The Simple Woman’s Daybook, April 13, 2009

For Today

simple-womans-gazette-large Outside my window the sun is still bright as I write this post, but it’s quite chilly.

I am thinking about all the things I have to do before we leave for our little trip this week.

I am thankful for my sons. I heard from both of them today.

From the kitchen you won’t believe what we had for Easter dinner. I’m sure it’s quite different from what any of you had on this glorious day. Ok, I’ll tell you. It was egg salad on English muffins.

I am wearing my soft grey yoga pants, a long sleeved t-shirt from Jones NY, my long Cabi velour jacket. It’s cold outside.

I am creating some textured photos in Photoshop. Maybe I’ll add one of them to the end of this post.

I am going to bite the bullet and go camping this week with my husband. In a tent.

I am reading The Watchman by Robert Crais and it’s really good.

I am hoping that I’ll do fine on the hikes when we’re camping.

I am hearing George with one of his squeaky toys.

Around the house, the light is turning golden. I love this time of day.

One of my favorite things is a campfire. I’m serious.

A few plans for the rest of the week include a list of things to be done before we leave, which may not be until Wednesday if the weather does what it’s predicted to do.

Here is picture thought I am sharing

DSC_0118 copy 2

I’m not sure yet what tree is blossoming in the old horse paddock here, but it sure is pretty. I ran PW’s seventies action and then lowered the opacity to about half. Joy St. Claire texture applied as well.

I know some of you have asked if I posted a tutorial on how to make a copyright brush in Photoshop. I found my tutorial in a book by Scott Kelby, The Photoshop CS2 Book for Digital Photographers. I looked on the internet for something similar and nothing was quite like the way Scott showed how to do it. I wish I knew how to put it into words and maybe I’ll do that in an upcoming post.

Oh, and if you like, you can visit The Simple Woman’s Daybook here.

Have a peaceful day, all. Until tomorrow, my friends . . .

I think your mystery tree might be Mock Orange (Philadelphus. It's a lovely photo and texture. Hope you have a good camping trip....gosh, you're an awfully good wife. You're going straight to the right hand of God.

Egg salad sounds like a must have for the coming days, what with all these coloured eggs around.

So glad you're going camping. You're gonna be making some good memories, living life so fun!

Kate.... egg salad on english muffins.....right up our alley!!! YUM!!!

With all my family now in a different state.... and years and years and years of formal holiday dinners where you can't fit all the entree's and sides on the table for 12.......... we are enjoying the simple life...and egg salad on english muffins on Easter Sunday is just that!

Love this photograph...beautiful texture and 70's action! Perfection, Kate!

Wishing you a wonderful camping trip with hubby! Enjoy your campfire....are you taking your fave nightcap? (booze!) :) It will help with getting a good night's sleep in that tent!!! You are a brave woman. I gave up tents about 20 years ago. Had my share!! lol :) hugs.

Egg salad on english muffins sounds pretty good to me too, as long as you didn't festively dye the egg salad some sort of easter color like pink or green or something.

That camping thing sounds like there should be some good stories to tell later. Right? I'm looking forward to seeing what you photograph...even if it's just a campfire. Is George going too? :-)

Good luck with the camping. I always say you can tell a lot about a couple by the way they put up a tent together. We camped through British Columbia and N. Washington a few years ago and enjoyed it more than I thought we would. Loved the fire in the evenings in the woods.

We had our big dinner with family yesterday so we ate simply today too...I prefer that more than the big meals!...however I think my husband and I are going to be terribly sick of leftover ham by the end of the week:)

Your textured photo is absolutely gorgeous!

I like the Day Book idea. Glad you are going to bite the bullet and go camping - I too hate sleeping in a tent - but maybe there will be a very starry sky and you will have a wonderful opportunity to view it.

Another great photograph which would make a wonderful sample for Waverly fabrics to add to their collection.

You're right, I don't believe what you had for Easter dinner!! Only joking, it sounds very refreshing.

With regards the digital photography book, I have one myself by Chris George. It's very good also.

Love what you had for Easter dinner. This year it was just my honey and I. No kids or their friends. We enjoyed a purchased honey ham, new potatoes and grilled asparagus. Simple and easy to clean up.

I have Scott Kellby's CS3 book. I will look and see what he has to say. I would love to create a nice water mark for my photos. I have done them one by one. It took forever.

Your photo is breath taking. I have got to crave out the time and learn to use my photo editing soft ware. Keep me inspired.

Have fun camping. Can you talk him into a motor home? Know someone who has one? Maybe borrow one? Good luck.

Egg salad sounds really good. And no hassle- no clean up.

The weather is supposed to warm up this weekend so you'll have a good one to go camping.

Mmmmm - egg salad. Sounds good to me.

I love Robert Crais - think I have read every book have has written so far. If you like him, you should check out Lee Child too.

Love the photo. I have a premade layer with a sig for my photos. If only I could remember to use it.

George will protect you while you are camping. If you don't have an air mattress, make sure you get one - they make all the difference in the world when it comes to comfy camping. Have fun!
