Short and sweet

I’d forgotten about this one, something my husband took last week. I first saw it when I sat down to the computer in the evening and this photograph was gracing the screen.

Well, rather the original photograph was what was gracing the screen.  The photograph below is after I added this texture to it.

DSC_0987 copy 2

It’s short and sweet and all the time I really have for tonight. I’m trying to catch up on favorite blog reading and am currently reading another book, The Reader.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the meantime, inquiring minds would like to know the following:
1. How often do you listen to music?
2. How do you find new songs, albums or artists to listen to?
3. What station is the radio nearest you set to at this moment?
4. When was the last time you bought a CD? A digital music file?
5. Can you name one song that has particular significance?
See you in the comments, my friends . . .
1. How often do you listen to music? Every day while driving in the car. Weekend mornings in the living room.
2. How do you find new songs, albums or artists to listen to? My favorite radio station, friends, songs I hear out and about. Where do you find yours? I want to know.
3. What station is the radio nearest you set to at this moment?
WXPN 88.5, Public Radio from the University of Pennsylvania.
4. When was the last time you bought a CD? A digital music file? I bought Ray LaMontagne's Gossip in the Grain from Amazon last week.
5. Can you name one song that has particular significance? When I first fell in love with my husband, this song was playing on the radio so much that it became our song. It was Peter Frampton's Don't Hesitate. Damn. That's a long time ago . . .
3. What station is the radio nearest you set to at this moment? Internet Radio - WCBS. I'm listening to the NY Yankees game.
Its all static. Thats the station I can hook my iPhone up to and hear my music through my car radio.
4. When was the last time you bought a CD? A digital music file?
Loudon Wainwright - Daughter. Its the song that my father and I danced to at our wedding. Every time I hear that song I get all misty-eyed and think of my dad. We lived 600 miles apart (me in VT and him in MD) so I don't see him often.
3)104.9 Classic Rock. I also like the Blues on my hubby's Serius Radio.
4)I bought Susan Boyle's debut CD.
5)The song "IF" by Bread is very special to me. My hubby sings it to me and it was also our song at our wedding ceremony.
1. I listen to music in the Gallery all day long. Mostly, not of my choosing. So, normally, when I get home I like quiet. However, in the last few months, I've been listening to music a lot. In the car & at home.
2. I will hear new songs on the radio, in restaurants, and galleries. If I like it, I'll ask what they're playing.
3. My radio is set to a new station in town called The Shore 104.3 http://www.shore104.com/ You can stream their music, if you want to have a listen for yourself. Their tag line is Roots, Rock & Rythm. I'm not crazy about the rock portion, but the rest of it is very good.
4. I bought a CD just this past weekend. Waylon's Wicked Ways. He's a young Dutch singer with a blusey sound. The weekend before that it was John Mayer's Battle Studies. I love every track on it and I'm wearing it out by playing it so much.
5. No one song has particular significance to me that I can think of. There are lots that bring back memories of one sort or another.
1. yep, in the car, I have a compilation cd that the kids left in there...great kids music. not often otherwise, apart from if I am at home I listen to a program between 10 and 11am where an interviewer talks to someone (usually well known) and they play their favorite pieces of (usually) classical music in between chatting. Hate to miss it. The interviewer is one of the best ever I have heard, and the music generally great! Otherwise, nothing else much.
2. I don't really ever find new pieces, unless they happen to be played on my fav program, see above.
3. Classic FM.
4. Can't remember Kate. Sorry. For the CD's. Probably about more than 4 years ago. Digital music files, never. Never listen on the computer. Sorry I know I am boring.
5. Ah, lots of choral sacred music. mmmm...Sheep may Safely Graze by Bach I think, pops into mind, but it is not the only or best piece. Mozart's Ave Verum Corpus. Sublime. Faure's Requiem I probably should have put at the top. The kids sang it at school...sublime again. argh...there's another one, and I can't remember...argh...and The Song of the Moon, by I can't remember who at the moment. ah, Russalka I think might have been the composer of that last one. Just popped into my brain at the last minute, so I do have about an inch of a brain left at the moment, so it seems! Anything classical sacred choral.
3. Martha Stewart Living or Blue Collar Humor - I usually only listen to my Sirius radio stations instead of local stations.
4. I buy music weekly from iTunes.
