Randomness

Here I am, comfortably ensconced in my seat on the couch. I have my legs up on a pillow that’s on top of the coffee table and my laptop on top of a pillow on my lap. I let the cat out about five minutes ago and had just uploaded three photos into this post when suddenly, I heard the telltale sounds of said cat at the door.

She is putting her claws into the metal screening and pulling them out, back and forth, and it’s quite loud. Son of a gun, I had just let her out. That darn cat!

We had a drenching rain come through and now the sun is shining. I took this photo last weekend, however. I’ve been exhausted when I come home from work and all I want to do is rest. This getting old business is for the birds, I tellya.

And so is this school year.

Someone is driving my husband crazy. My husband does not have the strength or stamina at the moment to properly care for George. Border Collies love activity, and it’s not like the dog is hyper or anything - he just likes to be kept busy in-between his doggie naps . . . and things have been quiet and kind of sad here. George is a sweet dog but he needs a job, and my husband doesn’t have it in him anymore to keep him employed as a fetch, stick, and frisbee-catcher-extraordinaire.

It’s something I’ll need to address at some point soon. But I don’t want to think about it today. There’s too much else going on at the moment. So I think I’ll think about tomorrow. Cue score from Gone With the Wind.

    :   :   :

I am glad for the 3-day weekend coming up and have plans to visit with a friend. I cleaned last weekend in preparation for her arrival and I feel as if I could it all over again. How does it get so messy?

It’s been so damp lately. It’s getting me depressed.

I’m into a sci-fi series on Netflix called Continuum. I love the lead character, Rachel Nichols, and stories in general about time travel. Too bad there’s only one season.

Kiera Cameron is a police officer in 2077 swept along when a gang of condemned terrorists escapes their sentences by traveling back in time to 2012. Before she can travel back home to the future, Kiera has to stop the escapees from altering the past. ~Netflix

Do tell . . . any big plans for the Memorial Weekend? Hope you enjoy!

Could George be a mascot and go to school with you? Surely the kids would love to wear him out every recess they get! I'm sorry to hear your husband is no longer up to providing George his needed job. That's got to be hard on all three of you. :-(

I certainly feel your pain with the "no energy after work" thing; the weather has not been helping at all.

Three day weekends are the best. I hope yours is restful and enjoyable. Enjoy your time with your friend. Just enjoy.

Lovely photos ! Miggs is the same always looking for me to amuse her but there are days I just don't feel like it or cant depending on the weather as it affects me in damp and chilly days . We have had many dark clouds roll by but everyone else around us is getting rain not a drop for us in our valley ! Last weekend was our Victoria long weekend and Papa and I spent Sat & sun planting flowers in our gardens and planters . Now as of this evening the winds have picked up a lot and it is chilly out after a week or so of summer temps and sunshine ! Oh well such as life ! Hope you both have a good long weekend !

I almost felt shivers as you described the cat's claws in the screen!:-) Sounds as though she wants back in the house.:-)

    George is a beautiful dog!

Take care of yourself, Kate. Allow yourself the time necessary for "recharging." There is a lot going on with you. Hugs!

No huge plans for the week-end here. BUT, we watch that show as well. It's kind of fun.

Have a good week-end. Maybe you could rent a kid to come throw the stick and frisbee and pay him a few $$. Just a thought. 1-800-Rent-A-Kid??

We need a little of that rain, but not too much because too much bums me out too. I know all too well about herding dogs and their work ethic, with summer coming you'll be able to help him out with his needs. And is it bad that I didn't know it was a holiday weekend this weekend?! DOH!

Love the raindrops on the pansies. George is looking good--I'm sure it takes a lot of energy to keep up with him. Enjoy your friend's visit this weekend--always nice to have company. I always wait till the very last minute to do my cleaning--you are so right-it seems to become messy "just like that"!!! Have a great weekend. Mickie :)

It is a Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK this weekend and typically today is very cold, very wet and very windy. But it is forecast to improve. We usually stay home on such weekends - the roads are busy and we just enjoy our fields and garden.

