Never give up

I am not down, nor am I out. Have discovered that I can actually hold a camera, but not for long. So it's best not to. Also am getting better at typing. That's good because it's what I do all day at my job and there's no way I am taking off for something so trivial as a cut hand.

Typing is really slow, but it's good practice.

It's been raining all day in Pennsylvania. My husband made me lunch and poured me a glass of chardonnay and told me I should take a picture of my wound, which I refuse to do. There's no need to remember what it looks like now. The whole thing is annoying, at best, but something I will get through. I cut the knuckle part of my index finger while washing a glass on Saturday morning. I have 7 stitches in vertical mattress style, according to the ER doc and have been referred to a hand specialist because of the location of the cut.
It could be so much worse. I'm taking Tylenol for the pain, and can tell when the 4 hours are up, lemmetellya. But honestly, I am thankful for these, among many other things:

I can still work in Photoshop because it's not too difficult with the laptop flatmouse.
I am learning to type this way. This will come in handy next week when I'm at work.
My September issue of Coastal Living just arrived yesterday and I love that magazine.
I love the occasional rainy day, too.
My husband is actually being sympathetic.
I can still take a walk with George. (when it stops raining eventually from Hanna).
I can shop online (uh-oh) at Sephora. They just sent me the link to their best of 2008 here.
I can shop online anywhere, actually, and have just bought a new lunchbox at Crate and Barrel.
I can't believe how many friends actually read this and have e-mailed me personally. (Nor can my husband. I think he's jealous ~ not really.)
All my chores were done when I hurt my hand and my house is now gleaming. I love a gleaming home.

See, it's all good. This, too, shall pass.
I left a couple stock photos on the PictureADay site. Don't get too excited, though.

I am trying. Until later, my friends.

good to hear things are looking a little better now..nice to have a rainy day to do "nothing"!

just make sure that finger gets a little rest so it can heal! Do I sound like your mother?

I know I sound like mine! ;-)

We had a glorious two inches of rain the other day here in South east Queensland, so that apparently means two months supply of water for the city..wow..hooray.

Darn - I could have sworn I posted my sympathies on yesterday's post but apparently not.

Hope it heals up fast - good thing went for stitches. I cut my hand peeling apples a few years ago and I have numb spot now because I just slapped a bandage on it myself.

Glad you're able to type some! Wow, and your dh is being sympathetic?? Run with it girl!!

Oh, and if the tylenol wears off...try a martini...

I will not go to the Sephora link. I will NOT go to the Sephora link. Oh, HECK, I'm outta here...

Oh Kate I'm so sorry to hear about your hand. Isn't it amazing how much something like that slows you down. A year ago I sliced into my index finger and I felt like I couldn't do anything. It really made me appreciate those that have permanent disabilities, but don't use them as excuses, because I was a big baby about it. I hope that you heal very soon. Way to look on the bright side! (I can't believe you even came an left a comment on my site, even though it hurts to type. I love ya!) Enjoy your shopping.
*hugs* Heatheramm

so pleased to hear that you are being Good..!!

I have a bad shoulder since I came home, and have to see a surgeon for a little tear in it ..not till mid october..but I am pleased it feels so much better after a very lazy w'e. Another trip to see the grandkids coming up should cure it for good! And lunch out with my brother and his wife who are in town briefly should be good too...!

Annie

ps Good to know you can hold a camera...that is the most important thing! Just keep those blog posts short..we will understand. Not so much of those "hours" of typing!

Being hurt like that really sucks and I would so be in pain and laid up like you but I have to laugh (just a little.) My husband is a cabinet maker and cut the side of his finger off two weeks ago. He put glue on it to stop the bleeding, I think. He's always cutting himself and gluing himself back together. He moaned that it hurt to do dishes but (bad me) I made him do them anyway. Now I'm wondering if I should have given him a few nights off.

Get well!

annie, having a bad shoulder would hurt so much mor than this, i think. my husband had a bad shoulder a year or two ago and you don't know until it happens, just how much you use your shoulder for everything. take care!

wiw -- i can't believe he glues himself back together. yes, i think it would hurt to do dishes!!

thanks, all. there are worse things than a cut hand. no worries.

So sorry about your finger. Hope it is feeling better soon. I have to tell you about my dad. He is a Webmaster for a college. He had a genetic problem that caused both of his hands to slowly start making a fist starting with the pinkie finger, then ring and so on. He was down to just four fingers for typing before he had his two separate hand surgeries. I'm worried about that whole genetic part.

I hope you are doing better soon. I'm sure you are looking forward to the day you can use your camera again!

...Hi Kate! So sorry to hear about your accident - ouch! I hope you're doing better today... Yeah, when all else fails - online shopping does the trick! ;o)

...Um, and while we all LOVE your simply mad photo takin' abilities, I think it's safe to say that we can wait 'til you get better to see more of your killer photos Miss Kate... So don't fret and think we're gonna stop comin' here because you're not able to handle your camera at the moment. You're not gettin' rid of us that easy! lol... ;o)

...Take care of yourself and here's wishin' you a happy Monday!

...Many blessin's... :o)

I am a bad person. Really I am! Here you are with a sliced finger, in pain, and all I could think about was ME! I couldn't bear going for days without reading your posts, seeing your photos, and reading about sweet Georgie. Yes, I am very selfish. I am so glad to see you writing. Thanks for toughing it out, Kate. Now, if you can't hold a camera, can you strap it George and let him hold it for you? Just a thought...

Take care and get better soon, Kate :)
