Rainy day, dream away

I slept late on this rainy Labor Day morning. And by late, I mean after 8 am. It’s been pretty dreary the past couple of days but I have no complaints about the weather.

I’m not big on complaining.

Rain collecting on the old screens. I like these screens, actually. They’re quite sturdy.

I made a cup of coffee and George and I went to sit outside on the front porch. As we watched the gentle rain coming down, I could hear the steady chirp of crickets, traffic in the distance, and that beautiful sound of the rain.

Found a spider web to photograph.

Rainy day, dream away
Ah let the sun take a holiday
Flowers bathe an' ah see the children play
Lay back and groove on a rainy day.

George does not seem thrilled with this weather.

But I am thrilled with my coffee.

Doesn’t take much to make me happy.

Usually.

It’s a good morning to curl up with a book.

Happy Labor Day, everyone ~

I love the feeling of tranquility I get from reading this post, and looking at your photos...

I hope that life settles down for you, and remains good.

George does look unsettled doesn't he, maybe the sun will come out.

I would love to have a covered porch. It was in the remodel plan but not the budget. Looking forward to our first Fall rain....one day soon. Enjoy the quiet.

Because of the time difference between the east and west coast, when I wake up and check my computer you have already been up and posting. That is something for which I am often thankful! Reading today's post makes me wish I had an outdoor space to sit and sip coffee and appreciate the outdoors. Ah, well, guess I will have to get out and go for a walk instead (It is still HOT here with no sign of Fall in the air yet, so it will have to be an early walk). Happy Labor Day:))

We missed that much needed rain, so all morning we've been playing rainmaker with the hose. I have to say that that still trumps working! Glad you slept in and give sweet George a hug from us. Glad Hilary's surgery went well too.

P.S. Those spiderweb shots cause me great envy! :)

Those cobweb pictures are exquisite. I love gentle rainy days but sadly our rainy days this year have all been deluges, which are something different.

Good pictures that seem to turn a somewhat dreary day into a nice day to sit back and relax.

And George, your border collie, is simply beautiful.

I am echoing Christopher but I have to agree - George is just beautiful.

Sounds like you had a relaxing day .... love seeing images of George! The weather has been so nice up here... the temps are getting a bit chillier. Fall is in the air.

You certainly are not into complaining, and you give us beautiful things to look at and to reflect on. I didn't curl up with a book--had too much to do with the fridge dying on Friday and having to get another. Hubby said h had measured, bt hadn'tmeasured the height! Gotta shave a bit off the bottom of the cabinets...and the ice maker didn't work, so looking for a repairman already" Whoops! :-) Not complaining, ya kw---just wondering what will "go" next!

Love the water drops on the screen and the spider webs. Very peaceful, but I guess that's part of the terrain in the country :).
