Speak softly

Quiet times today on Sept. 11. Remembering that day seven years ago. We talked about it at lunch in the faculty room and most of us were working together at school that day. My sons were in the upper school at the time and I remember being so glad that they were close. Now my eldest lives just 3 blocks from Ground Zero.

I don't have very much to say and sometimes that's ok. It's nice being here this evening with my husband, and my tired dog who is napping at my feet. My cut finger is healing just wonderfully. Thanks for all your well-wishes. You readers are the best.

I'll be back to normal tomorrow (if you want to call it that!)

Have a wonderful day, everyone. And let's say a prayer for those who are in the way of Hurricane Ike.

Click on the picture to view larger, if you like. Oh, and have you seen that cool little black box on the right? Click on the word 'decide' and you'll eventually end up on some mystery blog. It's fun.

Until tomorrow, my friends.

The Black Box thing is addictive! It's fun and silly and I should be reading my book but I'm on the stupid computer.
Hope your hand is healing.

Kate, that photo is AMAZING in the large size! Absolutely beautiful. Glad to hear you are healing. It looks like a rainy weekend, so I guess it is nice to have a George foot-warmer! lol

Oh that Black Box is fun!!!! FUN!

I hope your finger is better. I didn't know it had an accident when we exchanged emails last week. I think I discovered your blog in a middle post, not a beginning post or the most current one. I'm now updated on the finger condition so now I really, really appreciate you responding to a comment I made last week ( you probably typed it with your left thumb). <:-)

It's been raining cats and dogs and oh yes, tornados in Kansas today so no additional praying mantis or turtle photographs to share.:-)

Btw-Your chrysanthemum photo is beautiful. The orange ones are my favorites.

Love the photo of the mums!

Hope you are feeling better soon. No fun being injured or down...

I am amazed at how quickly some people seem to forget such things as significant as 9/11. I was at work on Thursday. On 9/11 I always wear black slacks, a white shirt and a solid black tie.

My boss - who is not overly sharp at times... - asked me why I was dressed like I was going to a funeral. I said "Because today is 9/11...." and he sort of looked at me like "oh, uh, yea... okay..." and I wanted to.... well...! Some people!!

I enjoyed your post very much and, again, I hope you are feeling better soon!

Hey, Russell. I know what you mean. A lot of people at school also dressed in black and dark colors. And so many of us complained of feeling kinda funny, sort of discombobulated. I don't think I consciously chose to wear something dark, I just wore what I reached for and it turned out that way.

Yes, my sliced finger is doing quite well! Every little child at school asked what happened and if it hurt. I told the girls that it did not because I am a girl and am tough. They liked that.
