Weekly Dose of George

Continuing with my series on the weekly look at everyone’s favorite border collie. Ok, well maybe he’s not YOUR favorite, but I promise you, he’d like to be.

After accomplishing many housekeeping chores today, going food shopping, and putting everything away, I made a cup of tea and took it outside to enjoy.

I sat beside the garden and after just a few sips of my Earl Grey from the new Keurig machine in my favorite Fishs Eddy mug, went back into the house for the camera and macro lens. I had spied a very photogenic morning glory bloom, and after taking many photos of it, I turned the camera on my little friend.

Hello, my friend.

He is so shy.

With pretty eyes.

Today, while food shopping, I ran into one of my sweet co-workers. I haven’t been to work since Oct. 6, and she stopped me and asked how my husband was doing, and to my surprise, I nearly began crying.

It pisses me off when I get teary. I consider it a sign of weakness. Plus, it makes people feel uncomfortable.

I was shopping because tomorrow we are having company. Not sure my husband is ready for all this, but it was actually his idea. We’re having friends over who we’ve known since high school – they’re in town for a family wedding and we’re both really looking forward to seeing them.

: : :

And I’m sure George is really looking forward to an early morning bath. Ha!

Enjoy your Sunday, all ~

He is a beautiful boy.

A morning glory, with just the right light falling through it, can be so oustanding...

He's definitely my favorite border collie :)

Sometimes it's really good to cry..... like a release of all that emotion. I often feel much better after a good cry.

Tell your hubby that we are all thinking of him!!

Your George is one little buttercup!

There is a wonderful post on Pinterest, one that I dearly believe in.

People cry, not because they are weak, but because they have been strong for too long....

You are very strong, it's that simple.

George is as always gorgeous. Love the shots of him anytime.

I would have cried to had my husband and I been in your boots. I get that big old lump in my throat and then it's all over... the tears just roll. It's really OKAY to cry. I bet you've been holding a lot inside, Kate.

Hello! I have been away from your blog for a bit and I've missed so much that I had to scroll down and get every last drop of information! So glad your husband is home. Yay! Glad you had your sister's help and love. Glad George is so sweet and beautiful and probably very happy to have his dad home, too <3. Wishing him a speedy recovery!

nothing wrong with a few tears...your cup has just runneth-ed over a bit! (pardon my butchery of a wonderful phrase).
George is my favorite blog dog!

Yeah, there's nothing worse than showing a little emotion . . . ; )

Enjoy the company!

You can only hold it in for so long, right?

I am sending you all kinds of good thoughts for tomorrow. I'm glad your husband is up to having company, it will be good for the both of you.

And that George, I want to hug him!

I agree with the other commenters...there's only so long you can hold it all in...I'm not a crier either and have very similar feelings about it as you do. But sometimes you just need a good cleansing...and I think that's why God made tears. :) Warm thoughts for a wonderful visit tomorrow.

if tears are a sign of weakness, then i have absolutely no strength whatsoever. i mean zilch. nada. none.

i cry easily and those who know me, understand how sensitive i am.

so your tears wouldn't have phased me a bit, but they would have confirmed just how much you love life and your husband.

Well, I have to confess, some of our very good friends have 3 Border Collies and we love them! If they didn't shed and I wasn't allergic to them I'd get one - they are so smart!

I read somewhere once that "women cry because they understand the world, all the rest is bulls*it!" Your tears are not a sign of weakness, like you, I've been crying off and on since my mom passed away last month. I think it's just a sadness in our hearts. So what if it makes people uncomfortable, let them walk in your heels!

XOXO

Awww Kate, if I saw you cry, it would make me cry too. And you are far from weak you know. So glad for your upcoming visit with some old friends, it's sure to be comforting. That George session is a welcome dose of sunshine. Enjoy your weekend Kate! xoxo ~Lili

I don't think crying makes people uncomfortable at all. If they care about you, it's good to let them know how you're feeling.
George is very handsome indeed. I bet he would have lots of fun with my Zoey:-)

I've been thinking a lot about weeping lately...I tend to feel like you do, that it is a sign of weakness. I try very hard to always hold things in and I am usually successful. But lately I have been realizing that I am wrong. If I could and did weep in front of others would be a sign of strength...a sign of reaching out...

For some of us accepting support is a sign of strength...

Does this make any sense?

...And have fun this weekend!

Fluffy Kate

Crying is not a sign of weakness, it's to do with releasing stress and is an act of self healing. Or so I believe... As for people feeling uncomfortable there are many things that make people uncomfortable and they have to deal with that - not you. Words of wisdom from Ms Smartypants who will not be so smart when she sits her exam in 2 weeks....

And what on earth is 'the new Keurig machine'? Something that makes tea in a cup? Like a fancy tea strainer maybe?

And how is the lovely Miss Blackie I ask?

So beautiful, as always. An early morning bath for George? I think my 4 would positively cringe at the thought of a bath. They'd much rather roll in something stinky!!

Have a great day with your friends.

As everyone has said, Kate, crying is not a sign of weakness. Lord knows, you've endured through so many crises, holding everything in. Hope you can cry at some point as nature's way of providing a release.

Tears are a sign of loving and caring.. and being human. And it offers others a chance to help with a hug or an understanding word.

I hope your husband feels a bit better. I'm sure have long time friends visit will be a blessing. Tears are not a sign of weakness in my book, just humanity:)

Crying isn't a sign of weakness. It is an emotional release. Whether it's fear, exhaustion, frustration, anger, relief or happiness. Yes it can be unsettling for the crier and the audience but you know what? Everyone does it an everyone understands:) It's been a long road and you and your husband both deserve a good cry. Have at it, get it out of your system. We'll be here with a shoulder and a hug (if you need one) and hand you a tissue:D

You're not weak--just human! I hope you're enjoying your visit with friends and that it'll be a good day for all of you!

Aww, George is such a cutie!

And as for crying -- sometimes I am such a watering-pot that I surprise even myself. I'm not rue if it is just my nature, or hormones... I'm going to go with hormones. :)

well, George is my favorite border collie :) and tears are not a sign of weakness.... they are a sign of "real-ness". I just get pissed when I cry b/c I am angry b/c I lose any force I might have tried to convey.... but I digress... anyway, I know you need to be strong, but I hope you can find enough folks that you can cry with: I read on someone's blog that salt water is the answer to almost any problem: sweat, ocean, tears..... I agree

Back in the '90s when I lived in Northern Virginia, my father underwent heart surgery. I took time off work to go be with him and during the whole ordeal never shed a tear. Then, I returned to work and the first person who asked me about it caused me to burst into tears. It was as if a week's worth of emotion decided to all of a sudden come forth.

You can only be so strong for so long before it starts wearing on you.

Hope you enjoyed the company.

Echoing everyone else who has said that you are FAR from weak.... tears are just fine.
Hope your visit has gone well.... BUT I heard that George thinks that since he's already as white as snow, he could skip the bath!

I don't think tears are a sign of weakness, but that is what our culture has taught us. God gave us tears. He takes note of our tears--the Psalmist says he stores them all in a bottle (Ps. 56:8). I have been thinking about tears lately--and shedding several myself. I am trying to think of another gift God has given us that we have learned to be ashamed of or embarrassed by. If I were your personal friend, your tears would not make me uncomfortable. They would tell me what a loving, caring lady you are. God bless you & your husband.
