Sunrise at the farm

I took this picture Friday morning when I came downstairs to get my cup of coffee. I happened to look out the window and liked what I saw out there, so I grabbed my camera and went outside. I just love how the water reflects the sky.
Afterwards, I used Pioneer Woman's "Boost" Action twice on the photo. Then I did a slight sharpen and called it a day. To download free actions, visit Pioneer Woman here. You'll need Photoshop CS2 or CS3.
After I took the picture, poured a little half & half into my coffee. Excellent. Not just the sunrise, but the coffee. Go ahead and have a little extra coffee yourself this morning, if you feel so inclined. It always makes me feel better. And have yourself a nice little Saturday morning.
Guess in the Guessing Game this weekend (see post below). I'll post the winner by 6 pm tonight. Here's a hint: It is NOT edible. And Noble Pig, you should know this one.
Photo of the Month voting is going on right now over at Kacey's blog, Wine On the Keyboard. I have an entry there and I just don't want to lose to a chicken! No horse should lose to a chicken on Kentucky Derby weekend. Well, unless the chicken is really cute. So vote! Have a great morning, everyone!

Oh. My. Gosh. If I could wake up to that view every morning, I'd never want to leave! You are so lucky. But you know that! A dh who brings you gifts...even if some are a bit bizarre, George, surrounded by horses, a view like than. Man. Lots of good stuff in your life!

That is a spectacular shot. What a treat to see that each morning! By the way, I think I won the contest. Living in Cocktail Corner has to be good for something...

That is an absolutely gorgeous photo, Kate. You need to enter that for Kacey's next POTM contest. Also, think about Sky Friday - that would be an outstanding photo for that. (go to my website's friday post - there's a link there for Sky Friday - I'd post it here, but I have no idea how.

Okay. This will sound trite. BUT... this is one of the most beautiful sunrise / sunset images I have ever seen. It truly is. And it is the water that turns this from a really nice snapshot to a beautiful photograph.

This is an image extremely begging to be framed... The line of wood fencing which is subtle and the light coming through the two accenting trees is perfect.

Lots and lots of people (did I say lots..!!?!) take photos of sunrises and sunsets. It is not exactly a new topic and most are nice but boring (with all due respect). But THIS one, well.... this one is majestic.

It really is.

I had to go back and look at this picture because I couldn't understand the reaction it was getting. I mean, it was just a sunrise. We get some nice ones.

I can't thank you enough. I see two photographers here who have left comments, photographers that I have a lot of respect for, and after Russell's comment, I am shocked.

I've been having a not so nice day, after all. Nothing to worry about, but this date is a landmark that should be celebrated, and I can't even get into the reasons for privacy's sake. But . . .

What I am trying to say and messing up completely is that if it weren't for all of you today, each of you who have left a comment, my day would have been shot to hell. I watched my distraught husband drag a dead 2- year-old thoroughbred colt, with his tractor, down to the bury pit. I should know by now that when you live with livestock, there will always be dead stock. It's just something that affected my husband deep down, and I watched this scene because I want to always remember it, for his sake, how slow he drove, because he is kind and respectful of the dead.

I am so sorry to go into this in the comment section. I can't post about it because this isn't our farm. Less people will see it here and I guess I just needed it to be in print, and said and done.

Your kind comments have eased me somewhat. I can't thank you enough.

Oh Kate, that is so sad. I was watching a Barbaro show earlier today, and I cried so hard, the dog was worried about me.

I don't know what's up with my email. I have two different computers, and I think there is some kind of sibling rivalry going on...

So sorry to hear about the colt. Losing livestock can be a very tough thing.

One of my daughter's friends is here.....she is starting school for photography, so I was showing her some blogs. We opened yours, and saw the absolutely beautful photo in this post!! Thank you!

Wow, Kate, that sucks. I'm sure it does get to your husband, and you. Yes, it's life on a farm, but still, so very hard to take. Hang in there. Hope you get another gorgeous sunrise tomorrow to cheer you up.

It is so sad when any life is lost and your husband sounds like a wonderful man to be so respectful of that colt.

I, too, love the photo and wish it could be my morning view every day.

Hey, thanks all. Much better now. It doesn't happen a lot, but when it does, it affects us.

Welcome to Stacey and Ruth. Always nice to see new faces visit!

Wow... that picture is amazing!! I love sunset and sunrise pictures, but that one beats any I've seen!! Beautiful!

And I'm sorry to hear about the colt. I was sad when I heard about Eight Belles being euthanized right after her 2nd place finish in the Derby... I can't imagine losing a horse that you saw every day!
