Skies of deep blue

I took George out for a walk after work today. I love it that he’s so so happy to see me when I get home. He knows the routine, as I get changed for a walk. In fact, if you say you’re going to get changed for a walk, he’ll race upstairs and lie down in his customary spot to wait.

Let’s try it now. “George, I’m going to get changed for a walk.”

He’s looking at me. I think he knows I’ve already done that today.

I put the laptop down and say it again.

He’s still looking at me. He doesn’t believe me.  And . . . and . . . he’s lying back down now.

Well, that didn’t work.

So there I was walking on a chilly first day of spring. I’d already taken a few macro shots and had put the camera back in the house. The sun broke through the clouds ahead of me and suddenly it felt warmer. As I walked, I glanced back towards the house and stopped. I couldn’t get over how beautiful the sky behind it looked. Ominous, yet beautiful. So I hiked back to the house to get the camera, wondering why I’d put it back in the house in the first place.

I love how the sky looks against the house, don’t you? There’s our stick pile from the winter, under the hickory tree there. Every time we’d get wind and wicked weather, limbs would come down all over and property and we’d collect the ones from this side of the property here. We’ve got to move them soon, out to the pile by the barn.

I like the first picture better.

On another note, thanks for your border collie links in the previous post. And sorry, Amy, but your Aussie puppy looks so much like a border collie! Folks, visit the link if puppies make you smile.

Have a great weekend, all . . .

Wow, I just really like that house that you caretake. Is that a walk on the very top?

Anything happening with the hooligans that took the chair?

That sky really is gorgeous, I'm glad you took the time to walk back in and get your camera again.

We had an ominous looking sky late Thursday afternoon... looked as though we would get quite a storm, but it cleared.. thank goodness!! We have had enough rain for a while anyway.

You must tell...what is on the third floor of the manor?
Is it haunted?

That is one mighty evocative sky! Do you ever walk with music? I don't dare not to any more.

Kate - this house has such a presence - and you've captured it so well. You must feel good getting outdoors for long walks again, that's you I'm talking to not George...

Absolutely no problem Kate- an easy mix up- aussie/border collie!

Your photos are as usual- wonderful. I LOVE the colour of the sky against your house..beautiful and I was thinking, I'll bet George is a great help at picking up the wayward sticks around the house??
Have a super Saturday!!

Did that house add a story since you last photographed it? That dark sky sure makes it look white. It sure has a presence.

The house is impressive and the sky...I LOVE a sky like that, even though it means a storm is coming. Yes, beautiful sky for the house background.

From all you have written about George I knew he would not fall for the teasing line about you getting changed for a walk.He listens to your heart and reads you like a book!( or a sheep) Good boy, George.

Beautiful house, but I guess you already know that. It's truly stunning.

We had blue skies for a while here yesterday but when we looked out to sea it was awfully misty.

I like the first picture better too! yes, the house looks really great against the sky....and I don't know why you would have put your camera back in the house.....you know you are going to see something we want you to share with us!!!!! I love to walk our property and pick up things like sticks and rocks that manuever up from the ground...even after I think I have picked everything up...I can walk out again and find things to pick up!

Cool stick pile! xo

I love deep blue skies like that, when the storm is just passing over and the sun coming out only deepens the blue as it fades into the horizon....
