Today is my last day of work until January 2, 2013. Woot!
I am so glad to have the time off but today is going to be a busy one. I have a booklet to produce for a basketball tournament this weekend and a few odds and ends to finish before I leave. And then there is our school’s tradition of caroling around the tree, and we always have alumni who return from college or their jobs. It’s so wonderful seeing them again.
My little tree.

Never worry about the size of your Christmas tree. In the eyes of children, they are all 30 feet tall.
~Larry Wilde, The Merry Book of Christmas

I always have faeries in the tree.
I collect owls.
And acorns.
You’re thrilled, aren’t you?

Isn't it funny that at Christmas something in you gets so lonely for – I don't know what exactly, but it's something that you don't mind so much not having at other times.

{This is exactly how I feel.}
It’s cold out this morning, and I’d better get moving
.Hope your day is a good one ~

Good luck with your leaflet and have a fantastic holiday away from school. My son's school doesn't break up for another week. Love your tree decorations....Happy Christmas!
Your tree and ornaments are lovely!!! Great bokeh!!
owls ... and acorns .. i had no idea
Our tree in the downstairs pub is decorated entirely of owls, acorns (the exact one you have!), bird's nests, and other various wildlife. However, I am missing fairies...hmmmm. I will post photos on Facebook. Great minds think alike :)
I know that lonely feeling...
Love your photos and your tree! And of course that quote on the 'size of Christmas tree' ... so true!
Oh my goodness, your photos are just so incredibly lovely Kate❤ I love the reds and golds that sparkle and shine through.
I use to have that feeling and I think it's wishing for childhood once again. Just so we can relive all the excitement and merriment from that perspective. I think once we gain the realism of what Christmas is to adults it's never the same and we somehow wish it back. Does that make sense?
Have happy, happy carefree days of your holidays dear girl.
peace n abundance,
CheyAnne
Kate,
Such a beautiful tree. Mine has lights and cranberries.. I couldn't bring myself to do the ornaments. Just the angel at the top. She was the first ornament Kenny and I bought together.
It is such an odd time of the year. Emotions run deep.
Thinking of you
Cheryl
At least I'm making a mosaic tree to hang in the kitchen so we will have something :)
Your's is pretty.
Hope you have a nice Holiday !!!
You are way ahead of me. I don't have my tree yet. I did get a few gifts bought though.
xo,
JC
Lovely ornaments!
I always miss those who are no longer in our lives
But that lonely feeling was always there even when I was quite young.
Love your owl ornament! My friend in Illinois would be jealous! Then again, being as avid a collector as you, she probably has one already, or at least something similar LOL. :)
Beautiful photos! Love your little tree.
I have a little collection of owls in my tree too...part of a bigger collection of bird ornaments. Your tree is beautiful!
Have a wonderful last day of work and a joyous Christmas vacation!
That quote, wow, explains exactly how I feel every year at Christmas. Thank you for putting it into words.
Steph
Love your tree and ornaments , wonderful photos of them to ! Hope you enjoy the time off and get in some out door photography as well ! Have a good day !
Oh, {{{{{Cheryl}}}}.
I really like looking at ornaments of people's trees. You have some great ones.
It was so good to see you and the others. So grateful for that school!
My grandmother collected owls, so I liked them, too, before it was cool to do so. :)
Beautiful decorations on your tree!
Your photographs are amazing!
i'm thinking of you today for so many reasons.....but mostly because of where you work and the tragedy that happened today.....my heart is aching.
i got my tea today....and thought of you again....and i have to tell you, i loved it !!!
enjoy your time off. i mean really enjoy it. breathe it in with every pore and then tell me how beautiful it is :)
xo
That quote by Kate L. Bosher is spot on. I like your ornaments. Merry Christmas!
This time of year is always melancholy for me. Never have figured it out.
Faeries owls and acorns seem Perfect!
Oh to be able to express oneself as Kate L. Bosher does...

and as Kate Country Girl does through her photography and sentiments.
A longing to belong...a longing for an intimate relationship...with God? I find there is always a God-shaped space to be filled in our hearts.
Thinking of you all today.
Agreeing with what Annie said... you say it so well - sometimes with other people's words and always with your own pictures. Divine.

I always feel like I'm missing something too. I feel like I should be Suzy Homemaker, with everything perfect. There should be the right amount of snow, Christmas caroles should be playing, cookies out, friends dropping by...not happenin'. It just seems rushed and expensive and petty. I'd rather have my kids come home and hang out, play games, have a bonfire, see a play, go to a concert.
Someday I'll grow a backbone.
Have a very content, relaxing holiday!
That is a beautiful tree! And wonderful photos! I did my simple/easy tree this year but I'm missing (a little) that 7.5 ft. monster. I believe, next year, I will need to do something unusual re. decorating...I have a year to think about it. And yes, this time of year, this holiday, I get totally wierded out...hate that feeling.

Beautiful photos and yes, something often feels missing, even at my happiest of Christmases. I think it might be nostalgia - missing the wonder of Christmas that is so much more magical as a child. Maybe?
Your blog posts, always make me smile.
These are lovely ornaments. Your tree is so pretty. I have mine up...but no ornaments on it yet. I think you inspired me. Enjoy your holiday break!
Reading this post and realizing you had no idea what the day would bring. I have thought of you so often since this date. (I loved seeing those sweet owl and acorn ornaments.) xoxo
