I felt a taste of fall this morning, a slight chill to the air that had me pulling up the coverlet on the bed to get warm in the wee hours of the night. Later, when I felt my husband wake up, I fell back to sleep listening to two owls as they spoke to each other back and forth, from one side of the property to the other.
I spent the weekend relaxing, reading, and snapping some images in the backyard. I can feel summer winding down.
I have more photos to share with you later, but for now, here’s my tribute to the start of what I hope will be a good week.
What do you hope for?

The weather is the same here , Fresh and cool in the mornings and evenings , the birds , bees and butterfly's are feeding like crazy to prepare for their big journey ! I can finally have my windows open . Lovely photo . Have a great week !
Lovely butterfly pic, Kate. Yes, even in the south I can hear and feel summer winding down. I enjoy the changing seasons and already look forward to fall; the smells, colors, cooler temps, fall festivals, and holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving.
Good morning...nice butterfly!
We are stuck in the upper 90's here in California.. but only fair as we had a very mild June and most of July.
So glad that you had a relaxing weekend to recharge and get ready for the new school year. Mine go back tomorrow... but today my baby turns 13, so one last day playful bliss!
Have a good week!
Oh Kate ...... what an AWESOME image!! You know that I LOVE butterflies and birds :) This one is amazing!!
Our temp was 58 this morning .... I am sooooo NOT READY for Summer to leave us ..... but I do love Fall ......
I'm hoping for a week filled with Peace and Joy :)
It's even chilly down here in Tennessee this morning! Have a wonderful week! xoxo

I'm hoping to get a lot of riding in this week.
State Horse Show is the 1st week of Sept. and the competition will be fierce.
An amazing capture!
I hope for a little indian summer before our winter sets in.
wow....if this is your start, i can hardly wait to see what the week brings to you :)
i hope that my heart and my brain can get on the same page and stop fighting with each other......xo
I hope that I can accomplish a lot of decluttering... always happens after a week in a staged rental condo. I feel the need to purge. Of course, if I just sit down with a good book for a few hours, the feeling will pass... lol
xoxo
Oh, and AMAZING butterfly capture!!!
xoxo
Well, you are right, it does feel a bit like fall approaching. I was a bit chilled but that could be coming from 90+ temps in Florida. Recovering and catching up from our week there. Love this butterfly pic that is captured so finely. Looking forward to catching up!
xo
I hope for whirled peas. ;-)
Absolutely gorgeous!
Such a lovely photo. Have a great week, Kate.
no headache, and myself back.
Lovely!
Isn't it glorious, this whole summer winding down thing? We didn't have fall or winter this last year, so I'm REALLY looking forward to this season!
Isn't this weather so refreshing...school is in the air!
Apparently you can capture anything with wings beautifully. :)
It was a rather crisp morning but I loved it. The whole day was beautiful! I hope for a positive week with good things happening! Looking forward to training for my new job the next couple days.
What a sweet butterfly shot!
Hi Kate,
Finally catching up on back blog reading and loved your trip to Maine!
Yes, there's a hint of fall in the air here too. Being a recent transplant from Louisiana, I found the whole summer to be heavenly.
Can't wait to hear more about the Olmstead biography.... like most gardeners and plant lovers, I know who he is!!
I think this is a good omen for a good week!
we are still over 100 in the day..but my foodie and displayer self is ready for fall...my bday is aug 31, always after labor day fall begins for me ~ 100 degrees or not ~ want to see fall...I bet you have a wonderful fall...

I hope to, somehow, brighten someone else's week. That's my goal.
Stunning! Not sure the summer ever started over here....
I am loving the cool temps! Some of the maples are already changing here in Northern Illinois.
I love this photo...gorgeous color. What do I hope for? Honestly. For our house to sell in Cali...friggen paying a huge mortgage to not live there is killing me.
Our evening temps are hitting down into the 40s...but I don't mind it at all. Such a gorgeous color combination of that butterfly/flower. xo ~Lili
