a good book you finish (thanks to ToonMan buying me each seasons DVDs) you can wait bit and then begin re-reading .. I do it every few years on July 4th I begin re-reading The Stand ... and I expect in a year or so on Sept 22 I will begin to re-watch the series

Love those photos even tho I have never been a fan of fish eye filters .. I had one for my old SLR

That's a pretty cool lens. And one funky garden to boot! Psychedelic George. lol!

We watched Lost for the first couple years. Then they switched the time to 10:00 pm and we just couldn't stay up that late. At that point I lost track of what was going on. That said, I'd kind of like to watch the finale'!

Can we have a fish eye photo of your tears....which, by the way, I will be joining you in. All I hope is that we have a logical, acceptible, conclusion to this tale of wonder.
the lens is great...I wonder how long it will be before you have one of your own!!! I have always liked the fish eye view...
Have a good day Kate and enjoy your picnic....hope the rain stays away

I have a cheaper version of a fisheye - mine doesn't do such a god job. Have you heard of Lensbaby? SO cool!

I am looking forward to Lost tonight too. I will miss it, but at least the show had an actual trajectory, one that they planned, if not from the very beginning, then at least for the last few years. So many shows either disppear altogether or have a cramped ending, because it got canceled, but they at least attempt to tie up loose ends.

Now what are we going to watch? Survivor, Dancing Survivor, Singing Survivor and Around the World Survivor are all over with!

Very cool illusion!!! I want some fun stuff for my camera but there is always other things on the wish list that come first if there is extra money!!
Sorry I missed your questions and answers on Friday, my honey came home from Brazil so I've not been in blogland since then ;-)) Just got back though, so I'll try and keep an eye open for your next question and answer post!! Have a super day Kate!

Oh, Lost...I'll be sad to see it end as well. I was absolutely hooked from the first episode. Enjoy the BBQ. Hope you have nice weather. We're about to get blown into the next time zone. Ugh...wind!

Heh CG, you had FUN with that lens, I can tell - nice of your co-worker to *lend* it to you :>P And George looks just as handsome with a fish-eye as any other lens, if you ask me...but of course, I'm pretty biased on that subject!

Today I'm making a big fresh green salad (fix'ins from my garden) to take to a birthday bbq this afternoon - funny that, having these bi-coastal barbies going on. Hope you (and me) have a great time!!

I'm waiting until Lost comes out on DVD and then I'll watch the whole thing at one time! :)

I'll have to be careful to avoid the spoilers!

That lens looks like a LOT of fun! Enjoy your finale. Tomorrow I'll be watching the 24 finale. :)

what a cool lense...nice photos...I wish everyone would change their setting so you could send them a little comment right back instead of trying to find their e-mail or answering in your comments and not knowing if they ever read it or not...

WEll I have no idea about Lost, but as someone who has discovered she has a vampire fetish (or mid-life-crisis as my husband calls it), I am not one to point fingers at other addictees!

As for that lense... d'ya think that's how vampires see the world?

The fish eye lense photos look exactly like I look in photos when someone takes a picture of me. All round and blurry.......

That George, he looks good from any angle....love the first shot, very cool!
By the way, I jumped right into Wordpress from the beginning for my blogs...my son had to help me a bit, but I really love it!

What a great post - you were obviously having fun, which made me have fun reading about it.

I'm just in love with George. I also love broccoli salad - any leftovers? I'll be over ;-)

I confess. I have never seen a single episode of Lost. Probably good as I hear it is very addictive.

Those first few photos you posted reminded me of some crazy weekends I had when I was in college! Heh!

Take care.

Broccoli Salad? YUM!

I watched the first two seasons of Lost, but couldn't get the family into it...I "lost"! Now, 24 is a different story...they watch with me. I will have the Kleenex handy tonight when I have to bid Jack Bauer farewell:(

Deb said...

No more LOST, Law & Order, 24? I'm not sure what I will do with my free time. Probably watch the 65 Law & Order Criminal Intent on my DVR!

My friend has a fish eye lens for her real estate business. Great for taking photos of prospective houses.

Oh it looks like you are having LOTs of fun:)...

I've been a faithful Lost watcher too but I have to say I think it is the right time for them to wrap it up...some things are just better in smaller amounts...
