Wait a minute, was that a squirrel?

DSC_0758 copy

Heads it is. You win then. (And yes, it was a squirrel, George).

Unfortunately, there’s no prize. But you’re the winner today. And I’m the weiner, then. I can live with that.

I took these photos yesterday afternoon before I skipped out to spend an evening with two of my co-workers. Earlier in the week, I’d ordered a new camera lens from Amazon.com and yesterday it came! I’d always wanted a little 50 mm lens and I am now the proud owner of a Nikkor AF 50 mm 1.8 lens which I used to take all the pictures above. They’re all SOOC, which is rare for me as it always seems I have to do something to my pictures. But the 50 mm is a great little lens for portraits.

Oh, and about last night. It began as a simple get together to share a glass or two of wine, and some fruit. My favorite new snack, by the way, is strawberries with a dollop of whipped cream cheese and a dunk into some soft brown sugar. I’ll have a new favorite next week, but for now it’s this.

The evening ended up, however, at a local blues bar after Nancy called to see if they had any live music that evening. Sally was balking about going, but by the end of the evening, we had trouble dragging her away. We got there just before the musicians arrived and found a table that we moved to the edge of the dance floor. The musicians began arriving and we sipped our wine while we watched them setting up. They played a rousing set of rockin’ blues music including a favorite Allman Bros. Band song of mine (One Way Out). We all ended up dancing after a lesbian couple bought us a round of shots. I think they didn’t want to be the only ones on the dance floor, although they were quite interesting to watch.

I love to dance, and by the time the set ended with the band playing Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison, we had a full dance floor and I was jumping up and down (as were others) and ended up peeing my pants.

Now THAT’S my kind of evening.

Sorry I mentioned the pee. I’m just keeping it honest here.

Respectfully submitted,

Thanks for your kind comments on my last post. I didn’t mean to worry anyone. It’s just that sometimes I get bummed. ‘Nuf said.

Finally someone has found a use for all those tail shots, it's just a matter of putting them together! I've got tons of them, just as I click the button they get up and walk away, and I'm left with a patch of half dead grass and half a tail... lol

I don't think George ever took a bad picture.
Sound like you had a great time, I am pretty green with envy, actually.

Cute photos!! I want some new lens also but not sure which one to ask Santa for...hehehe..

I have to say you stumped me on the strawberries with whipped cream cheese and light brown sugar...just not sure I'd be brave enough to try that one but sounds interesting...!!

Glad to hear you had a good time and seem to be feeling better. As for the peeing.. good thing your chiro wasn't there too. ;)

Was George trying to chase the cat? Just curious... our Axel the Great Dane still tries this on with Middy the black witches cat, and comes off massively badly each time. She many be tiny, but she bats a mean paw. And gives us some light relief - the sight is ridiculous!

So jealous of your new toy... I wants me one!!!

A little pee never hurts anyone! Love the pictures of George, as always. My daughter and her family got a new puppy today that I wish I could go see. They named her Georgie. She is an eleven week old St Bernard and is still small enough to hold, but that won't last long!

Wow,Brown Eyed Girl......whoopie..what a song. You had a great night. I wish I could muster up the energy to find someone to go out with and listen. We have some good music here in our little town. Loved your new lens...terrific shots. The ocean is kicking up a big surf this week. Another picture taking task, but there will be lots more all winter.

We all need a girl's evening out like that once in a while!! Although we may not be able to handle them often anymore.

Sometimes life is difficult not because of our own pain but because of the pain of a loved one or friend that we cannot fix for them.

I hope your evening out with the girls and Van Morrison cured your sadness if only for a while. Van always puts a smile on my face.

Hugs

(Nice new lens!)

If you buy yourself some of those Pretends, you can pretend you're not peeing your pants. At least that's what my family says.

In the mean time, we were there with you in spirit - we have laughed and danced ourselves silly here and held glasses up to the sky saying thank you THANK YOU for good friends and the opportunity to spend quality time with them.

When I say "we" I mean "me." And anything I've just said has to do with lots of wine. And dancing.

Enjoyed the heads and tails. George's tail reminds me a little bit of a beautiful tail I saw this week in my barn -- but it belonged to a skunk! Heh!

I am hoping the skunk does not return or else I may have to deal with it. George and that black cat are certainly good looking animals!

Take care.

What a cute little post! That does sound like a great evening... I have ordered the same lens, and now that I see how great it works, I am getting impatient for it.

Some times a night out is the best medicine. Oh and strawberries are one of my fav fruits. My oldest daughter got me started on the brown sugar thing but we dipped it in sour cream and then the sugar. Must try the cream cheese. Yummy sounding. No wonder I can't lose these extra pounds.

Oh and Kate the peeing thing. What would be worse is if you slipped in the pee and broke something. So feel thankful that it was just a little pee. ha ha!

Fun shots, I love my 50mm lens too.

Well I gotta wonder what MPM wrote and deleted .. but before I noticed that I was going to suggest you ask her about her Pretends .. just sayin'

That strawberry thingy is one of my favorites! First time I had it was at a restaurant in Chicago. It was called "Ship Dip" (The restaurant was part of the 'Lettuce Entertain You' group and was named 'Jonathan Livingston Seafood' Clever, no?)
Only difference was you dipped your strawberry in sour cream and then in 'brownulated' (granulated) brown sugar. I could eat a GALLON of those puppies!
Isn't it fun to play till you wet yourself?? xoxoabb

Hello new friend! I just became a follower. I must tell you I absolutely love the cadence of your writing. I mostly follow cooking blogs. But your blog speaks to my soul!! I love and am envious of your photos. I'm trying very hard to learn to take good photos. I seem to struggle! I'm glad you went dancing last night.

Well, join the over fifty/post pregnancies weak bladder club!!! I'd much rather wet my pants laughing and dancing than coughing/ sneezing! Does it sound like I know what I'm talking about? grin

I'm so glad you had a good time. Don't worry about the peeing part. I've had a bladder suspention and it still happens.... horse gets too froggy - spider scares the crap out of me and I start screaming and jumping up and down in place like the energizer bunny on steroids - sneezing my head off... so you get the picture.

beth said...

that is my kind of night, too...dancing till I pee my pants !!

seriously, I love to dance and a dance floor in public always calls my name !

I'm so glad you had a great time !

oh a nifty fifty! That is one lens I would love to have...if I had a better camera:)

I haven't been out with the girls dancing in so long!...

There should be special "Depends for Dancing".

And my 50MM lens is my best friend, my top of the pops, my soulmate and the star of my universe. I really should not comment after an unwisely consumed on an empty stomach second glass of less than stellar Pinot Noir. It has a finish like grape koolaid and I think it is making me have hallucinations.
