God bless the moon

I see the moon,
The moon sees me
God bless the moon,
And God bless me.

~ A nursery rhyme

Hey diddle diddle,
The cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon;
The little dog laughed
to see such sport,
And the dish ran away with the spoon.

~ A nursery rhyme from the 1700's

When I was a young mother, I used to sing my children to sleep. I had purchased a tape by Kevin Roth, a local singer/songwriter of children's music, who lived nearby Kennett Square, PA. After their nighttime ritual of reading a book, I'd sing a few songs and these moon songs were always at the end, followed by Star Light, Star Bright, first star I see tonight . . .
These are good memories that I keep in my heart.

My husband called me to the back door the other night to show me the moon rising because he knew I'd want to take a picture. The photos I took didn't turn out like I'd hoped. The moon was actually more orange than this, but I couldn't get it to look 'real' in photoshop, so I left it like you see it here, how it came out of the camera. Working on the moon pics in photoshop, well it just made me think of these little songs.
An update to my knee is that I'm doing great. I always post the night before, so this post will say tomorrow's date on it. I had the surgery today and I'm great. Thanks so much for all your words of encouragement via the comment button as well as through my e-mail. They really meant a lot to me and cheered me!

Hi! Love the moon pic, mine always turn out sooo bad, even w/a tripod.
Wasn't that Good night moon bunny? With the mom and baby bunny? Nick loved that EVERY NIGHT. Sure do miss those days!
Be well!

Love the moon pic. I tried to capture the full moon a few days back, but it came out blurry. I was in too much of a hurry to try it again.

Hope you're feeling better!

Kacey, I used my gorilla pod (tripod) and set it on the hood of my car. Because it was dark outside, I needed the tripod. And even then, it came out blurry. I had to sharpen it with the unsharp mask feature in Photoshop. But the rest of it is as it came out of the camera. Even the color.

Hope you're still enjoying your vaca! Oh, what am I talking about? You're at the beach! Of course you are still enjoying it!!

Beautiful picture. I used to sing a line from a John Denver song to my kids..."Go home said the Man in the Moon, Go home. It's getting sorta late and I'll soon turn out my light."

Glad your surgery went well.

Also nice to see your face, well part of it. Hi there Kate.

LOL I know what u mean, no matter how hard u try the picture u capture is never the same as the one u take. It's because u only capture the light of what u see. U can't capture the moment. That is the magic of the moment :)