We got tons of rain yesterday. I think that is the scientific term... or maybe it is a sh**load of rain... Anyway, love your rainy pansies!

Going to enjoy having all four of us home this weekend. Will clean house and weed the garden. (Yeah, that's gonna happen. Not.)

Hope you have a wonderful visit!

Maybe you can find a friend that has a doggie that needs a playmate.

I'm sorry your husband is not feeling too well.

And I'm so glad we have a 3 day weekend too.

    Happy holiday.

I don't know if they have any in your area but maybe a dog walker or you could drop him off at a dog camp each day. I don't know how much that costs but they have lots of them listed in my area.

That way he'll be busy and you won't have to worry about him.

I have a Rough Collie who keeps my older dog very busy. I'm a stay at home gal and even with me home, she needs to be kept entertained.

    Hope your weekend is fun,

Just an idea...can you hire a dog walker? One that comes about the same time everyday or every other day?? Good luck! Just "discovered" you a few days ago and I am enjoying your blog soooo much. I have a Boston Terrier--lower level of energy than a Border Collie. My brother had one...Trapper was his name. His life was 14 years long and I loved that dog beyond measure!

I guess a dog sitter would be too expensive. Very difficult problem - I don't envy you that one. A lot of people here leave their dogs in a crate ALL DAY when they're at work. Friends of ours set up a web-cam so they could watch their Border Terrier and he just slept all day quite happily, only making a fuss as they came through the door! Hope you work things out Kate. x

Try a four day horse show in the rain. Take about damp. I bet you've been there and done that too.

When we adopted our dog Kaja we looked for one at least five years old simply because we knew that age dog would be much more our speed:) She is now 17 years old and I have to slow down a bit for her...which once again is fine with me:)

I am really hoping it isn't this cold and damp for the entire weekend! Hope you are relaxing!

Little kitty-cats can be that way. Poor George. Our little Clayton demands a walk every night and I try but The Hubby has to walk him with my bum knee. I so love your photos. I've been trying my hand at some flower stuff too. Of course then I attempt to paint them. What fun. We've had a lot of rain here too and I'm frankly tired of it even though we've been in a drought for a couple of years. Luckily we are in Tulsa and not in the Oklahoma City area, Moore that had the tornado. Scary and so very sad...hey, think I'm rambling here. Have a great Memorial Day and visit with friend! Carla

Took our granddaughters to Nashville to see "The Lion King" & have some fun. It was a blast but that is fourth weekend in a row I have been gone from home. So needless to say I am exhausted. Thank goodness I have today off to recoop.

Sorry things are so sad right now. Hope you enjoyed your visit with your friend.

Hi, Kate. The rain has finally stopped here in New England. It rained during my entire trip to NYC. It cleared up on Sunday so we changed our trip home from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. so we could get one day of sunshine. Speaking of time travel, have you seen the movie "Looper". It was very good. Enjoy your visit with your friend.

Take care Kate! I wish I lived close to you, I would exercise George for you.

    I FOUND you!

I ditched blogging years ago and recently started up again. I used to blog under 'Musings of a Minnesota Girl' and I was completely enamored with your George and I loved reading your posts.

When I started up again, I searched frantically for the blog with the beautiful split face border collie. I'm so happy to have found you again!

I'm sorry to hear that things are not going well with George as far as keeping him busy. I would love to help you out with advice should you need it. I'm the owner of two very crazy Australian Shepherds, so I get their need for busy. I may be able to help you out with some tips and tricks that don't require extreme physical activity on your part, but will wear Mister George out quickly. If it would help you, I'd love to. My email is thevintagejar@gmail.com. I also volunteer with Aussie Rescue and foster for the Border Collie rescue occasionally, so I'm versed in advising folks on this particular subject!

So happy to have found you again.

Seems I am without words, hearing this! Just praying for a good solution...hoping maybe an e-mail to "Emily", a poster before me, would bring some good tips for George! Sure hope so! He's such a good boy!
