Yesterday, today, and last night

Have you noticed that I haven’t been posting as much lately? About a month ago, I said that I was going to try this. I’m making a conscious effort to stay off the computer a little more every day. My life has been so busy lately and this seems to be working for me.

Thank you for your comments in my last post. The rain seems to have {finally} ceased, and today is partly sunny. The flooding didn’t affect us too much in my area of the county, but over in Port Deposit the water is high. It’s nearly as high as it was in 1972 when Hurricane Agnes came through.  All 50 gates on the Conowingo Dam are all open today, or so I’ve heard, and my husband and I were thinking of taking a drive over there this morning but figured there’d be so many sightseers that we nixed the plan.
I have just a few photos to share with you, taken at different times of the week.

TUESDAY EVENING

Every night, for the past several months, we have heard a juvenile Great Horned Owl begging for food. I finally got a photo of him as he’s clinging to the branch of one of the highest trees on the property – a black walnut. It was windy that evening and he was having trouble holding on and we didn’t want to get too close, because he’s flown off before when he sees us. I know he’s begging for food because when we first heard the screech sound, I looked it up on the internet. Initially, we had no idea what was making the noise but we knew it must be a bird of some sort because it was so high in the trees.

Owlet calling for food

Scroll down to Great Horned Owl, then click on Nocturnal shriek. He screeches about every 30 seconds.

Although it can get on your nerves a little bit, I much prefer it to the sound of dirt bikes. It’s a thousand times better than that.

MONDAY AFTERNOON

Finches enjoying themselves at one of the bird baths. That’s my froggie sprinkler there. Wish it had been plugged in – that would have been fun to see.

DSC_0800 copy 2

LAST NIGHT

The moon rising yesterday evening, caught by my husband. The owlet was out there screeching too, in case you were wondering.

DSC_0804 copy 2

THIS MORNING

Taken through the window of the breakfast nook as I was having a bowl of cereal. Can you see the daddy long legs?

DSC_0808 copy 2

I’m not fat, I’m fluffy.

I keep telling myself this . . .

: : :

And now for some questions . . . because inquiring minds want to know . . .

2. Do you have a nickname?
3. Favorite new song?

3. Favorite new song?
Nothing really comes to mind, but I'm anxiously waiting for Tony Bennetts new Duets II to come out.
4. What is your favorite memory from this summer?
I spent most of it dealing with my bladder cancer so I guess my favorite part was when we finally go to go fly fishing a couple weeks ago.
5. What are your weekend plans?
Dealing with bladder cancer and losing a kidney and all this year has turned me into a non-existant housekeeper. So today I have cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen and now I'm about to dust, then vacuum. If I was really ambitious I'd clean out cupboards and the fridge, but hey, that's a bit much to ask, right.

Yes-I have paid great attention to the fact that you are posting less, and it is much to my sorrow. But if it is to your own joy--then I must bow to that--because you have given me wonderful pictures and words here at times to enjoy. So I must give you back your own solace in less words and pictures for now! I hope one day, you'll get back your muse!
1. Ginger Ale (I was sick)
2. My name is my nickname (figure that one out!).
3. I wish--I just can't seem to get into any music right now. That's very depressing.

2) My Hubby calls me Ska, which in Lakota means White.
3)I mostly listen to old blues or classic rock. So no new songs here.
4)Being invited to visit a Hudderite colony in Alberta, and being given the tour of the colony and invited into her home for home made pie and yogurt. Hudderite colonies are very much closed communities so and invite was a special privelege.
5) Today was seeing a huge classic car show, tomorrow is just hanging out at home and puttering around doing odd jobs, and relaxing!
