What would you do for a Klondike Bar?

I wasn’t myself today. I felt overwhelmed at work because I was trying to get a large project finished at my desk, which is in the school office in the center of everything. I’m putting together our school directory and it’s full of advertising and is extremely time-consuming. I even snapped at two of our parents.

I didn’t mean to and I hate when I do that. (But better them than the children!)

It wasn’t until I drove up the driveway and arrived home that I began to really feel better. An e-mail from a friend made me really smile. Hi, Alisa! (She noticed I wasn’t myself today).

And tea always helps. I sat outside and chatted with my husband for a bit and then came in to get the camera. And as I walked through the dining room, I remembered that I’d wanted to show you the jar I acquired over the weekend.

I bought it in the gift shop at one of the garden centers nearby. I fell in love with the colors when I first saw it over a month ago. It’s very autumnal.

And all the embellishments are very interesting, as well. I love that old-fashioned writing. And that date. This house had already been standing for a hundred years in 1869. Well, half of it had, anyway.

The new addition was put on in 1810. To find out more about the house (it isn’t much, really), visit the tab on my sidebar, entitled “About the House”.

I do have some questions for you today. I hope you’ll play along.

4. How many times do you hit the snooze button in the morning?

5. What was the last thing you put a postage stamp on?

See you in the comments, my friends . . .

PS ~ I’m all out of Klondike Bars. Sorry.

1. What is your absolute best asset? It would have to be my disposition. Usually it's cheerful.

2. What is the best thing that has happened to you in the past week? I think it's when my husband hugged me on Sunday and told me it was all going to be ok.

3. What do you usually use to mark a place in a book you’re reading? Anything that's lying around and looks like it would work. Right now it's a big feather.

4. How many times do you hit the snooze button in the morning? Once. Sometimes twice. Never thrice. (I really want to rhyme here).

5. What was the last thing you put a postage stamp on? A card I sent to my youngest son. Some day he's going to answer me. Until then, I just keep trying.

1. Best asset - depends on the definition of asset. Is it my home or is it my ability to make things happen?
2. Best thing. Not getting a parking ticket yesterday morning.
2. Marking a place in a book. Sometimes a book mark but equally any handy scrap of paper.
4. Snooze button. I rarely set the alarm nowadays.

5. Postage stamp. The bookshelf. You're right, it is difficult to post a bookshelf, but it was really more about storage than postage!!

1. My friends would say my patience but I'm sure I owe that to Prozac.

2. I picked up my new car!!!!! A silver RAV4!!!!!!

3. Usually another book...anything flat and handy.

4. Uh.....an hour's worth?

5. A water bill for a place I don't live yet because if I don't give Leavenworth county $21.50 every month, to re-register my meter with the county would cost me.........................five thousand dollars. Can you believe that???? Country living is expensive. I've also been told that when my water meter is read for real, the person who is supposed to be reading it just drives his car and makes his kids jump out and read it.....I've been told that water bills can wildly fluctuate because some little kids have a hard time reading those meters.

Okay, enough of that. A new car (I had my old one for 19 years!). Woo hoo!!!!

1. Best asset: My curiosity.
2. Best thing that happened: I bought a new book.
3. What I use to mark a book: One of my business cards for my mixed media sculptures. It has a picture of one of my pieces on it and I like seeing it in print.
4. How many times I hit the snooze: None. When I was a teenager (many, many, many years ago), I had a problem with hitting the snooze too often, so I moved the alarm clock across the room so I'd have to get out of bed to shut it off. To this day, I shut off the alarm and get out of bed.
5. Last thing I put a postage stamp on: Unfortunately, just a bill.

Wait just one minute.......you SAID Klondike bars!!!!!

Oh, alright then.
1. I would have to say my energy level, which on occasion borders on the scary. Sometimes.
It is getting better with age. Like wine.
2.Best thing in the past week.......coming home from Maine. I loved Maine, but there is nothing like being home. Why is that?
3. OK, you caught me. I fold the page.
4. I NEVER hit the snooze button. I don't even need the alarm. It is light, I wake up.
I told you,the energy thing can be scary.
5. The rug I just sent to California.

3) I'll turn down the corner of the page if it's a pocket book but I'll use whatever's handy for a hard covered book. Often it's a feather too, because I keep the ones I find.

4) I very rarely set an alarm and when I do, I never hit the snooze button.

5) A package I sent to a blogger in Pennsylvania about a year or so ago.

These are always fun! :)

2. Monday I won an award that got me THREE whole days off whenever I want to take them. That's almost like winning the lottery, because time off is way more valuable than money.
3. One time when I was a kid, I was leaving the library and hurriedly rushed to the librarian's desk to snatch a pencil to circle the page in the book I was reading. There were no words spoken, but the glare I received at having marked up a library book has scarred me for life.
4. I hit the snooze button three times before the alarm even goes off.
5. I don't know.

Not even half a Nutty Buddy aka Drumstick? Brown Mule? Dreamsicle?

Good health is definitely my best asset.

Spending time with my daughter is always the best thing that happens in the day or week.

I always turn the book upside down, open.

No alarms, and no clocks in the house that actually tell the right time. There's usually a radio on and the news comes on at the top of and half hour with traffic on at 20 minute intervals - that's close enough!

The water bill.

Best asset - patience and understanding.
Best thing that happened this week - had all the windows washed - looks great.
Bookmark - usually one of a collection my husband bought me (or if I can't find one - a post-it)
Snooze button - AH I'm retired no longer need one, but I do have a built in alarm clock and still usually get up before 7.
Postage stamp - insurance claim

5. A bill...yuck.

My best asset is my giving nature but then again I have great hair.

The best thing that happened in the past week was I spoke with my sister on the phone for 2 hours on Sunday. We don't get to talk very often and 2 hours is such a luxury.

I dog ear pages in books. They are my books and I don't apologize for that. I also write in the margins.

I never hit the snooze button. I get up everyday at 6:00am without an alarm clock.

I put postage stamps on "save the date" cards for my 60th birthday that my kids are throwing for me on January 2nd. Save the date cards are really necessary when one's birthday is at the holiday time.

1. My ability to ignore things. Not everyone would agree that this is my best asset, but it's definitely my favorite.

2. Getting a signed copy of "The New American Chef" from the authors - it is such a thrill.

3. If there isn't a dust jacket, I have a few bookmarks I like, but if it's my book and nothing else is handy, I'm a corner folder. This scandalizes my son in law - probably be cause his mom is a teacher and they hate it when students fold over corners. I like the look of a weel-read book myself.

4. I refuse to answer this question.

5. I honestly can't remember - I rarely send anything in the mail. If terrorists take over the internets, we will have everything repossesed or turned off before I can figure out to do bills manually again. And sending up a few prayers for your son :(

5. Postage stamp - on a package I sent to my cousin

Now I want a Klondike bar!

1. My best asset is my sense of humor - warped at times, but it gets me through most anything.

2. Spending a great day with the hubby - doing yard work, talking about future plans, making memories.

3. A book market one of my kids ade for me eons ago. I'm finding lately the hubby has been reading the same book as I which is only confusing when we both reach for it at the same time!

4. Is there a snooze button...my job is to shake the hubby so that he gets up to take care of that situation - our new clock we can hardly hear. I used to wake up before the alarm went off because it was so obnoxious!

5. A sympathy card for a dear friend was the last item I put a stamp on.

Have a great "rest of the weekend!"
