Finally, the sun

I awoke to sunshine – something I hadn't seen in what seemed like several weeks. I think it really has been several weeks, to tell the truth. I have the day off because yesterday was parent-teacher conferences at our school and I we were all there until 8:00 last night.

Today I sat outside in my pajamas and a long sweater with my morning cup of coffee. It is so darn beautiful on the little front porch with the sunshine on my face. I went inside for the camera and put on the macro lens for some early morning light close-ups.

Hardly any leaves left on the hickory tree out front.

I love their golden color.

Oh, my friend, it's not what they take away from you that counts.  It's what you do with what you have left.  ~Hubert Humphrey

Sometimes you don’t.

And now I want an Almond Joy.

My husband and I went for a long ride in the car this morning, taking George along with us. We headed up to Amish country and my husband bought some new Carhart clothing (his favorite). It’s the first time he’s driven that far in the new car. His eyesight is so much better after the radiation treatments. Things are quiet which is how I like them.

Looking forward to a quiet weekend here. Except tonight – I’m planning on going out with some old friends. Woot!

Has this week seemed long or what?

Enjoy your dinner get together tonight, and I'm glad you had a nice day off. My son is a huge Carhart fan too, I'm just bummed they are no longer made in the USA after all of these years.

I love George doing a little sunbathing, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

The sun has been gone for a while here too, but we are getting much, much needed rain. Someone told me last week that it had been 48 days since the last rain....gees that was in the summertime. New Mexico can be dry, but not like this. There is even a little white stuff on the very tips of our high mountains.
When you said your husband and you took a long ride, I smiled knowing how wonderful that can be for the three of you. So, so happy that he is better. And don't the men look great in those Carharts??? I know my honey does too. After I told him so, he really goes out of his way to wear those instead of just jeans.
George looks stunning in sunshine❤

isn't it amazing how a sunny day and some macro shots can lift you right up !

it's exactly how our day was....a long drive, sunshine everywhere, a few macros {the darn wind limited me} and hot tea...and now we're home, snuggling.

i hope your sunday is a great one !!....xo

I love the colors of Autumn leaves. Great to hear you have sunshine. We've had wind like no other. Batten down the hatches cause the wind is sweeping down the plains.
