Our evening ritual

On most evenings, I work on my photos and then will do a blog post for the next day. We’re quite the exciting couple, my husband and I. And we wear this dog out during the daytime hours, I tell you.

Tonight, while sitting across the living room from George, I looked up and noticed this.

DSC_0071 copy 2

He was sound asleep, cuddling his alligator toy. And of course, it woke him slightly when I went over to capture some photos of it.

DSC_0070 copy 2

Dear mother, I am trying to sleep here. Can’t you see that?

DSC_0072 copy 2

Call me crazy, because I like sniffing his feet. I am a sick person, I know it.

DSC_0073 copy 2

I think I have woken him.

DSC_0076 copy 2

Yes, I’m quite sure he’s awake now. He gets ready to play really fast and the last thing we had been playing with was that alligator.

DSC_0087 copy 2

Good gracious me, I love this dog.

Thanks to all for cheering me on when my cardinal photo made Pioneer Woman’s Holiday Bokeh finalists. That was pretty darn exciting. Remember that lens that went wonky the other day? Well, maybe my prize winnings will go towards a new one. Just maybe.

I also actually sold several cardinal prints from my etsy site, too. And I’d like to welcome the new faces here as well as old my old friends who keep coming back, not just for the excitement and not just for the prizes, but because they’re in love with my dog.

I know who’s famous around here.

And I love having you stop by.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ And now, some questions for you: ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

1. Because it’s the near year, what’s something that’s better after the newness has worn off?

2. What dish do you always go back to get seconds (even when you know you shouldn’t)?

3. In 2009, who made you laugh the most?

4. What is one healthy food you really, really like?

5. On what date do you think 2010 will no longer feel like the ‘new’ year?

See you in the comment section, my friends . . .

Well, Kate...I know what you're saying about smelling his feet :) - My Happy dog, from once upon a time, always had (what I called) Frito Toes. They smelled like salty Frito's to me :) - now how's that for weird?! hahaha

George is such a wonderful dog, Kate...I can see his personality in his expressions. I'd love that little bugger right up and I know that energy you're talking about. Happy had it. She was part Border Collie...and it showed in the depth's of her heart. I loved her.

I don't know if you really want my answers to your questions but...here we go:

1. Mostly that my children aren't trying to stay awake until midnight :)

2. Oh, just one dish?! Are you kidding?! Must be that I'm such a marvelous cook that I tend to nibble for seconds at every meal...trying mostly for the veggies, but managing at least a spoonful (you know the large serving spoon) for one last bite before putting it all away. I'd have to say my favorite is the starchy dishes...and brocolli :)

3. My children are the ones who make me laugh (and grouch) the most.

4. Oh, I suppose I just answered this one in question 2. Brocolli, all the way baby.

5. Hmmm...that date will probably be around the time we receive our tax rebate :) - Feb/March'ish

Thanks for asking Kate...forgive me for not properly answering with the questions as part of the sentence :)

It made me happy to see your picture featured over there... I still think it should have got first prize!

1. Anything made out of leather (boots, saddles, coats...) is better once it is broken in and softer!

2. Rice Krispie treats ;)

3. Our new kitten. (and actually our dog because a lot of the laughter was at them playing together!)

4. Strawberries

5. I have to agree with the February 1st answer. It takes me about a month to get into the groove of writing the new year on stuff.

1. Better after newness worn off: any new tech thing because once I've had it for awhile, I finally understand how to use it.

2. Always go back for seconds for pumpkin pie with real whipped cream.

3. My husband makes me laugh the most. He's hilarious.

4. I really do love oatmeal with raisins.

5. It will take me until March to feel used to twenty ten.

I wish I weren't allergic to dog hair. I would be so in love with one. George is gorgeous George.

Well, I have to concur, I also love the smell of my puppy's feet......I was so happy to hear you say that...now I know I am not alone....ha!!
ok...on to the quesions at hand.
1. A book is always better after the newness has worn off, and it opens on cue.
2. I can't believe you said mac and cheese, but that's it for me too...it is the ultimate comfort food in my opinion.
3. I think Tammy, my apprentice for a year, made me laugh the most....esp when she brought me things like the sign that said, "how about a nice hot cup of shut the ______ up"......oh, my she is a hoot.
4.salad, salad, salad.
5. probably February some time.

Did you make these questions up????
That's my question.

I must admit, I have never smelled my dogs feet! They run through the horses area too much! That dog of yours that you share with all of us...yes, I do love him. The way he was looking up at you with those eyes..made me laugh! He has eyes that look into the soul, next to my dogs and a beautiful golden in the UK named Bella..I do love this dog!

I hope you keep your cardinal print in your Etsy store for a while because I really want a copy, but right now the hubs is in between jobs so we have to limit spending. Your George is absolutely precious. My pup always wakes up when I go to get the camera... it's like she has this sixth sense about it.

5. On what date do you think 2010 will no longer feel like the ‘new’ year? Oh man, it takes me a while... it will probably be close to March before I get used to it.

I'm so happy you did so well in PW's contest!

I'm not in the habit of smelling Dan's feet, I'll have to and let you know what they smell like.
Hope it's fritos and not something from the barn :)

Questions:
My new leather boots will fit better after the newness wears off, I hope.

Always have to have a second helping of Kitchen sink soup. No one can eat just one bowl!

Hubby made me laugh the most; my boys a close second :)

I love reading your answers. And I am really relieved that other people smell their dogs feet. Why is this, I wonder. I once had a dog whose feet smelled like brownies.

And if I had a word that rhymed with that, I'd have a nice little limerick.

In answer to the question about where the questions come from, I peruse the FridayFive.org site. They often have some great questions and I just choose the ones I'm interested in.

I'm late weighing in, but hey, that's my modus operandi of late....

First off, you know I have a 'thing' for George and I love your photography. Even I feel slightly inadequate when I look at them.

I love smelling my animals' feet! Although, normally, I would never admit that in public. I used to love to smell a spot on my first rabbit's head, right between his ears. I called it his 'sweet spot' and I loved to bury my nose in his fur and breath his scent in. Small pleasures.

Okay, on to the questions:

1. Bluejeans.

2. Chinese food. Mostly a black bean sauce chow mein that I love.

3. My friend, Rob. Love that guy.

4. Fresh squeezed orange juice.

5. Today, January 4th, when my brief 4 day holiday is now over and my work-a-day routine.

Blessings,
Carolynn

1. Photos of weekend road trips used as my ever-changing desktop wallpaper.

2. Home-made cakes in cupcake or layered form with home-made fillings and frostings.

3. Tina Fey. And I like Sarah Palin, I admire her courage and strength, she's a pioneer woman, but I just disagree with some of her politics.

4. Fresh peaches.

5. Valentine's Day, 2010. Because then I'll remember previous Valentine's Days. And I'm already planning the decorations, candy to purchase and make, etc.
