We've got all manner of animals that occasionally habitate the paddocks here at the farm. Usually, it's just the horses. But the deer also live here and they pass through regularly. When the apple tree's in bloom, they'll be here every single evening. We also have several fox, birds of all sorts, beaver that live down by the pond in the woods, and most recently, a groundhog has taken up residence in our shed out back.
George is on top of it all. He's pretty content to have the horses in the field behind our house, but when deer come, he'll bark and run towards them, like he's doing in the top photo here.
In the last photo, he's spotted a fox. Maybe I should have let him out of the fence so he could go chase it. But not today. He's just keeping his eye on that fox.
I hope you didn't come here for the excitement. You can find that elsewhere. This is just quiet country life on a horse farm. So, calm down and relax. You're among friends. Especially a big furry one who'd love for you to take him on another walk.

Go George!! Love the pictures!
I can just hear him barking and see his whole body coming to alertness as he takes off after that deer!
My dog, Bailey, is a mixed border collie and brittany - but he has a lot of border characteristics! We don't have too many deer that get close, but we do have some squirrels that just drive the poor guy crazy!!
Take care and go George!!
I'm ready to sign up as dog walker! That scenery is spectacular and it'd be just the thing to shake all the wintery drearies outta me! :D
...Aww, I love the photo of George springing thru the pasture! He's such a cool dog! :o)
...And that last photo, it makes me wanna take off running down between those two fence lines in the middle there! Wow, you walk in heaven!
...Blessings...(and a pat on the head to George too ;o)...
Aw - gotta love that George!
ah, I'll take George for a walk. I'm in love with him!
I really do live in heaven. We are so blessed. Sometimes, though, I forget. Thanks for pointing it out to me.
There's the green frisbee he chewed the other day that my husband was so upset about, although our couch cushions were also strewn about the yard. I just had to put that in there . . .

I love George. He reminds me so much of Sporty, my border collie. Full of mischief.
Best of luck with your knee surgery, and keep us posted!
...Came over from Russell's. Love your comment ' really do live in heaven but sometimes I forget..."
I live on the edge of country in UK -
know the feeling! We have a garden with foxes, and deer in parkland not far away.
Lovely shot of the dog.
Oh how I miss seeing the deer as you do. One of the reasons I love traveling with my husband is for the chances to view the deer.
Welcome Julie, and I've seen you commenting over at Russell's. You're my first visitor from the UK, as far as I know. My husband was born there.
Nice to see you back, Treasia.
Okay, I have deer every morning and every evening in and around my place and I really should take more pictures, but my camera really sucks! THESE are gorgeous, as usual! George is beautiful, reminds me of my old border named Scamper.
One of these days, I am going to buy me a real grown up camera!
It's really weird you posted this because I was feeding this chickens last night and all of a sudden our dog, Jolee (a pekepoo, about the size of a shitzu) starts barking and takes off running. So I look up and there are three deer stand about 100 meters from me and just staring at her like she's crazy as she's running toward them. They finally take off and she CHASES them across the wheat field (A good 3/4 mile) with myself and my boyfriend chasing after her. She was determined to 'catch' these beasts.
Now what she would have done with them if she HAD caught them is a whole other story!
Oh Kate, I want to live where you live! How beautiful is that? I'll walk George every day. Twice a day.
Gotta go -- I'm in the middle of cleaning out my son's closets. Yikes.
xoxo,
Mary
I'm just in awe of your home... It is gorgeous!!! So incredibly blessed. I dream of owning a place like that one day. A piece of heaven on earth.
I love the first photo.....the spring combo of bare tree branches and greening pastures.
Amazing, isn't it, how dogs always seem to be "on top of it all".....our dogs are like that, too.
Your spread is pretty amazing, Kate! How peaceful. Am I allowed to visit? I promise not to ask any questions about my camera, lay on your spot on the sofa or chew anything that would upset your husband.
Tracey ;)
Oh, Tracey, you are hilarious. Have you really not ever been here? Your daughter has a few times. I sent you an e-mail. I'd be upset if you didn't bring your camera.
I LOVE the first photo! Great for P.O.V., huh???
If you say it is, Miriam, then it is. I hadn't seen it that way.
