A little song, a little dance

First off, the title of this post has absolutely nothing to do with this post. I've just had that song running in my head for a little while and had to get rid of it!
The sunset through the trees this evening was barely caught by me. I'd come home from work at 4:30 this afternoon to find my husband sitting on the porch. I kissed him hello but was sidetracked by the sunset, so I ran to get the camera. It's too early for the sun to be setting!

The picture above and the one of George, below, were both taken the other evening during a walk around the property. This is in the front of the house.

I read so many wonderful blogs and wish I could visit them all every single day. If you're interested in reading, Mental Pause Mama is hosting a book club and the first book is Twilight. Visit her site to find out more. I've just finished it and didn't think I'd like it when I first saw it advertised. Not at all. Bunch of vampires and weirdness is what I thought. But I loved it! It was beautiful.

This weekend, my friends Jeff and Karen are coming out. You've seen Karen (and daughter Adrienne) on my blog before. They've been my friends since I was about 18 and they were just getting together back then. I'm glad they're coming, but my husband is quite sure he isn't up to any company. I think we can be quiet enough to keep him content, and besides ~ it's not only him they're coming out to see. It's been difficult, but I'd rather not complain. So 'nuff said for now.

I saw a fun little meme on Willow's blog. Have you been there yet? It's magical and so well-written. I'm considering myself tagged, as she said. So here goes:

CLOTHES SHOP
I love browsing for clothing and always have. To see beautiful things makes me feel a little better. I usually always shop alone.

FURNITURE SHOP
I have enough furniture and got several pieces from Ethan Allen. The rest is a mish mash that seems to work. I'd really rather accessory shop for decorative items. I love decorating.

SWEETS
I like sweets, there's no doubt about it. When I'm sad or upset, I seem to crave them more. At the hospital recently, I ate lots of M&M peanuts from the vending machines. This was bad.

CITY
The closest big city is either Philadelphia or Baltimore. I'm between both. The city is fun to visit, but I prefer my country home. I have a son who lives in NYC and I LOVE visiting there!

DRINK
Why, yes I do. I love a good glass of wine. Bass Ale is my favorite beer, if I'm so inclined or crabs or pizza are on the menu. But whatever you have is fine.

MUSIC
I love listening to music. Current faves are Jack Johnson and Ray LaMontagne, among others.

TV
I used to watch a lot more TV, before I began blogging. I do watch Survivor every Thursday night with my husband because it's one of his favorite shows. He also likes Dancing with the Stars (don't tell him I told you!!) but he can't remember the name of it, so he calls it The Survivor Dancing Show. He liked that show called America's Greatest Dog but called it The Survivor Dog Show.

FILM
I adore movies. From old to new, I love watching them. I'll always go to the movies with a friend, if they ask. Can't wait to see Twilight later this month. And I'm looking forward to the Secret Life of Bees.

COFFEE
Can't live without it. The aroma is a panacea for my soul. That link there is for Rich.

Feel free to consider yourselves tagged as you read this post. I'd like to see your answers, too.

Well, until tomorrow, my friends . . .

I didn't think I would like Twilight either, but I did. I finished the 2nd book too, but want to wait for paperback for the third!

My daughter just finished Twilight and is reading the second book in the series now. She loved it! Guess I will have to jump on the band wagon and read it next.

Lovely photos. Enjoy the weekend with your friends...friends are such a soothing comfort in hard times.

I can so relate to you . I read your blog every day and love all of it. The pictures and the honesty you put forth are great. My hubby is in the hospital tonight and it is just me and the dog here .He has lung cancer and now is having something like small strokes. He can not remember how to do simple things, like turning on the TV or the microwave. I know he can't help it, but I get so nervous trying to make him understand. And he flares up and loses his temper because he can't remember things. We,as wives have to just do the best we can and hope for the best. I think you are stronger than me and I hope you have a wonderful weekend !

Love love LOVE Jack Johnson! Kate, you really must try Ben Taylor. (Yup, the son of James Taylor and Carly Simon.) He is so very good!
Nice to learn things about the people who come into our lives. Have a wonderful weekend, friend!

Lovely photos as always but yes, it's disappointing that the sun is setting so early now.. but in just a few weeks the days will begin to get longer again...

I loved that Mary Tyler Moore episode.. one of the best. "A little song. A little dance. A little seltzer down your pants!"

Doris, I tried clicking on your name to send you a private e-mail, to no avail. I am so sorry to hear about your husband's condition, and I understand. He can't help being angry and there is no one else to take it out on. I am not stronger than you, honey. Don't think that. I have a lot of help. All I have to do is close my eyes and pray. Ok? Remember that, and do that, and the help will come. You can e-mail me if you need to talk at katydid56@gmail.com.

The Survivor Dancing Show - this has me laughing so hard!

And the sunsetting so early has me excited like a kid. Most people around here are grumbling (it actually makes my husband angry - weird man) but I clap like a kid. I can almost feel the world tipping tipping, like at the top of a giant roller coaster, ready to plummet to the next bend. (BUT, I do not do rollercoasters. I'm convinced I would simply die.)

It looks like fire behind the trees! Beautiful, not that a fire would be good news but you know what I mean.

Who do you think will win Survivor?
Who would you LIKE to see win?

I kind of like the old guy.
Wouldn't that be neat for a change?

Gorgeous photos!

What is it about border collies that is so wonderful? Both George and Bailey are two of the world's best dogs. They seem almost human, don't they?

My heart goes out to you and to Doris as well. Oh, gosh! What you must be going through!

Love the sunset pictures and the ones of George. Not a time in my life to get a dog, so I live vicariously through yours. Doris and Kate, I know these are trying (and tiring) times in your lifes, but keep the faith and know you are not alone.

I didn't think I'd like Twilight either, so I never got it and still haven't read it, but EVERYONE says it's good, so I'd better give it a try.
I enjoyed your meme. I love getting to know people better. I'll post on Tues.
Have a great weekend and enjoy your company.
*hugs*

I just finished Twilight, too! I'm halfway through New Moon now. My daughter has them all. Love Jack Johnson, too.

That sunset photo is beautiful! I'm not loving the darkness at 5:30 pm though...

Hope you are having fun with your guests -- you need some YOU time...
xoxo,
Mary

I love how your husband has his own special names for the shows, very cute. Hope he's feeling a bit better. Don't have him overdo....If you ever want to see a really really wonderful movie, and it's great during the holidays, watch "Since You Went Away"...it's from 1944, black and white and by far the best movie ever made. I have a feeling by knowing you through your blog that you would love it....

I like the sunset picture. You have really captured it right on time. I can almost imagine you run your way to get your camera. :) I always wanted to do that. I read blogs everyday, too. I love connecting to other people.

Wasn't that the motto of Chuckles the Clown from the Mary Tyler Moore Show?
