Pink statice and old lace

A storm blew through tonight, bringing blessed cooler air with it. The past several days here in Maryland have been sticky and uncomfortable but this evening feels absolutely delicious.

The skies are pink as I write this and my husband is outside with the camera. Earlier this evening I was fooling around in Aperture mode and shot this photograph inside the dining room at the back window, using a small aperture because the light was low.

It was getting dark and I didn’t have enough light to begin with, so I messed around with it in Photoshop to get it where I wanted it. Roll over with your mouse to see the original photo.

I like the end result.

Here’s the formula I used to get it, if you’re interested in that sort of thing:

Lighten Brighten from Florabella’s Vintage Set, opacity lowered.

Vintage Haze from the same set, opacity around 80%

Les brumes texture, soft light around 80%

Shadowhouse Creations Grunge border brushes, different opacities

And here’s how to do the mouseover trick.

Just a simple question for Friday and because inquiring minds want to know . . .

What are your plans for the Memorial Day weekend?

Until tomorrow, then . . .

I may go to Jersey to see my in-laws and maybe my son. No other plans yet. I live an exciting life, don't I?

That picture looks so delicate.
This weekend is our Ski to Sea festival and on sun there are booths and music. The Scooner Zodic that I have been volunteering and sailing on is going to have a booth and tours of the ship I think I will help out there. It should be fun. I hope to take lots of pictures.

That mouse rollover trick is great - I might try it sometime when I get my own computer and a connect to the internet.

Hell may well freeze over first.

You all have a great Memorial Day weekend.

Such a pretty photo - the end result is perfect.

This weekend is a "whatever Hubby wants to do" weekend. Anything or nothing at all. Work has demanded he be away a week at a time and home time is precious to all of us. I do see a dinner for two somewhere between Friday and Monday :)

Have a great weekend!

I LOVE the end result!

No big plans here; my veterinarian husband is on emergency duty so we must stay close to home. Fine by me! I have a ewe due to lamb any day; I look forward to welcoming little lambies to the world!

lovely job on the photo...I still have to try that roll over thing. Maybe tonight.

My plans for the weekend?

Working again. But it's inch and a half with a day off later *shrug*.

We're a 24/7 operation and I knew it going in so I'm not unhappy.

We have the cool air tonight, too, after surviving sweltering heat all day. However, we did not have a storm (yet?). The MOON was ENORMOUS and gorgeous.

Lighten Brighten makes me think of Light Bright, where you stuck the colored glass pegs into the holes and made a design, then flipped the switch and voila, you had yourself a, well, I don't know what you'd call it. A work of light bright art?

Heading to the Eastern Shore with my two kids to camp. Enjoy your long weekend and take lots of pictures to share.

Nothing planned. My youngest son will get home from the beach late Saturday, so I think he will want to rest on Sunday. Hope you have a lovely weekend!

That photo makes me feel very happy & girlie & summery. It's lovely.

My first plan this weekend is to go see the movie Prince of Persia. My next plan is to walk on my treadmill for the rest of the weekend to try and burn off all the buttered popcorn I consumed!

I hope you have a great weekend, no matter what you decide to do! Love the picture...beautiful!

I'm preparing for the "out"laws and our daughter to come for my son's high school graduation! At least my house is fairly clean, we just need to finish up planting some flowers and we'll be set!

Oh such lovely flowers! Such a gorgeous photo! Can't wait to see what your husband has taken while you were writing this blog post!

Memorial day weekend is an American holiday so no special plans- considering a trip to Sweden so we can buy food and such to Julia's confirmation next weekend. 18 people are coming, it's kinda funny the Norwegians make such a big deal out of confirmation (in the church) because they are NOT what I'd call a religious nation..but ok...Julia gets a great party and we celebrate her- so why not!?
Hope you have a great weekend Kate.

It's pouring rain here on the 27th of May. My son's birthday. In 25 years I don't remember a day like this. The skies have opened. Pouring rain and snow not to far away and I live in California! Nothing to exciting planned. Lots of tourists, so we often lay low. I love your window picture, it's very romantic.

WEll, clearly we don't have Memorial Day Down Under, but this weekend will be busy nonetheless.

Mr Incredible will be campdrafting (and kids possibly doing little races at the event). And we will be continuing the weaning... busy. Tiring. But good.

Loving the work on the flower photo - glorious!

It is very pretty Kate! Love it, clever you!

We don't have Memorial Day here , so no long weekend here. But maybe next weekend, or the one after, not sure which, we do have a long weekend. It will be the Queen's birthday long weekend!!

This weekend, I don't plan to do much either. Being very lazy! After I went to a movie last weekend. Still getting over it. The outing, that is. The movie was quite good. The Concert.

We're having a "7"s birthday b-b-q for my mother who is 70, my uncle is 67, and my nephew is 7. The cake will have a big fat 7 on it.

I downloaded the brush borders, however I can't figure out how to use it. Any chance you'll post a tutorial? Sorry to be a pain in the behind.

We only have 1 chore that I told my husband we had to do. We have a tree that develops a million seed pods. Very invasive and no good qualities about it.

Told him it had to go, it's in my deer hunting food plot and I'll have to kill my clover to get rid of all the trees that sprouted.

Other plans include fish a little, ride the horses a little and eat a lot.

Hope ya'll have a great weekend and a wonderful holiday!

I really like the finished product too. I seem to have so little time to mess with photos these days...straight out of the camera with a minimum of tweaking is what I get.

And that's why I love Photoshop! you can take a bland, so-so photo and make it into something beautiful!

Btw, I really some lace curtains in my house again. It's been years. I'm a true cottage-shabby-chic girl at heart.

Checking out that mouseover info next!

The week-end plan is for Hubby to replace drywall in the laundry room which was torn up when wiring was done for our new internet service last year. He's working in it right now. I am his assistant each time he calls my name.
