Signs from New Orleans

I’ve had my nose in the book I'm currently reading ever since I finished my walk after getting home from work. But I am coming up for air to share some photos with you today.

These were taken during my spring break a couple of weeks ago. My husband and I took a road trip to the gulf coast to visit good friends.

I loved walking around New Orleans, just snapping photos and having fun. Here’s a collection of signs that I found interesting.

I thought this one was lovely. What do you think, Sherrie?

I found this one while we were all looking for a place to eat and I was getting hungry. But for some reason, I didn’t want oysters.

We had drinks here after we arrived.

We had dinner at Tony Moran’s. The place looked a little seedy to me. But the food was incredible. We had a table in the back by the bar next to the french doors. Their wine list is fairly decent, as well.

This is a photo I took when we visited last June.

This one’s fun. Like the photo above, I took it last year. It’s on the cover of the photo album I made at Shutterfly.com.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting today. Hope you enjoyed the photos. I’m chomping at the bit to get back to my book, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. For a review on it, visit Lara's Reading Room.

Does anybody even say chomping at the bit anymore?

Until tomorrow, my friends . . .

I'm chomping at the bit to go to New Orleans. Or Nuahlans, either one. I love the signs. You don't see those on every street in America.
I'm going to buy that book. It must be good.

I like these signs and I love the "feel" of New Orleans. What is it about that place....anyway, I have been thinking about reading, "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo". Might have to now that you are "chomping at the bit"!

love the signs. I've never been to N'Awlins.....but I have a good friend whose husband works there. They originate from Illinois. I'm glad other people like to travel....me, I'm a homebody. If I didn't ever have to leave home it would be fine with me.

Yes, we went to Cafe DuMonde and waited forever in the to-go line after using their bathroom. It was sort of like the bathroom in Trainspotting, only a little cleaner. (sorry).

I enjoy photographing unique signs too. Yours are great! Reminds me of years ago when my first husband and I lived in Louisiana and we would visit New Orleans on the week-ends. It's such a vibrant city.

I love it that you say "chomping at the bit..."

I've noticed that lots of people say "give free rein"
but mistakenly spell it "reign"...

Sorry, just thought I would throw in one of my pet peeves, as a former copy editor and equestrienne...

And that's probably the only time I have ever used the word "equestrienne." :)

I say chomping at the bit. Does that make me old fashioned? Maybe it is just because I have horses?

Love all of the signs ;0)

Loved Girl With Dragon Tattoo. Really want to see the movie now showing at a local theatre. Don't care that it's in Swedish. Because of the characters and plot I will gladly read the subtitles... Hope it is showing in your town too.