5. I can name a million songs that have significance to me. I'm not kidding. But my favorite is "when it don't come easy" by Patty Griffin
4) I bought a CD at Christmas time. It was Dan Fogelbergs last CD, released posthumously. (sigh!)
3. WUFT NPR out of Gainesville, FL and WOMX out of Orlando; chatter in the early morning and the serious NPR stuff for later in the day!
4. The last CD I bought was Magic by Bruce Springsteen; my last digital download for the I Pod was a Pink song--is the title "Don't Leave Me!?"
5. My significant song is even further back, Kate! My first true love would sing Bread's "Baby I'ma Want You" to me and melt my heart!!!
1. How often do you listen to music? Daily in the car mostly. When I am home alone, I usually have HGTV or FoodTv on the television instead of the radio on.Does hearing my kids music when they are listening count?
2. How do you find new songs, albums or artists to listen to? Radio, CMT, suggestions from friends, my kids
3. What station is the radio nearest you set to at this moment?
Country Music station.
4. When was the last time you bought a CD? A digital music file?
Um - don't tell on me. My dh refuses to buy music when he can "share" with friends. I hate it, and refuse to use it - I am the only one with no MP3 or I pod in the house. I listen to all my music on the radio.
5. Can you name one song that has particular significance? There are a lot...but the most significant to me is "our" song - You're the Inspiration by Chicago. My Dh sung along with the song to me in the middle of the dance floor at prom. At the time I was mortified, now it is sweet, and has been "our song" since. Every time either of us hears it we call each other. And same as you, that was a loooong time ago!
1. How often do you listen to music?
Not often enough, especially since my public radio station forsook music (except for Thistle and Shamrock: thank goodness for the Celts, my favorite!). In the car it's a given, but at home I'm usually on the move between rooms.
2. How do you find new songs, albums or artists to listen to?
Sadly, this will betray my age: commercials on TV, live appearances on Dancing with the Stars, and other public events. I told you it was sad.
3. What station is the radio nearest you set to at this moment?
Public radio. In the car the next button is country. I know, I'm a conundrum.
4. When was the last time you bought a CD? A digital music file?
Sigh. I don't remember.
5. Can you name one song that has particular significance?
I'm having trouble coming up with just one. There are many--so many that I don't keep track.
1. How often do you listen to music?
Any time I am in the car and lately every day that I stay at home via iTunes, iheartradio.com or radio stations' own websites.
2. How do you find new songs, albums or artists to listen to?
I get most of my suggestions from my friends via their postings of videos and songs on their Facebook pages and a couple other friends just in conversation through emails/chats. Another way is by using iTunes genius playlist, Pandora.com or checking out who actually just sang that last song I heard somewhere and really liked.
3. What station is the radio nearest you set to at this moment?
I haven't a radio in my room BUT when I listened to radio through iheartradio's website, I listened to DC 101 (rock station here in DC) and the last station I listened to on my phone was WFUV 90.7 fm in NYC (public radio station from Fordham University).
4. When was the last time you bought a CD? A digital music file?
I haven't bought a CD in ages but I did receive two for Christmas from my father (the Millennium Collections Best of B.B. King and their Best of Etta James). He knows how much I love both of them and music in general so he also got me an iTunes gift card which I used to buy myself Norah Jones' new album "The Fall" as a birthday present to myself.
5. Can you name one song that has particular significance?
So many...but one that has the most significance to me in the last few years is "Passing Afternoon" by Iron & Wine. You can listen to it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36dIQfL5kFQ Significance: it's the song I used in a slideshow for my Grandmother's memorial service after she passed away 12/26/07.
FINALLY! Tonight I can post a comment. I'm so excited I forgot the questions, but I listen to the radio every day, right now it's tuned to NPR. I don't buy CDs any more because I understand that's almost as passe as a 45 or an album, and I don't want to embarass my children any further.
The songs that have significance to me are far too many, but for now I'm going to go with Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye. ALso, Give it Up by Marvin Gaye. Also, Popcorn by James Brown. Also, anything by Earth, Wind and Fire, and most things by KC and the Sunshine Band. I'm so excited I can comment, I don't know how to turn myself off.
wv: dersca. The Russians hurt their derscas when they dance to James Brown's Popcorn, there's just something about that song that makes you want to move.
