Full moon

I set up the tripod the other night to get some photos of the full moon. I was not pleased with my results, however, but that’s never stopped me from posting before.

I completely forgot how to set the metering mode in my camera and it didn’t help that the only camera manual I have for it is in Spanish. Googled it but was in a rush, so I just fooled around with the ISO settings and different modes.

But I will tell you that the sky didn't really look like this.

I use textures all the time and never have any qualms about doing so. But somehow, when I finished editing this ohoto, I was questioning myself.

It’s not my usual stuff.

But I like how it looks and am standing by it. Besides, I believe the print will look cool for my Halloween display at school.

Especially if I do something like this.

(the kids will love it.)

But you know what?

The plain moon is quite lovely on its own.

I guess I was just wantin’ a little somethin’ somethin’.

The weather turned cool today and it’s really refreshing. I’m actually in a sweater and have my thick wooly socks on. Oh, I am so looking forward to autumn.

Busy weekend here ~ my sister (Ginny) and her husband are flying out from California, and my other sister (Char) arrives the next day. My husband is really looking forward to having Char watch the Phillies game with him. And I’m just looking forward to seeing my family.

Hope your weekend is a good one. Until next time, my friends . . .

As you were mentioning about the textures and this not being your 'norm' I was thinking it was perfect for Halloween and what d'ya know that's what you were thinking!

I took some moon shots the other day and had to play with the settings. I managed to get one that I like but there were times when I had two moons (reflection of lens or filter) and I don't know how to stop that. Different filter maybe? I was using a UV one.

Sounds like you're going to have a great weekend! Enjoy your family!

I am always bemoaning my lack of understanding when it comes to my camera.....but I am always too busy weaving to do much about it.
So I guess I will just whine.
Your pictures are always awesome.

I broke the wool socks out today for the first time, it is chilly! They are saying it could be a frost tonight.
I hope you have a wonderful, fun-filled weekend!

I think it is a great picture, and the texture you used really made it quite beautiful. With the haunted house in front, you have created the perfect Halloween picture. A little "creativity" can make the ordinary, extraordinary (not that a shot of the moon is ever really ordinary). Isn't it nice to have some cool weather--it has been soooo long. Have a lovely weekend. Mickie :)

The Harvest Moon is my fav and usally try and get it.

I love both pix - treated and untreated but I really like the halloween overlay - bet the kids will like it too. We've got snow above 9000 feet so the woolies are all coming out!!! YAY! ~chris

I put on a pair of sweatpants and long thick shirt yesterday, stepped out side, immediatly got soaked with sweat, so I guess it really was a "sweat" shirt. As for the moon picture's the werewolves are out tonight, watch out!!!

The moon & sky has been amazing the last couple nights, haven't they? I have family coming in from California (and Virginia and Tennessee and Arizona) this weekend too. ELPH & I are taking vacation next week to just hang with family. We are so spread out these days. It will be very nice to just BE with them.

I luv it with the texture! Neat.

Now does she really like the game or is she doing it for him?

Have a great weekend.

I love the texture. What photo editing software do you use? I think I remember you saying you had a PC (I could be wrong though) and I'm trying to decide which software to choose.

The first textured photo of the moon is superb! I love using textures especially in cases like this one - when they enhance the experience!

I love both the textured version and the plain one. -- they are both beautiful! I wish I could get my tripod unstuck so I could use it...

Have a wonderful weekend! I'm lovin' that bit of fall in the air, too!

Both the texture and silhouette have such a cool effect! The full moon is just plain ole cool all the time if you ask me. Have fun hanging out with your sisters this weekend Kate!! xo ~Lili P.S. We went to that antique mall today and I laughed and thought of you when I passed the "Al R." baby pic. (I knew you'd be shocked to learn it's still hanging in the same spot on that wall.)

The texture is a little dramatic but still very cool, much like a painting.

I think your shot was a success - I love how your photo reveals all the details on the surface of the moon. It adds real depth. Cool! :)
